Dans les carnets d’un savant-voyageur en Éthiopie
Transcrire et éditer les carnets d’Antoine d’Abbadie (mi-XIXe s.)
Durant la décennie 1840, un savant français, Antoine d’Abbadie, voyagea dans la Corne de l’Afrique. Il y fit de nombreuses observations scientifiques qu’il consigna dans une vingtaine de carnets. Le projet MSS-Abbadie, inscrit dans le quadriennal de la recherche de la BnF (2020-23) a œuvré à rendre accessible cette profusion de notes, en numérisant les originaux, en les déposant sur Gallica, en décrivant les manuscrits et en les proposant à la transcription collaborative sur la plateforme Transcrire. Ces journées d’étude se veulent un moment partagé pour conclure ce premier volet du travail sur les carnets de notes d’Antoine d’Abbadie et préparer la suite, en particulier l’édition électronique.

In the notebooks of a scholar travelling in Ethiopia
Transcribing and editing the notebooks of Antoine d’Abbadie (mid-19th century)
During the decade of 1840, a French scientist, Antoine d'Abbadie, traveled to the Horn of Africa. Self-funded, he made numerous scientific observations that he recorded in some twenty notebooks. The MSS-Abbadie project, part of the BnF's four-year research program (2020-23), has been working to make this profusion of notes accessible by digitizing the originals, depositing them on Gallica, describing the manuscripts, and offering them for collaborative transcription on the Transcrire platform. This call for participation invites the contributors who took part in this crowdsourcing adventure to return some of the knowledge acquired during this transcription work, as well as to testify about it and the working methods that were experienced. It remains wide open to researchers from outside the project who can provide a fresh look at both the historical context and the new approaches currently being applied to this type of corpus and situations.

The focus of the project is on cultural and scientific historical sources of the 18th and 19th centuries in the context of Alexander von Humboldt's American journey.

Industry Practices and Public Interests in Great Britain from the 18th Century to the Present
This conference seeks to bring together specialists of Great Britain from the eighteenth century to the present to explore the complex relationship between copyright and the circulation of knowledge. We welcome case studies that focus on a particular time period as well as papers that show how attitudes and practices have changed over time.

Grundlagen der digitalen Textedition
Im Rahmen des Romanistentags in Würzburg wird ein Workshop zum Thema "Grundlagen der digitalen Textedition" angeboten. Der praxisnahe Workshop richtet sich an RomanistInnen, die auf der Basis von Textmaterialien forschen und Interesse haben, aktuelle Methoden der Erschließung und Edition von Primärquellen kennenzulernen oder diese Methoden möglicherweise in einem eigenen Projekt anwenden möchten. Ziel des Workshops ist es, mit der Theorie und Praxis der digitalen Textedition, d.h. der digitalen Repräsentation von Text und dessen Eigenschaften, vertraut zu machen. Besondere technische oder fachwissenschaftliche Vorkenntnisse sind nicht notwendig.

Bouvard et Pécuchet : les « seconds volumes » possibles

Largement ouvert au public, le colloque interdisciplinaire « Bouvard et Pécuchet : les "seconds volumes" possibles – documentation, circulations, édition » se propose de rendre compte des travaux menés pendant la période de financement du projet BOUVARD par l’Agence nationale de la recherche (2008-2012), de diffuser les résultats obtenus et de réfléchir aux différentes suites à donner. En liaison avec l’ouverture au public du site d’édition des dossiers documentaires du dernier roman de Flaubert (http://dossiers-flaubert.ish-lyon.cnrs.fr/), ce colloque – centré sur l’« encyclopédie critique en farce » conçue par l’écrivain et son énigmatique second volume – sera le lieu d’échanges entre des chercheurs spécialistes de littérature, d’histoire littéraire et des rapports entre littérature et sciences.
