By choosing to focus on South-North circulations, this seminar is dedicated to the deconstruction of the “British Empire” as a homogeneous category to write and think about the intellectual, artistic, and political histories of the people who circulate and inhabit this polity known as the Commonwealth of Nations in the post-Bandung era. Working from the assumption that committed artists, intellectuals and political activists from the Global South have networked and connected within this space, we seek to interrogate the counter-hegemonic nature of the knowledge, theories and artistic practices produced during the post-Bandung era.

Cette journée d’étude s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une collaboration entre des chercheuses et chercheurs américanistes des universités de Caen Normandie et de Rennes 2, dans le cadre du projet Expérimenter les citoyennetés dans les Amériques (ECsAMs), impulsé par l’Institut des Amériques (IDA). Tout au long de son histoire, le continent américain a été marqué par de profondes transformations dans les relations entre l’État, le territoire et les droits ; dans ce contexte, la citoyenneté a été une catégorie politique centrale, intensément discutée. Cette journée d’étude propose d’interroger les dispositifs institutionnels des citoyennetés, c’est-à-dire, les mécanismes par lesquels l’État accorde, conditionne ou refuse certaines formes de citoyenneté. Ces dispositifs font l’objet de contestations et de réappropriations de la part de divers acteurs sociaux, en particulier de ceux et celles qui ont toujours été marginalisé.es par le pouvoir.

In recent years, there has been a resurgence of Islamic studies in Portuguese lands. Archaeological campaigns and documentation-based research have brought to light valueable information about the Andalusian occupation in this area and the Muslim permanence under Christian rule, both as slaves and as mouros forros. The aim of this monographic issue is to serve as a compilation and new impetus for this research into the Muslim presence in Portuguese lands, both under the sphere of Andalusian influence (Garb al-Andalus) and under Christian rule (Portugal).

Idéologies d’Afrique, idéologies sur l’Afrique
Séminaire d’études africaines
Les intervenant(e)s, africains ou non, proposeront dans ce séminaire, la manière dont les idéologies d’Afrique comme celles sur l’Afrique (panafricanisme, afrocentrisme, négroafricanisme et les aspects idéologiques du postcolonialisme) ont marqué l’histoire récente du continent et continuent à influencer les domaines politiques, religieux, culturels et économiques en apparaissant, ou non, comme une promesse d’avenir. Une approche critique des discours, des idées reçues et des idéologies, faites par divers chercheurs, philosophes, sociologues, anthropologues, théologiens, etc., devrait provoquer des échanges fructueux sur l’Afrique tout au long du séminaire.

Vibrations poétiques et (re)lectures contemporaines
La littérature francoprovençale représente un patrimoine des plus précieux car, à travers l’œuvre de tant de femmes et d’hommes, le francoprovençal s’insère dans un contexte privilégié, à l’écart des logiques sociales et politiques qui ont imposé l’hégémonie des grandes langues de communication. Si cette langue semble aujourd’hui nous échapper, de plus en plus - y compris à ses locuteurs - elle ne s’en épanouit pas moins à l’écrit, faisant preuve d’une vigueur et d’une ductilité dont nos contemporains peuvent tirer profit, qu’ils soient chercheurs ou enseignants, locuteurs ou spécialistes, lecteurs ou écrivains.

Retours d’exil et minorités religieuses à l’époque moderne
Moins abordés par l’historiographie que les refuges religieux, les retours d’exil ont pourtant joué un rôle important dans le façonnage des identités confessionnelles entre le XVIe et le XVIIIe siècle. Ce colloque se propose de réfléchir à cette « zone grise » historiographique en interrogeant les apports de l’expérience de l’exil aux religions par le retour dans leur territoire d’origine d’individus ou de groupes réfugiés (revenants ou returnees), les modalités de ces retours (individuels, collectifs, clandestins, officiels, ...) et leurs effets sociaux politiques et culturels (concorde, réconciliation ou renforcement de la distinction confessionnelle et du zèle religieux, ...).

El dossier analiza las conmemoraciones de la independencia del Perú, no solo centradas en la proclamación de 1821, sino también en otros eventos que marcaron el camino de la emancipación peruana. Propone interrogar el lugar que ocupan en estas conmemoraciones hechos menos visibilizados (como la batalla de Umachiri o las expediciones en Pasco, Tarma o Jauja), y propone entender las conmemoraciones como una forma de narrar y representar la historia.

La mémoire, en tant qu'outil protéiforme, constitue un thème historiquement transversal qui permet de faire dialoguer des périodes, approches et méthodologies différentes.

Too often confined in the perimeter of military studies, the concept of débâcle discloses a plurality of dramatic, iridescent, vivid meanings. Facing a defeat means participating in a collective trauma, questioning established certainties, redeeming national identity in the face of a moral and political challenge. Rather than reconstructing the episodes of defeat and rebirth in French history, the eighth call for papers of Suite française invites to reflect on the perception of such episodes and their disruptive psychological and political impact. How were débâcle and similar categories such as décadence, trauma, failure, and renascence used by thinkers witnessing the Terror, Sedan, Vichy, and Dien Bien Phu?

Translation and Translators in the Colonial Context
Roles, Functions and Narratives
The chronological reading of colonial contexts allows us to identify the “organic” link between translation and the colonial project, before, during and after the military occupation. Translation has acquired several functions; highlighting the role of the translator between the narratives of the colonizer and that of the colonized. Until 2000, seventy percent of the world's population had a “colonial” past, either as a colonizer or as a colonized. (Etemad, 258), which suggests that more than seventy percent of the world's population have been affected, and perhaps still are, through the prism of translation. The Conference will attempt to understand how translation was put at the service of the colonial project? What translation approaches have been adopted by translators and interpreters? How did translational discourse influence the cultures of the occupier and the occupied?

Bringing together specialists of the Ancient Near Eastern and Ancient Greek worlds, this international congress will discuss the appearance during the Iron Age I-II of new figures of power and of power management, opposing or presenting political alternatives to the ideologies and socio-economic functioning of the dominant power systems, thus leading, at times, to significant political changes. The debate may highlight the transformative capacity of ancient political systems, going beyond the usual opposition between the extreme conservatism recognized in Near Eastern despotisms, centralized but also often imperialist, and, on the other hand, the evolutionary tendency attributed to the political systems of the Greek world.

Practices, languages and politics in transit in the Middle East and North Africa, le panel « Cultures nomades et nationalismes dans l’Ouest saharien (XIXe-XXe siècle) : hommes, lieux et courants de pensée ». Le panel entend se focaliser sur les courants culturels et politiques qui ont déterminé l’évolution des nationalismes de l’Ouest Saharien à partir du début du XXe siècle ainsi que sur l’histoire des personnalités qui, en se déplaçant dans d’autres parties du monde arabe et/ou africain, ont permis la transmission de conceptions sociétales, de visions du monde et de nouvelles structures de pouvoir.

This international conference wants to reflect on the interaction between local agents and the institutional State Building policies between the 17th and the 19th Centuries. The construction of the Modern State, far from being a top-down vertical process, has consisted of a debate, often tense - if not adverse - between the interests of local communities and the State apparatus or raison d'état. In this way, the aim is to achieve a much more complete knowledge of the construction of the Modern State based on the study of the local sphere. The conference presented here is undoubtedly boldly conceived: to bring together marginal orisolated aspects and intertwine them to revisit specific historiographical hypotheses.

Nous étudierons les gauches germanophones dans les différents pays d’Europe centrale et orientale où elles étaient présentes (Tchécoslovaquie, Pologne, Hongrie, Roumanie...), mais aussi en Europe occidentale (France, Danemark). Nous rechercherons leur positionnement par rapport à leurs États respectifs, aux pays germanophones, aux autres minorités nationales et aux gauches germanophones et non germanophones. Nous nous intéresserons notamment aux stratégies développées face au national-socialisme, à l’austrofascisme et aux divers régimes autoritaires européens.
