Crossed perspectives on the new wave of coups d’état in French-speaking black Africa
Since 2012, putsch in French-speaking black Africa have reasserted themselves as an essential paradigm for the analysis of political life where almost all states have at least twenty years of multi-party electoral experience. Field data reveals at least six successful military coups between August 2020 and January 2022; proven risks in at least six other countries where new coup mechanisms are emerging, like what some call “constitutional coups”. How can we describe what is happening in French-speaking black Africa? This call for contributions for a collective work aims to provide information on the taxonomy and technologies of this new wave of putsch thanks to cross-sectional comparison between French-speaking black Africa and elsewhere; diachronic comparison (yesterday and today) and normative comparison (what is done and what should be done).

Nous attendons des communications portant sur la définition et la mise en œuvre des politiques sociales en Afrique. Que visent-elles ? Pourquoi et comment ? Qui sont les décideurs ? Qui sont les gestionnaires ? Qui sont les bénéficiaires ? Quelles en sont les retombées concrètes ?

La catégorisation en Afrique coloniale et postcoloniale
« Revue Africaine des Dynamiques Contemporaines »
Le premier numéro de la Revue Africaine des Dynamiques Contemporaines éditée par le Centre de recherche sur les dynamiques des mondes contemporains se propose de réfléchir sur la rémanence des catégorisations coloniales en Afrique postcoloniale, particulièrement celles qui touchent à l’organisation administrative, aux toponymes, aux ethnonymes, aux représentations sociales et sociolinguistiques, stéréotypées ou non, et aux constructions mémorielles. L’idée de départ est celle de la nécessité de permettre aux chercheurs de différentes disciplines d’ausculter les ressorts des revendications qui, ces dernières années sur le continent africain, dénoncent la colonialité et appellent à la décolonialité, des concepts au cœur des travaux de Quijano & Ennis (2000), Mathias (2018), Le Petitcorps & Desille (2020), Mendoza (2020) ou encore Mignolo (2021).

This workshop aims to offer a space for meeting and exchange for linguists working on sport, understood in the broadest sense as any form of physical and sports activity, individual or not, aimed at improving or expressing physical condition, in a competitive framework or not. For an international transdisciplinary chair
This Symposium aims at discussing transdisciplinarity (TD) as an international university chair : 1) TD is beyond and through disciplines, i.e., more than mutltidisciplinarity (many disciplines not interacting) and interdisciplinarity (disciplines in interaction); 2) TD is the dialogue between technoscience (the feedback process between technology and science) and culture (philosophy, tradition, and art); 3) So, TD is the dialectical process between opposites, namely the complementarity principle, which includes disciplinarity vs. TD; 4) This TD approach can be used for concrete problem solving, in public and private organizations, including civil society.

This conference aims to deepen our knowledge of the norms governing emotional expression in Rome and their evolution, from Republican times to Imperial era. It is part of a wider research project looking at the role of collective emotions in Roman civic life. This conference will focus more specifically on episodes of emotional transgression which are described as such in our sources, when an individual or a specific group expressed unexpected or inappropriate emotions depending on the circumstances.

The focus stream aims to highlight trends in historical metaphor research and invites submissions across a broad spectrum of topics, encompassing various methodologies. We encourage both in-depth case studies and comprehensive investigations using linguisticcorpora, electronic dictionaries, and lexical/conceptual databases (WordNet, FrameNet etc.)to analyze evolution of patterns in conceptual mapping.

The Child Stage Performer (18th-beginning 19th century)
Journal “European Drama and Performance Studies”
This issue of European Drama and Performance Studies will look at the conditions under which child stage performers operate, in the light of recent research on “working childhood”, on the social history of performers, and on stages and performances that have long been in the shadows (curiosity shows, fairground shows, cultural activities outside European capitals). The aim will be to bring together case studies and also to offer summaries on this theme, with an emphasis on analyses of the 18th century and the early 19th century.

La Revue d’histoire méditerranéenne est une revue semestrielle de la faculté des sciences humaines et sociales de l’université de Bejaia. Elle est indexée dans la base de données européenne ERIH Plus et la base de données arabe ARCIF. Elle est une revue quadrilingue, donc ouverte aux contributions en anglais, français, arabe et en langue amazigh. Elle a pour objectifs de diffuser des connaissances historiques auprès des enseignants, les chercheurs, les étudiants et auprès d’un large public, ainsi que la recherche historique en offrant aux chercheurs une opportunité de partager leurs découvertes et à faciliter le dialogue entre les historiens et chercheurs, favorisant ainsi le partage d’idées, de débats et d’approches méthodologiques. La revue constitue une plateforme pour la documentation d’événements historiques, de biographies, et d’autres sujets pertinents.

Contemporary Societies Facing Risks
Contexts, actors, experiences, and response stakes
By the midst of the the twentieth century, the world had become the scene of profound social and historical transformations sustained technological and ecological developments. Such transformations often testify to the transition from the first modernity of an industrial aspect to the second modernity, usually characterized by “cosmic risks”. Consistent with these transitions, the concept of risk has witnessed remarkable developments, evolving into an integrated approach adopted in the analysis of the profound changes in industrial society whereby the unforeseen consequences of human actions have become more frequent, intense, and influential, posing a threat to human existence altogether. Diverse scientific studies addressing the issue of risk(s) across different fields point to the structural and complex crisis accompanying the “second modernity”.

Reflections on 25 years of Devolution: Comparisons, Interactions and Cross-Influences
As part of the research programme of the “WISE Connections (Wales-Ireland-Scotland-England)” network which brings together researchers concerned with the study of the relationship between the British and Irish Isles in a horizontal manner rather than through a centre-periphery perspective, a study day entitled “Reflections on 25 years of Devolution: Comparisons, Interactions and Cross-Influences” will take place at Toulouse-Jean Jaurès University on 4 October 2024. This study day will initiate a process of reflection that will culminate in the publication of a book. It will aim at taking stock of a quarter of a century of existence of devolution: not only of the way in which devolution has evolved by territory, but also and above all of the cooperation and mutual influences between Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish institutions, as well as of the relations between these institutions and the central institutions in London.

What future for African integration?
Since the creation in 1963 of the Organization of African Unity (forerunner of today's African Union), bilateral and multilateral intergovernmental cooperation initiatives have continued to multiply across the African continent, to the point where there are now over a hundred initiatives and institutions covering a wide range of fields: political, economic, commercial, customs, educational, cultural. This call for papers invites professors, doctors, PhD students and researchers in various fields (law, political science, international relations, international law, economics, international trade, etc.) to propose book chapters that can take stock of the situation, shed light on the challenges facing African integration, and reflect on the future prospects of such an integration dynamic.
