La culture palestinienne est marquée par le lien étroit avec les notions de mémoire / mémoires et de transmission. Ces mémoires s’expriment à travers une pluralité de récits, de pratiques et de formes d’expression (qu’elles soient artistiques, patrimoniales, linguistiques ou encore sociales). Elles se matérialisent dans des traces visibles et invisibles (objets, archives photographiques, récits oraux, chants traditionnels, pratiques artisanales) mais aussi dans les œuvres contemporaines qui réinterprètent et contribuent à perpétuer ces héritages.

Les camps de la pauvreté. Migrations internes forcées
À l’occasion de l’exposition photographique de Danilo De Marco, « Les Camps de la Pauvreté. Migrations internes forcées des Kurdes de Turquie (1990-2000) », présentée à l’Humathèque du 12 décembre 2025 au 21 février 2026, nous vous proposons un cycle de conférences. Il met en lumière des études de cas qui montrent que les migrations forcées ne constituent pas un phénomène temporaire. Elles engendrent une marginalisation durable des populations concernées : perte de leurs terres et de leurs moyens de subsistance, rupture avec leurs traditions et leur culture, déscolarisation des enfants, précarisation économique et exclusion sociale. Ces effets, ainsi que les défis qu’ils soulèvent, doivent être envisagés dans une perspective de long terme.

Dimensions spatiales des pratiques d’asile (trans)nationales dans les littératures allemande, française et espagnole des XXe et XXIe siècles
Le colloque explore l’articulation entre asile et espace à travers le prisme des études culturelles et littéraires. À la lumière du Spatial Turn, de la Critical Geography, de la Feminist Geography et de la Postcolonial Spatial Theory, l’espace peut être compris comme le produit d’une pratique socialement construite et dynamique. Comment les littératures allemande, française et espagnole des XXe et XXIe siècles localisent-elles et matérialisent-elles les pratiques d’asile ? Quelles institutions sont mises en exergue et quelles esthétiques suscitent-elles ?

La dictature des Duvalier, quarante ans plus tard : mémoires, histoire, héritages
Le 7 février 2026 marquera le 40e anniversaire du départ en exil de Jean-Claude Duvalier. À l’occasion de cet anniversaire, ce colloque international se propose d’examiner les spécificités et les enjeux du régime dictatorial instauré par les Duvalier en Haïti — François Duvalier (1957-1971), puis Jean-Claude Duvalier (1971-1986). Il se déroulera les 5 et 6 février 2026 au Carrefour des arts et des sciences de l’Université de Montréal et réunira des chercheurs.euses, des écrivain.e.s, des artistes ainsi que des acteurs communautaires en articulant des savoirs académiques et des pratiques de terrain. Cet événement scientifique aura lieu dans le cadre plus large d’une semaine d’activités visant à marquer les 40 ans de la chute de la dictature des Duvalier.

Enseñar el exilio: innovación y literatura de la migración en la enseñanza universitaria
Congreso internacional de innovación didáctica
La literatura del exilio y de la migración constituye un corpus esencial para reflexionar, desde el aula universitaria, sobre las experiencias del desarraigo, la pérdida, la reconstrucción identitaria y la transmisión de la memoria. Al mismo tiempo, interpela a docentes y estudiantes sobre el papel de la educación superior en la formación de sujetos críticos y sensibles ante los desplazamientos forzados y las fronteras, tanto geográficas como simbólicas. Partiendo de una concepción de la enseñanza como acto ético y de la literatura como vehículo de memoria, de empatía y de cuestionamiento, este encuentro busca generar herramientas para integrar en la docencia universitaria una lectura crítica, interdisciplinar y comprometida de estas obras, con especial atención a su potencial formativo en términos de sensibilización, conciencia histórica y construcción identitaria.

From Japan to Brazil and Vice-versa: Historical and Aesthetic Perspectives of a Diasporic Cinema
In 2024, the 77th Festival of Cannes' short film competition selected Amarela (2024),a film by Japanese-Brazilian director André Hayato Saito, which focuses on the experiencesof Japanese-Brazilians. This event reflects a growing interest in a diverse, transnational, andmultilingual filmography on the subject of the Japanese diaspora, particularly theJapanese-Brazilians, who are the largest group affected by return migration (or “detourmigration” (Perroud, 2007)) to Japan. This Young Researchers Colloquium aims atvisualizing and discussing that film corpus and its aesthetic, socio-historical andmethodological issues.

Il abordera leurs ancrages sociaux, culturels et géographiques, ainsi que la diversité des constructions politiques et identitaires qui les traversent.

The “Islam - Migrations - Gender” workshop aims to initiate a dialogue between three fields of research that communicate little: the history of Islam, the history of migrations and the history of gender. The first is too focused on religious dimensions for some, the second is too focused on state control of migration others, and the third is too “militant” for the rest. How, then, can we write a social and cultural history of Muslims in Europe that integrates gender as a category of historical analysis and focuses on the daily lives of the actors, highlighting their “agency”?

Le colloque s’intéressera à l’exil contemporain des XXe et XXIe siècless (politique, économique, climatologique, social, etc.) dans sa spécificité féminine. De ce fait, la question principale sera donc : comment vivre l’exil au féminin ? Existe-t-il une différence vécue entre l’exil masculin et l’exil féminin ?

Nationality Policies and the Migratory Experience in the Early 20th Century
Revue “Diasporas. Circulations, Migrations, Histoire”
This thematic issue of Diasporas. Circulations, Migrations, Histoire journal aims to examine mechanisms of loss and deprivation of nationality, as well as operations aimed at requalifying the boundary between nationals and non-nationals through citizenship rights, while paying close attention to the effects of these procedures on migrants’ experiences. We welcome interdisciplinary contributions that incorporate theoretical and methodological approaches from diverse fields such as law, political science, geography, anthropology, and sociology, enriching historical perspectives. Articles must adopt an empirical methodological approach. We welcome proposals that focus on non-Western contexts.

Thinking and Making Europe through the Experience of Exile and Displacement (20th–21st centuries)
The conference will explore the role of displaced and exiled populations in the construction of Europe, whether they came from European countries or other regions of the world. Taking a resolutely multi-disciplinary approach, the conference will especially focus on the period that began with the Spanish Civil War and the outbreak of the Second World War, although it will not exclude looking at earlier periods. The central question will be to examine how these actors conceived of and made Europe – how they contributed to its construction, or on the contrary to its failure. We will explore how these populations experienced European conflicts, violence, and control mechanisms, in other words the resources, uses, representations, and statements that have shaped this Europe on the move.
