Attractiveness and mobility networks: seducing, welcoming and integrating
As part of the study day "Attractiveness and Mobility Networks," PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and scholars are invited to explore the dynamics of attractiveness in individual and collective mobilities, from the Bronze Age to the modern era. The event focuses on the legal, political, and social mechanisms implemented to attract, welcome, and integrate individuals into networks. It also examines the formal and informal circulation of information, as well as the processes of community clustering. Particular attention will be given to both the successes and failures of these mechanisms of attractiveness.

The "new clothes" of authoritarianism in the Middle East
Confluences Méditerranée Journal
Authoritarianism in the Middle East has undergone a series of mutations, in various forms, without in many cases fundamentally shaking its traditional patrimonial, military and rentier structures. The "Arab Springs" of 2011 revealed the flaws in these systems. However, recent developments have also illustrated how the notion of political change can actually amount to a veneer of continuity. Many of these regimes have adapted to popular protest and overcome it by adopting a range of measures - from liberalisation to cooperation, from modernisation to coercion. With this in mind, this issue of Confluences Méditerranée will look at this complex issue through a series of interdisciplinary contributions based on existing literature and grounded in field studies.

Music in the Middle East after the digital revolution
Journal “Regards”
This issue of the journal Regards (Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth) proposes to investigate the dynamics of musical production and forms of dissemination in the contemporary Near East, particularly through the do it yourself practices that have emerged with the advent of home studios and low-cost listening platforms. The challenge of such a study is thus to confront the different aesthetics of today's music, blending diverse intellectual and cultural heritages, mobilizing the affects of nostalgia and those linked to the historical realities shared by the region's inhabitants. The question of understanding the articulation of musical dynamics with social, political and state boundaries and different contexts of conflict will be explored.

14th International Congress on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East
The International Congress on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East has been organised since 1998 by the scientific community of scholars working on and in the Near East. It is an exceptional forum for dialogue and scientific exchanges between all colleagues involved in the study of the Ancient Near East. After twelve years, the ICAANE comes back to France to the city of lights Lyon. From June 2 to 7 2025, the fourteenth International Congress on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East will take place in Lyon. It is organised by the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and the Maison de l’Orient et de la Méditerranée.

Quel impact des plateformes numériques ?
Le XXIe forum du Réseau transméditerranéen de recherche en communication (RTRC) entend questionner une nouvelle fois la dialectique entre l’espoir de communication transméditerranéenne et la réalité des incommunications, sans occulter l’épée de Damoclès que représentent aujourd’hui les risques réels de l’acommunication. Le RTRC interroge ces concepts au prisme d’un acteur montant et tendanciellement hégémonique de nos pratiques communicationnelles : les plateformes numériques. Les propositions sélectionnées feront l'objet d'une valorisation post-colloque dans la perspective de la publication d’un ouvrage collectif.

Notre cycle de conférences souhaite faire la lumière sur la question migratoire dans le monde arabe tout en interrogeant la production scientifique locale existante sur ce sujet. En décentrant notre regard sur les études migratoires, nous tenterons de comprendre les dynamiques migratoires locales et régionales et leur impact sur les sociétés. Nous espérons que ce cycle suscitera ensuite de nouvelles perspectives de recherches sur ce phénomène dans et entre les sociétés arabes.

Le colloque Iconographie cynégétique des mondes anciens se tiendra à Paris la semaine du 22 au 26 avril 2024 (jours définitifs annoncés ultérieurement) et vise à rassembler les contributions de chercheurs travaillant spécifiquement sur l’image, ou incluant l’image dans leur travail, et dont le domaine de spécialisation se situe dans l’Antiquité, incluant le pourtour Méditerranéen et l’Asie occidentale. La réflexion menée lors de ce colloque se fera sur les axes de recherche suivant : construire l’iconographie cynégétique ; les images de la chasse : une source historique ; images de la chasse et idéologie du pouvoir ; la chasse et sa mise en scène, des enjeux rituels ; Mythologie et iconographie cynégétique.

Les séismes qui secouent la Turquie et la Syrie depuis le 6 février 2023 sont sans précédent au Moyen-Orient depuis le XIIe siècle. Dans une région déjà frappée par la guerre et les tensions régionales, l’ampleur des dégâts matériels d’une part, et le nombre de victimes qui avoisine les 50 000 morts d’autre part, focalisent l’attention médiatique et remettent le lien entre politique et action humanitaire au centre du débat. Cette table ronde vise à sortir du traitement médiatique de cette catastrophe pour interroger ce qu’ils posent comme défis aux relations internationales.

Bande dessinée. Littératie et créations numériques : quels enjeux pour demain ?
Du papier aux nouveaux médias, la BD explore désormais de nouveaux terrains de jeu. L’intrusion du numérique impose de nouvelles pratiques, tant du point de vue du lettrage que de la traduction et ce, dans toute la chaîne de création et de fabrication. Ce sont ces questions qui seront abordées lors de ce colloque.

2020 marque le lancement de la première de la quatrième édition de l’école de recherche CORMED. Cette première édition est composée de 3 journées de rencontres-formation multisituées organisées dans trois pays partenaires : France, Tunisie, Turquie. Chaque journée de rencontre-formation comptera des sessions communes numériques organisées alternativement par un des pays (France, Tunisie, Turquie) et des ateliers de deux heures organisés dans les différents sites des partenaires.

Cette journée d’études invite les chercheurs à discuter des travaux traitant des unités lexicales et les formes discursives, comme objets de recherche de la lexicologie, la lexicographie, la sémantique lexicale et l’ethno-psycho-sociolinguistique, et ce dans l’objectif d’identifier les éventuelles formes de substitution, d’emprunt, d’adaptation, d’hybridation, etc. marquant les langues de la Méditerranée. L'objectif de ceci sera de rendre compte de la configuration des langues et des discours dans le monde arabe et méditerranéen et de l'influence des langues présentes dans cette région sur les pratiques sociales et culturelles.

Le monde des arts s’offre au regard, peut-être beaucoup plus aujourd’hui que par le passé, comme une scène bigarrée où tous les possibles concourent à l’expression du monde, une expression subjective engageant un je, singulier ou pluriel, mais revendiquée comme telle, et quelle qu’elle soit : directe, donnée au figuré, sous enveloppe métaphorique, hybride, protéique ou … carrément inachevée. Le « non finito » dans l’art, s’il avait eu du temps, de Michel Ange, un aspect anecdotique, achève aujourd’hui de constituer une véritable mouvance tant dans les galeries d’art, les fabriques du livre, le septième art, les arts dramatiques avec des appellations souvent confondantes, devenues presque consacrées : esquisse, story board, rushes, work in process, mise en bouche, mise en espace, première (en parlant de théâtre), œuvre en devenir, etc...

Urban and architectural identities in Mediterranean cities
Identités urbaines et architecturales dans les villes méditerranéennes
The architectural and urban diversity characterising mediterranean city is inseparable from their identity. It seems clear at that this diversity and multiplicity of different identities shoud be considered as one of the greatest cultural and human values. The coexistence of forms in time and space, the blending of urban and architectural cultures, influences and contaminations, even the contrast and and contradictions of identity that are revealed in the mediterranean urban territory reflect the stratification of the city in its pragmatics implications and its identity meanings. Today, in a context of a competition and attractiveness betwen territories, several mediterranean cities are going through a period of profound changes. Faced with these transformations, the reference to "identity territories" (Troin, 2004) and the ability of the city to build an identity and speared it among the population are called into question.

Revue Confluences Méditerranée journal
Rachat de ports ou d’entreprises énergétiques, redéploiement de la route de la Soie, proposition d’un plan de paix dans le conflit israélo-palestinien, la politique chinoise en Méditerranée est souvent analysée à l’aune de l’émergence d’un nouvel acteur faisant preuve d’activisme dans la région. Elle fait l’objet de beaucoup de fantasmes. Le mégaprojet « Belt and Road Initative » (BRI) lancé par le président chinois Xi Jin-Ping en 2013 suscite bien des attentions et des spéculations. Si le projet est impressionnant par son ampleur, les dynamiques sociospatiales qu’il implique ne sont pourtant pas forcément nouvelles. L’objectif de ce numéro est d’étudier les modalités différenciées de la présence chinoise sur les deux rives de Méditerranée.

It is published twice a year and is trilingual (French, English and Arabic). It comprises a call for papers section, a Varia section and a reviews section. For its second issue, Regards launches a call for papers for its thematic dossier as well as for its Varia section.
