Conserving and transmitting artistic performance - "Culture and musées" journal
Revue « Culture et musées »
L’objectif du numéro est d’explorer la question de la performance artistique du point de vue de sa conservation et de sa transmission aux futures générations.L'appel à proposition d’articles comporte donc deux entrées. La première porte sur l’activité de patrimonialisation de la performance considérée sous l’angle des pratiques professionnelles de la conservation et de la transmission. La deuxième porte sur les effets de l’innovation technologique sur l’expérience de la consommation culturelle, les pratiques d’appropriation et de transmission de la performance artistique qu’autorise la numérisation et les formes d’innovation culturelle et artistique qu’elle fait naître en continuité ou en contraste avec Internet.

Funzione ed evoluzione di uno strumento di concezione e di realizzazione
Nonostante le mostre dei più rappresentativi modelli architettonici svolte nell’ultimo decennio del Novecento a Palazzo Grassi (1994) e nella Palazzina di Stupinigi (1999) ancora oggi questo soggetto non è pienamente esplorato dalla storia dell’arte. Le loro funzioni vanno dallo strumento durante la progettazione, alla simulazione tridimensionale destinata a convincere un committente fino a riferimenti normativi per le maestranze impiegate nel cantiere. Il seminario si propone di confrontare l’impiego di modelli durante diversi periodi, in diversi paesi europei e di aprire un dibattito su future ricerche che riguardano un censimento delle testimonianze disperse, delle norme per il loro restauro e la creazione di un museo virtuale.

Protest is an intrinsic part of human culture, which enables subjects to express their dissatisfaction with existing social structures and hegemonic hierarchies of power. Protests have occurred across time periods and contexts, and have taken numerous different forms, ranging from personal expressions of discontent to united movements for revolutionary change. Protests can be individual or collective, personal or political, spontaneous or carefully planned, but they are generally orientated towards destabilising the status quo and establishing new modes of existence. Over the ages, political, social and cultural protests have successfully toppled authoritarian regimes, exposed and confronted dominant imbalances of power, and ameliorated conditions for disenfranchised members of society.

Visual creation and scientific research - comparative approaches from the south west Indian Ocean
En s’associant autour de ce colloque, l’université et l’École supérieure d’art de La Réunion entendent dialoguer sur ce terrain et interroger par regards croisés le destin des flux d’images qui irriguent la planète à l’ère du « village global » (Marshall McLuhan), du « Tout-Monde » (Edouard Glissant) et des rhizomes communicationnels. Au sein des réseaux nouveaux qui éclatent les notions classiques de centre et de périphérie, l’espace indianocéanique sera au cœur de notre réflexion et nous permettra de (re)penser une histoire de la distribution des images et – partant de là – des savoirs. On envisagera tout à la fois les patrimoines historiques, anthropologiques, sociaux, scientifiques, technologiques, linguistiques, littéraires, artistiques, cinématographiques et religieux, de l’espace de la totalité de l’océan Indien, qu’il soit imaginé, réel ou symbolique.

Le colloque des journées de musiques anciennes de Vanves propose un cadre général réunissant musicologues, luthiers, acousticiens, musiciens, historiens de l'art, historiens... afin de discuter les multiples enjeux rassemblant ces différents angles de vue en relation avec les répertoires musicaux anciens en Occident (ca. 800 – 1750). Il s'agit plus d'une définition d'approche que d'une limite géographique ou historique. L'année 2016 a pour thème « Geste, acoustique, musique ».

The Biocultural Dimensions of the Everyday life that was held within the framework of the 4th Congress on Latin American Anthropology (Mexico, 2015). We invite to this seminar Biocultural Dimensions of the Everyday life researchers interested in the study of the body, of the human embodiment, of the techniques of the body, of the linkages between bodily action and material culture, of the human/animal co-actions, of the nutrition, of the health, of the bodily education, of the dance, of the sexuality and of other fragments of everyday life that invite to think about the complexity of the human being-in-the-world.

Myth and Emotions
Along with rational logic there is an emotional logic, responsible for many actions that we carry out. Myth Criticism tends to tackle mythical stories from a structural, social and historical perspective. However, it often ignores the emotional component. It seems as if the affective dimension, particularly active in our contemporary society, is not considered relevant in the studies of mythology. The Conference will examine the function undertaken by emotions in the structure of mythical stories and in the processes of mythification of characters and historical events. The object of the study will focus on ancient, medieval and modern myths in contemporary literature and art (since 1900).

This conference aims to form a transdisciplinary discussion about the political and critical uses of film archive images, by approaching the subject via Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucci’s films and other artistic productions. The call for papers is addressed to researchers and students, from disciplines such as film history and theory, art history, history, anthropology, visual anthropology, as well as participants in these fields (film critics, artists and curators) who have encountered the filmmakers’ work at different moments in their artistic career.

In conjunction with the exhibitions Easy Virtue: Prostitution in French Art, 1850-1910 (Van Gogh Museum) and Breitner: Girl in Kimono (Rijksmuseum), ESNA (European Society for Nineteenth-Century Art) organizes its annual two-day international conference around the topic of the “urban underbelly” and its depiction in nineteenth-century art. Both exhibitions explore the depiction of women in the margins of urban life – the prostitute, the model, working (class) women, and the women of the entertainment industry.

The play of archives, works that have disappeared and contemporary creation
Le programme « Replay, restitution, recréation… Pour une typologie de la reprise des archives » se propose de mettre en regard les archives des œuvres disparues et celles qui animent ou justifient une part de la création contemporaine. En s'attachant à la place du corps dans l’œuvre, de la statuaire à la chorégraphie, il s'agit d'interroger en premier lieu la manière dont les supports documentaires, destiné à faire « archives », interviennent ou non dans le processus de fabrication, de commande et de réception des œuvres. Les intervenants, universitaires, artistes, critiques ou conservateurs, seront invités à réfléchir à ces problématiques en mettant en regard leurs propres travaux avec le corpus d'archives établi à l'occasion de ce programme de recherche, qui rassemble des descriptions de documents provenant des Archives nationales, du CNAP, du CNDC et de l'ENSAPC, portant la trace d’œuvres disparues de différentes façons (destruction physique, œuvre performée...).

Dans ce colloque organisé par le Réseau thématique 14 (sociologie des arts et de la culture) et le Réseau thématique 37 (sociologie des médias) de l’Association française de sociologie (AFS), nous proposons de revenir sur une question classique en sociologie des médias et de la culture, celle des publics et de la réception des biens symboliques. Le terme de public s’inscrit au carrefour de la sociologie de la culture et des médias. Face aux discours concevant les publics des médias comme une masse indifférenciée soumise à leurs effets, des sociologues ont mis en avant la diversité des publics des institutions et des industries culturelles, ouvrant un champ d’enquêtes sur la composition et la morphologie de ces publics.

L’engagement des photographes dans les structures de la gauche révolutionnaire des années 1930 est aujourd’hui encore une zone d’ombre de l’histoire de la photographie et de la presse illustrée. Pour de nombreux photographes, la photographie représentait pourtant le médium révolutionnaire par excellence. En travaillant pour la presse illustrée communiste (Regards, L’Humanité, Ce Soir) et en s’engageant dans l’Association des écrivains et artistes révolutionnaires (AEAR), ils défendaient une vision politique de leur activité, considérant la photographie comme une « arme de classe ».

The manuscript cultures of Ethiopia
The encounter between the Islamic and Christian worlds
Since the middle of the first millennium of our era, Ethiopia has seen the development of two manuscript book cultures which seem to have evolved separately, on geopolitical territories for a long time distinct, in the service of different religions and administrations. These Christian and Islamic manuscript cultures also developed in various languages and scripts which have compartmentalised research on the subject. If the historiography of Christian manuscripts is already well rooted, Islamic manuscripts whether in Arabic languages and script or local languages and Arabic script (‘ağamī) up till now have been little studied.
