Cultivating one’s own garden, expanding horizons
Mapping the personal and the collective through history of art and the humanities, from Impressionism to the present day
The Seine has shaped the history of the Impressionist movement, which, in turn, left a lasting mark on the land. The research framework of this programme places the focus on this influential geographical backdrop, as part of a broader reflection on our regions. Housing traditions, ways of life, social structures, land uses, and the impact of agricultural and industrial development on the landscape are just some of the lines of research that require further study about Impressionism. This summer school aims to open up new perspectives through cross-disciplinary collaboration while experimenting with scales of analysis, to reflect on the experience of land from the most personal to the most universal.

CURE Summer School 2026 at Villa Vigoni
The second CURE Summer School will take place from 21 to 25 September 2026. We want to think “beyond division” and interested in examining cultural practices that aim to work through and dissolve existing divisions, and in those that seek – preventively – to stop division from arising in the first place. The keynote will be delivered by the writer Véronique Tadjo. Applications can be submitted until 25 February 2026. All participants will receive full funding for travel and accommodation.

« Docere, delectare, movere » : recherches sur l’art du dix-septième siècle
Seconde édition de l’université d’été « Recherches sur l’art du dix-septième siècle », l’événement offrira un lieu et un temps privilégiés de rencontres entre professionnels et jeunes chercheurs travaillant sur l’image en histoire de l’art, histoire, littérature, philosophie, arts du spectacle et musicologie. Il accueillera les recherches interdisciplinaires les plus stimulantes consacrées à l’art européen et extra-européen du XVIIe siècle (entendu largement, des années 1580 à 1720). Le thème retenu pour l’édition 2026 est « Docere, delectare, movere » (instruire, plaire, émouvoir).

Rereading, (re)emergence, appropriation: What is to be done with the art of the past?
The writings of art historians, like the works of art themselves, are a place of emergence, return, and incessant reinterpretation. This dialogue between periods at the heart of both artistic creation and the narrative of our discipline will be the subject of the 2026 edition of the Ecole de Printemps. Proposals for papers could present case studies, where a work or body of work quotes, repeats, adopts, or readapts earlier images, objects, or monuments. They might analyse historiographical reinterpretations by considering them as transhistorical interventions and reappropriations – whether textual, visual or museum-based.

Comme chaque année depuis 1954, le Centre d’études supérieures de civilisation médiévale (CESCM) organise dans la deuxième quinzaine de juin une école d’été internationale destinée aux étudiants avancés à partir du master et aux jeunes chercheurs en études médiévales, toutes disciplines confondues, disposant d’un niveau de maîtrise de la langue française suffisant pour suivre conférences et visites, et participer pleinement aux échanges.

Politiques des archives visuelles
Intermédialité, décolonialité et création
Nous interpréterons différents types d’archives visuelles dans une perspective intermédiale et décoloniale, c’est-à-dire en interrogeant les liens entre les différentes formes et utilisations des images d’archives, le rôle des technologies mobilisées pour leur conception et celui des institutions au sein desquelles ils s’inscrivent (archives, musée, salle de cinéma, tribunal, université, etc.). En plus de l’intermédialité qui demeure l’axe principal de l’école d’été, plusieurs autres approches seront mobilisées allant des études autochtones à l’anthropologie, les études cinématographiques et photographiques, mais aussi les humanités numériques et la préservation audiovisuelle.

Sources ouvertes, conflits d'intérêts et littérature scientifique médicale
Cet atelier a pour but de développer des méthodes d’identification de l’influence de l’industrie pharmaceutique à travers la littérature scientifique sur la science et les politiques de santé. Cet atelier propose une approche collaborative, à travers l’utilisation de méthodes computationnelles, comme par exemple l’analyse de réseaux. Ces méthodes permettent d’explorer les métadonnées d’articles scientifiques et ont pour ambition de les croiser avec celles provenant d’autres bases de données telles qu’Overton ou Transparence Santé.

Le Centre d’études francoprovençales propose une approche printanière au patrimoine immatériel, en conjuguant la découverte des sports traditionnels de la Vallée d’Aoste avec une expérience d’immersion linguistique en francoprovençal, du niveau initiation au niveau expérimenté. Des cours d’anthropologie et de langue vivante alterneront avec des séances de sport en plein air et des ateliers pratiques, dans une ambiance internationale propice aux échanges. Des moments de rencontres avec la population locale permettront d’approfondir certains aspects de la vie alpine contemporaine.

Depuis les travaux consacrés à la première mondialisation du XVIe siècle, l’espace transocéanique s’est affirmé comme un laboratoire privilégié pour étudier la circulation de l’information. Entendue dans une acception large, l’information peut être comprise comme un ensemble de nouvelles, de savoirs ou de messages collectés puis portés à la connaissance d’un public. Pour traverser les océans, l’information circule par l’intermédiaire de réseaux divers et variés, via des passeurs et passeuses qui peuvent la transmettre fidèlement, l’altérer ou la falsifier.

The Winter School “Being Citizen. Exploring the Concepts of Patria, Nation and Europe in the Italian Traditions” (9th-13th February 2026) is a project promoted by the University of Trento in partnership with ENS Lyon and KU Leuven. The school aims to offer a one-week advanced training school focused on the Italian philosophical traditions in the Novacella-Abbey, and is open to thirty master’s or PhD students and early-career researchers in philosophy, history, and literature.

European Summer Academy for Young Professionals
The German Federal Agency for Civic Education and the Genshagen Foundation are jointly organising the Summer Academy “Memories of Landscape. On Traces of Violence in Nature” for young professionals aged 25 to 35 from Croatia, France, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and the Western Balkan countries, which will take place from 2-5 September 2025 at Genshagen Castle (near Berlin). The Summer Academy addresses the question of how landscapes become memory spaces of human violence – and how we deal today with these silent, often overlooked archives.
