Marc Bloch in Brazil. History and Social Sciences
The conference proposes a critical reflection on the work and legacy of Marc Bloch (1886–1944), a central figure in historical studies as a social science. His path as a medievalist, co-founder of the Annales, and committed intellectual reveals an interdisciplinary and transnational approach that remains highly relevant today. The event aims to explore the reception of his ideas and their impact on the human and social sciences, bringing together history, theory, and political engagement.

Ce séminaire propose donc d’analyser les nouveaux usages publics de l’histoire et de la contre-histoire dans l’Espagne du temps présent, ainsi que les modalités les plus récentes de remise en cause ou de défense orthodoxe du « roman national de l’État-nation », et ce, aussi bien au sein de la sphère académique que dans l’espace public.

Journal « Práticas da História »
This special issue of Práticas da História reflects on contemporary epistemological possibilities and constraints in the writing of history. Therefore, it welcomes both contributions that dwell on African journals (scholarly, literary, artistic and ephemeral periodicals) from the 1950s to 1980s, and on the histories behind said periodicals. We look forward to contributions that explore different and contested visions of decolonization and future-making for the African continent and its diaspora. We also invite articles investigating differently situated historiographies from Africa: that use local vernacular by incorporating idiom, local imagery, myth and folklore; that relate to the present or the deep past. We also encourage more nuanced takes on the “nationalist historiography” that when viewed as a monolith was so dominant at the time.

History and Memory: Epistemological Reinterpretation of Africa's Past in a Post-Colonial Context
“Práticas da História” journal
This special issue of Práticas da História is interested in receiving contributions, referring to colonial and post-colonial African contexts. It is important to better understand what is happening in different African countries, at the level of the Academy but also in other spaces where social memory and history confront each other, and how political, ideological, economic and linguistic factors interfere in those situations. In the case of the former Portuguese colonies, which will soon celebrate 50 years of independence, there are additional factors, such as the later end of colonial rule and the delay in historiography about Africa that occurred until recent decades, both in Portugal and in Brazil.

Henri Maldiney : genèse et évolution d’une phénoménologie
Le but de cette journée d’étude sera de croiser deux perspectives sur la genèse et l’évolution de la phénoménologie d’Henri Maldiney. La première perspective s’inscrit dans une approche historique, retraçant la formation du jeune Maldiney ainsi que son premier enseignement dispensé à Gand et Anvers au sortir de la guerre. La deuxième perspective, thématique, s’articule autour l’évolution de cette pensée, pendant ses années lyonnaises et jusqu’aux derniers textes.

Journée d’études des jeunes chercheurs
L’histoire de la phénoménologie à travers ses conflits veut prendre au sérieux et même radicaliser la célèbre formule de Ricoeur selon laquelle « la phénoménologie au sens large est la somme de l’œuvre husserlienne et des hérésies issues de Husserl », en montrant que le déplacement, l’opposition, la contradiction, le désaccord, la contestation, etc. furent et restent des ressorts déterminants du « penser phénoménologique » et de son renouvellement incessant, autrement dit de la vie passée, présente et future de la discipline. Cette manière de faire et d’écrire l’histoire de la phénoménologie nous semble résonner avec nombre de travaux de Jacques Taminiaux, fondateur de notre Centre d’études phénoménologiques (membre associé au réseau des Archives Husserl) ; centre dont nous célébrerons en 2023 le cinquantième anniversaire. Dans le cadre du colloque organisé du 18 au 20 octobre 2023 pour le cinquantième anniversaire du Centre d’études phénomonologiques (CEP), une journée d’étude sur le thème « L’histoire de la phénoménologie à travers ses conflits » aura lieu le 17 octobre 2023.

L’histoire de la phénoménologie à travers ses conflits veut prendre au sérieux et même radicaliser la célèbre formule de Ricoeur selon laquelle « la phénoménologie au sens large est la somme de l’œuvre husserlienne et des hérésies issues de Husserl », en montrant que le déplacement, l’opposition, la contradiction, le désaccord, la contestation, etc. furent et restent des ressorts déterminants du « penser phénoménologique » et de son renouvellement incessant, autrement dit de la vie passée, présente et future de la discipline. Cette manière de faire et d’écrire l’histoire de la phénoménologie nous semble résonner avec nombre de travaux de Jacques Taminiaux, fondateur de notre Centre d’études phénoménologiques (membre associé au réseau des Archives Husserl) ; centre dont nous célébrerons en 2023 le cinquantième anniversaire. C’est aussi en pensant à lui, disparu en 2019, que nous plaçons cette rencontre sous l’égide d’un fragment bien connu d’Héraclite, un présocratique dont il appréciait l’esprit.

A Special Issue of “Práticas da História”
Political and social revolutions are events frequently studied by the discipline of History. However, contributions by historians to the study of the posthumous lives of these events are rarer. This call aims to elicit proposals for articles and essays that focus on the memorialistic trajectories of revolutions. Case studies, historical comparisons, or theory-based approaches may be proposed. The journal Práticas da História also encourages the submission of proposals for articles and essays that focus on how political discourse, commemorative politics, and historical staging have dealt and are dealing with past revolutions, as well as the discussion of issues such as the mobilization of examples, icons, or concepts of past revolutions by revolutionary action. The problem of the inscription (or not) of revolutions in the organics of the regimes that succeed them or, finally, the identification of the beginning/end of a revolution, may also be addressed.

Figures historiques et mythiques nordiques dans les cultures contemporaines
La Scandinavie médiévale nous a légué un patrimoine historique et culturel remarquable. Cette période a notamment été marquée par le phénomène viking qui, entre la fin du VIIIe siècle et le milieu du XIe siècle, a vu un accroissement des contacts et des échanges entre les Scandinaves et les autres Européens. À l’époque contemporaine, ce patrimoine est devenu une source d’inspiration inépuisable et l’objet de réinterprétations constantes... Cette journée d’étude se propose d’explorer les divers usages et réinterprétations des vikings et de la littérature scandinave médiévale à notre époque, aussi bien en envisageant leur place dans la production culturelle que leur évocation dans les débats sociétaux et historiographiques actuels.

Écrits d’artistes et abstraction
Comprendre l’art abstrait par ses écrits d’artistes, tel est le projet de cette journée d’étude qui vise à mettre en lumière les productions écrites des artistes abstraits. Depuis la naissance de l’abstraction, le support théorique de l’écrit d’artiste est investi par Kandinsky, Malevitch et Mondrian, et de nombreux autres artistes à leur suite. En s’intéressant à ces nombreux discours, cette journée d’étude se propose d’envisager une relecture historiographique de l’art abstrait par ses écrits même.

Histoire sociale et politique des mondes historiens en Afrique subsaharienne depuis les années 1960
Cette double journée d’étude propose de revenir sur les mondes historiens africains depuis les indépendances, dans une double perspective d’histoire sociale et d’histoire politique. Quelles sont les trajectoires, individuelles et collectives, des historiens et des historiennes en Afrique depuis les années 1960, depuis leurs formations jusqu’à leurs carrières au sein ou en dehors des sphères académiques ? Dans quelles conditions et au sein de quelles institutions, universitaires et éditoriales notamment, s’élaborent les savoirs historiques et comment circulent-ils dans un contexte de globalisation des connaissances en sciences sociales ? Comment enfin les trajectoires scientifiques des historiennes et des historiens s’articulent-elles à des trajectoires politiques et militantes, dans des périodes de mutations et d’inventivité politiques, aux échelles nationales comme internationales et panafricaines ?

Heading towards a new frontier?
History on the Web, in films and TV series
Over the last few years, we have been witnessing two phenomena which are concurrent and yet apparently in contrast with each other. On one side, there is evidence of a marginalisation of history, in the sense of a crisis of identity and social function, which extends to the very role of historians. On the other side, there is a huge interest in history among the general public in the consumption of cultural products with a historical focus. We invite all interested scholars to submit proposals that may contribute to a discussion about the effects of the popularization of history through products of widespread use.

The Middle Ages of the Social Sciences
The present issue of the Revue d’histoire des sciences humaines intends to gather inquiries into specific uses of the Middle Ages in twentieth century social sciences. The reference to the Middle Ages may result from a scholarly acquaintance with the medieval world, as well as from tools forged by medieval studies. Alternatively, it may be correlated with intricate cultural mediations, for example through religion or literature. We would like to invite the practitioners of the various disciplines of the SSH (psychoanalysis, sociology, historical anthropology, history, the history of science and knowledge, art history, and philosophy, among others) to contribute to this issue either with a case study, or with a broader methodological or epistemological reflection on their scientific and knowledge practices envisioned from an historical point of view.

A New Historiographical Field and its Contribution to the History of Europe
German-Polish history is an innovative and stimulating field in the history of Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. We propose to reflect the historiographical and memorial challenges that governed the formation of this field as well as the concepts and methods on which it has since been built. They are now the basis for the dynamics of the field, due in particular to its ability to associate different scales of analysis from the local to the global level. Special attention will be paid to the contribution of Polish-German history and other »bi-national« historiographies like Franco-German history to the project of writing European history especially when it comes to the specific approaches forged or adopted by historians in these fields (transfer, shared history, histoire croisée, connected history, entangled history, Zwischenraum).

A critical history of display, 1969-2019
Over the last fifty years, museum professionals and academics have paid increasing attention to the question of display and placement in museums and collections. A number of museums have proposed innovatory displays. The time has come to step back and take stock of these various debates and discussions of the last fifty years and then to encourage debate and reflexion on new perspectives for museums and collections in the years to come. The conference will address issues surrounding the display of objects in a variety of museums and collections.
