Que fait une sculpture à un jardin ? Que fait un jardin à une sculpture ? (XVIIe-XXIe siècle)

Cette journée d’étude s’inscrit dans le cadre de la 22^eédition des Rendez-vous aux jardins organisée les vendredi 6, samedi 7 et dimanche 8 juin 2025, qui a pour thème « Jardins de pierres - pierres de jardins ». Lors de cette journée d’étude, pourront être abordées des études de cas d’une même œuvre déclinée dans des tailles et matériaux différents, dont l’effet produit sur un jardin peut être déterminant pour sa composition ou au contraire devenir dérisoire.

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the crucial role of transport in times of health crisis, and the need for trained, responsive professionals. This workshop focuses on sanitary prevention and the practices of health professionals at sea, on board ships or in port environments. Over three centuries, the transnational approach covers military and merchant navies, both sailing and steam-powered, in ports on three continents.

La journée d’étude internationale « Tattooist VS Tattooer. La figure du tatoueur au prisme de l’histoire de l’art » est dédiée à l’historicisation de la construction de la figure du tatoueur, entre artiste et artisan. Elle vise à encourager le dialogue entre historiens et historiennes de l’art, artistes et artisans du tatouage afin d’explorer les enjeux historiques et actuels de cette évolution.

Private Writings of Dignitaries in Exile on Reunion Island

This workshop explores the intimate effects of the educational experience of dignitaries exiled to Reunion Island at the dawn of the 20th century. Experimenting seclusion, their exile was also a time of publicizing their words, with the publication of memoirs and press articles. The aim is to see how these prison worlds, which were on the increase during the colonial period, helped shape the bodies and souls of the inmates. Focusing on the writings of exiled dignitaries, this workshop seeks to probe the intimate changes that these new scholastic knowledges operate in terms of sociability, relationship to self and others, in a context of resistance to French occupation.

Édouard Laboulaye et la galaxie libérale

Édouard Laboulaye (1811-1883) a tenu une place considérable dans la vie intellectuelle, scientifique, juridique et politique française du XIX^e siècle. Outre la biographie intellectuelle que lui a consacrée en 1989 André Dauteribes, deux journées d’études lui ont été dédiées plus récemment : la première, au Collège de France, à l’occasion du bicentenaire de sa naissance (Revue internationale de droit comparé, 63/3, 2011) ; la seconde à l’université de Cergy-Pontoise en décembre 2016 sur sa pensée juridique et politique (Revue française d’Histoire des idées politiques, 2018/1). Toutefois, bien des aspects de son action sont à revisiter, de sa formation à sa correspondance privée, de ses multiples réseaux, de son influence intellectuelle et politique sur la galaxie libérale.

Les actes de ces manifestations feront prochainement l’objet d’une publication chez Brepols dans la collection « Recherches sur les Réceptions de l’Antiquité ». Afin d’enrichir cette publication et le panorama proposé au lecteur sur cet axe de recherche, l’ERC AGRELITA lance un appel à contributions, avec l’objectif d’inclure des articles portant uniquement sur la période allant de la fin du XVI^e au XIX^e siècles inclus.

Crime, Surveillance and Mobilities in the Atlantic, 19th and 20th centuries

As part of the project International collaborations: crime and police cooperation in the Ibero-American Atlantic, 1870-1940, financed by the of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Portugal and hosted by CIES-Iscte, this international meeting aims to bring together researchers working in the study of criminal behaviours of a transnational nature, transnational mobilities and the development of forms of international and transnational political and cross-border surveillance, involving the Atlantic and connecting Europe, the Americas and Africa, during the 19th and 20th centuries. This congress aims to contribute to the expansion and deepening of the historiographical debate surrounding the transnational movement of people and the surveillance of international crime in the Atlantic axis.

Cowper's lines have echoed through centuries of literature and criticism, embodying themes of imperial control, sight, and isolation, while remaining notably ambiguous. How has this ambivalence been reinterpreted across different cultural contexts and literary genres, from British Romanticism to contemporary postcolonial discourse? This conference seeks to engage with the far-reaching impact of Cowper's words across a wide array of literary and theoretical frameworks.

Ce colloque propose d’examiner les gestes de l’enquête dans l’art, avec le caractère interdisciplinaire que cela revêt, pour en définir les spécificités et ses modalités dans la création. Nous l’envisageons comme un laboratoire de formes et un espace d’échanges mouvants et plastiques s’appuyant sur deux axes : revenir à l’enquête, et revenir de l’enquête. À partir d’un état des lieux des gestes d’enquêtes dans le champ de l’art actuel, nous interrogerons donc ses méthodes et ses outils, en les confrontant en particulier à ceux du journalisme, de l’anthropologie, de la sociologie, de la littérature, du cinéma…

In this issue, we wish to focus on historical approaches - in the broadest sense of the term - which aim to understand economic mechanisms in relation to political, cultural and social phenomena within African societies and in the context of their times, without necessarily addressing their potential links with the present. We wish authors to focus on economic processes that were internal to societies, including interactions with external institutions (and especially imperial institutions), provided that these interactions shed light on the workings of African societies. Our goal is also to consider the documentary challenges facing historians.
