La culture palestinienne est marquée par le lien étroit avec les notions de mémoire / mémoires et de transmission. Ces mémoires s’expriment à travers une pluralité de récits, de pratiques et de formes d’expression (qu’elles soient artistiques, patrimoniales, linguistiques ou encore sociales). Elles se matérialisent dans des traces visibles et invisibles (objets, archives photographiques, récits oraux, chants traditionnels, pratiques artisanales) mais aussi dans les œuvres contemporaines qui réinterprètent et contribuent à perpétuer ces héritages.

Courtyards and patios in the Mediterranean
The courtyard or patio house, based on the intimate appropriation of a fragment of sky at the heart of the domestic space, is a major archetype of human habitation. Deeply rooted in Mediterranean traditions, it surprises with its longevity and its ability to generate unique expressions, shaped by the diversity of physical and cultural contexts. This archetype, which has spanned the centuries, from the ancient world to contemporary projects, continues to inspire architects, thinkers, and creators, and has regained particular relevance in light of the challenges of the 21st century, as contemporary issues invite us to rethink modes of dwelling. To explore these dimensions, the conference adopts a multidisciplinary approach structured around four cross-cutting themes. It is aimed at a diverse range of profiles—architects, historians, anthropologists, sociologists, archaeologists, artists, writers, climatologists, etc.—drawing on scientific contributions, feedback from architects, and artistic expressions.

Le très grand développement d’internet a augmenté le nombre de ses utilisateurs dans le monde oriental et méditerranéen au cours de ces dernières années, et doit à nos yeux s’accompagner de recherches approfondies dans les domaines de la traduction, du patrimoine, des pratiques pédagogiques et scientifiques et des humanités numériques. Cela implique à la fois des recherches techniques en informatique et en sciences de l’information appliquées aux langues et aux cultures et à leur enseignement-apprentissage dans les pays arabes, mais également une réflexion analytique et critique sur le patrimoine méditerranéen et oriental, notamment arabe, ses textes et discours et leur appréciation par les récépteurs des différentes langues-cultures. Il s’agit là d’un domaine de recherche relativement nouveau en ce qui concerne les langues et les cultures, et d’un important défi à relever.

Colloque final du projet JPI-CH Olive4ALL
Afin de clore les travaux menés pendant ces quatre ans sur l’olivier et ses patrimoines, l’équipe France organise un colloque du 23 au 26 avril 2025 à Avignon. Durant ces quatre jours, les chercheurs ayant participé au projet présenterontune synthèse des travaux menés au sein des trois pays. Il s’agira aussi d’ouvrir denouvelles perspectives, d’envisager l’avenir et la manière de poursuivre des travaux communs, en invitant d’autres chercheurs à réfléchir aux côtés des équipesdu projet. Ce colloque s’articulera en différentes sessions de communications, de rencontres, de tables-rondes, de visites et de dégustations.

The CIDEHUS (Interdisciplinary Center for History, Cultures, and Societies) is a non-profit research unit in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. Its core discipline is History, and its scientific program focuses on studying the impact of diversity and changes in the South over the long term. The "South" it engages with is multifaceted: not only the South of Portugal but also this political formation in the context of Southern Europe and the geographies of the southern hemisphere with which it has had historical ties in the past. It publishes two collections of academic books, both of which undergo scientific peer review by international committees, using the "double-blind peer review" system. These collections are titled: "Biblioteca - Estudos & Colóquios" and "Fontes & Inventários." As the name suggests, the latter is dedicated to disseminating research tools and sources that aid researchers in their work.

Spatialité et diachronie de la gestion de l’eau en Méditerranée
The conference organised on 28 and 29 November 2024 as part of Marina Covolan's CIVIS3i SeBNA - Water distribution systems in the ancient world: forms of continuity, permanence and subsistence in contemporary society, focuses on the supply, storage and disposal of water over the centuries. The aim is to compare technologies, structures and knowledge that are distant in time and space, but which seem to recur and have many points in common. Around a dozen French and European colleagues from Scotland, Spain, Italy and Sweden will be taking part, covering a wide range of subjects and fields. There will also be a poster session, mainly by young researchers working on current projects or PhD.

La Provence au carrefour des trajectoires artistiques au XVIIe siècle
Production, marchés, circulations
Par sa position géographique, la Provence, comprise ici de Nice à Montpellier jusqu’au Comtat Venaissin, apparaît comme un creuset privilégié pour réfléchir à la pluralité des circulations artistiques. Ouverte sur la Méditerranée, forte d’un actif commerce maritime, la Provence est la dernière étape française sur le chemin de l’Italie, à une époque où le voyage à Rome demeure indispensable à la formation des artistes. L’objet du colloque est d’appréhender ce territoire singulier comme un carrefour, à la fois géographique et social, où se croisent et se nouent des trajectoires artistiques diverses. Il questionnera la spécificité des principaux centres qui contribuèrent à son attractivité et s’intéressera à la circulation des artistes, des modèles et des œuvres entre le nord et l’Italie. La dernière session sera consacrée à la manière dont les œuvres ou artistes provençaux ont pu eux aussi s’imposer comme des sources d’inspirations.

Cette troisième rencontre des jeunes chercheurs sur l’Italie préromaine a vocation à proposer un espace de réflexion pluridisciplinaire sur les études autour de l’image, quelle que soit sa forme, son contenu, son contexte, sa perception, sa compréhension ou la méthodologie adoptée pour son analyse. Elle vise ainsi à interroger l’image dans sa globalité et sous tous ses aspects, des approches les plus traditionnelles aux plus innovantes et permettra de réfléchir sur les différentes modalités à partir desquelles il est possible de (re)construire une image.

The Levant and the Mediterranean

At the crossroads of the Near East and the eastern Mediterranean, the Levant has always been a multicultural area, a zone of contact between Asia, Africa and Europe. Since the 19th century, archaeological digs have been revealing the archaeology and history of this region. This issue of Technè reflects the changes and challenges facing archaeology in this region, and highlights the contribution of a multidisciplinary approach to the knowledge and preservation of the Levant's heritage, from the Neolithic period to the end of the Middle Ages.

L’humour méditerranéen : spécificités, interférences et créations
Sans faire l’histoire de l’humour en Méditerranée, nous comptons engager une réflexion qui tente d’interroger les particularités de l’humour relatives à chaque espace géographique. Dans un second temps, nous mettons l’accent sur les matrices, les caractéristiques communes qui conditionnent la gestion et la régie de l’humour dans cet espace de partage partant du fait que les nombreux contacts, complices ou « belliqueux », entre les différents espaces méditerranéens ne sont pas sans créer des connivences, des socles civilisationnels et culturels communs qui conditionnent et régissent les différents champs de la création : verbale, artistique, littéraire… Des dénominateurs communs aptes à façonner un comportement et une expression humoristique spécifiques.

Olive4All: The actors of the olive tree heritage and their commitment
The first conference organised in the framework of the JPI-CH Olive4All project will take place in Kalamata from 28 May to 1 June 2022. It is part of the first workpackage of the project dedicated to the inventory of the olive tree heritage and to the identification of the actors who own it in the three regions of the programme (Provence in France, Messinia in Greece, Tras o Montes, Alto Douro and Alentejo in Portugal). Based on the joint surveys carried out, we will look at the actors linked to the olive tree heritage, the motivations for their commitment to its preservation and the forms of this commitment.

The Invention of Greek origins in the textual and visual cultures of pre-modern Europe (1100-1600)
The ERC Advanced Grant AGRELITA Project studies the Reception of Ancient Greece in pre-modern French Literature and Illustrations of Manuscripts and Printed Books (1320-1550) : How invented memories shaped the identity of European communities. These workshops aim to explore the uses, functions and purposes of the discourses on Greek origins and the polysemy of this concept between 1100 and 1600, in European textual, visual and material cultures, hinging on the following questions : how the authors and artists considered the notion of origin(s)? What both unites and distinguishes it from heritage ? Why Greeks ? Which Greece(s) are thought of as origins ? Whose origins are these ? What modalities of representation and what processes of appropriation appear? For what purposes and for what audiences?

Travelling Matters: rereading, reshaping, reusing objects across the Mediterranean
The workshop “Travelling matters: rereading, reshaping, reusing objects across the Mediterranean” intends to tackle objects as sources and subjects of the history of cross-cultural encounters in innovative ways. We intend to discuss a most diverse array of objects flowing in all directions and to concentrate on the “second-handedness” of displaced objects: how and why moving objects acquire new functions and new meanings, and with what consequences for the relations between the communities involved? These perspectives demand a broad chronology, extending from antiquity to the present-day, and for the intersection between different time frames, from the relatively narrow scale of individual objects being displaced across the Mediterranean to the much larger one of the histories of their reinterpretation and repurposing.

Le colloque international « Halaesa : du site à la ville, de la ville au site » a pour double objectif de présenter les résultats scientifiques des travaux des missions archéologiques et des spécialistes qui travaillent sur le site, et de faire dialoguer les spécialistes et les institutions qui constituent le cadre et le support nécessaires à la réalisation des travaux de recherche, mais aussi à l'utilisation et à la valorisation du site.

Une exposition et des conférences mettront à l'honneur cet événement.

Historiography of the Perception of Islam through Manuscripts, Korans and their Displacement
The aim of this workshop is to approach the question of the relationship between Christianity and Islam through the study of the production, circulation and uses of Arabic manuscripts, and mainly Korans, in the late medieval and early modern Mediterranean Europe. Our assumption is that the Balkans, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula form an axis of circulation which is especially significant for our understanding of the Mediterranean Sea as a comprehensive space of cultural, political and religious contact.
