  Lived religion and everyday life through early modern catholic hagiographic material

  We invite abstracts for contributions on the subject from scholars working with early modern (ca. 15th–18th centuries) hagiographic material, such as beatification and canonisation processes, other miracle accounts, art, vitae, and other spiritual (auto)biographies. The aim is to produce a high-quality collection of articles, which offers cutting-edge and fruitful insights into early modern social and cultural history, using hagiographic texts and art as sources. We especially welcome contributions, which have a sensitive approach to gender, age, health and social status.

  The mediation of technologies for a new communication and representation of territory

  Session S25 of the 32nd Italian Geographers Congress

  The session, which is part of the 32^nd Congress of Italian Geographers, will accept both theoretical and methodological proposals exploring the forms through wich ICTs, particularly the Web, have been changing the dynamics of territory representation in the last decades. Among other things, the proposal shoud focus on territorial communication forms for both political and administrative aims (the communication by and for citizens/investors) and tourist and cultural purposes (the communication by and for tourists/visitors).

  The past of the present

  The use and abuse of history in collective identities formation

  "Persistenze o Rimozioni" launches a call for papers for its VII annual conference: “The past of the present. The use and abuse of history in collective identities formation”. As part of a long-term research project on the contemporary age, the conference wants to analyse the use of the past in building collective identities, with an interdisciplinary approach. The call for papers focuses particularly on the dynamic character of collective identity formation, referring both to the past and the present and favoring those papers in which the present is used as a key to interpret the past.

  Redistribution and Recognition: Calling Paradigms of Justice into Question

  Since 2009 the Department has been hosting scholars from all over the world within the Colloquium of Philosophy and Global Affairs of which the journée is part. The journée d'étude aims at encouraging reflections about social justice by questioning the competing and yet perhaps complementary paradigms centered on redistribution and recognition. The philosophical reflection on these paradigms will be enriched by contributions from neighboring disciplines.

  The author – Wanted, dead or alive

  New perspectives on the concept of authorship, 1700-1900

  The goal of this conference is to reassess, challenge, and enlarge the concept of authorship, by giving the author a post-mortem of sorts. To do this, we want to bring together fresh and critical historiographical perspectives on the concept of authorship, and challenge participants to think in comparative and transnational frameworks. Ideally, we seek to draw together work from a wide variety of sub-disciplines, creating a dialogue which connects often-separated fields such as book history and literary history.

  Curating History Workshop

  What happens when curators and scholars are brought together in museums

  Are there new and old ways of curating history in permanent exhibitions? How is it possible to bring together museums, academia, and the public? In organising this workshop, we would like to offer a place for discussion where curators and scholars from a broad variety of institutions (museums, universities, research institutes etc.) elaborate a joint reflection in both theoretical and practical terms, structured around four sessions: History, Responsibility, Mediation and Communication (between Curators & Scholars).

  Ethnomusicologie et patrimonialisation

  SEMEP 2016/2017

  Le Séminaire en ethnomusicologie et patrimonialisation (SEMEP) souhaite renforcer les relations en ethnomusicologie et en anthropologie musicale entre la France et l’Italie, à travers des activités spécialement destinées aux étudiants du deuxième et troisième cycles. Ce « multi-séminaire » possède une vocation transfrontalière, interdisciplinaire et transculturelle. Il se veut un moment d’échanges entre experts de deux pays et d’approfondissement de thèmes au cœur du débat scientifique international contemporain. Après avoir examiné, l’année dernière, l’histoire et l’ethnomusicologie de la patrimonialisation musicale en Italie et en France, le sujet de cette seconde édition 2016-2017 du SEMEP est dédié à la patrimonialisation des objets sonores et des instruments de musique.

  Les lieux du rêve

  Architectures fantastiques dans la littérature : textes et images

  Ce colloque propose de mettre en perspective commune le rêve et l’architecture. Unis, opposés, croisés, ces deux thèmes peuvent se décliner sous plusieurs aspects : l’architecture du rêve, les rêves d’architectures, la ville rêvée, les constructions projetées, l’imaginaire de l’architecture dans les rêves, les constructions oniriques des romans médiévaux, les visions fantastiques de la Jérusalem céleste… Les travaux devront porter sur des éclairages novateurs de cette thématique double et sur des cas d’études originaux, avec une approche spécifique croisant architecture et imaginaire. La thématique inclut le sacré et le profane.Les périodes ciblées s’échelonnent de l’Antiquité au Baroque.

  Les mariages mixtes dans les sociétés européennes, XVIIIe-XXIe siècle

  Pour une histoire sociale de la mixité matrimoniale

  Les migrations contemporaines et les interrogations croissantes sur les juxtapositions de groupes religieux ou ethniques différents ont stimulé ces dernières décennies un intérêt évident pour la question de la mixité matrimoniale dans le monde d’aujourd’hui, mais aussi dans les sociétés anciennes. Dans le champ historique, cet intérêt a été en outre renforcé par le développement spécifique de plusieurs axes de recherches : l’histoire des migrations, des réseaux marchands, des diasporas, des sociétés urbaines, ou encore des sociétés coloniales.
