  Critique of the dominant discourse as a problem of emancipation

  Ah bé tè! Third Anthro-Pau-logic conference

  Pour ces troisièmes rencontres « anthro-Pau-logiques », les doctorants en anthropologie et sociologie de l’UPPA souhaitent aborder l’émancipation, celle qui libère, qui permet de créer et de penser l’utopie. Dans ce cadre, le rôle des média est indéniable : la presse actuelle aliène-t-elle plus qu’elle n’émancipe ? La question centrale est celle de la transition qui s’opère entre la presse communautaire d’hier et d’aujourd’hui, et la presse propagandiste médiatrice du discours dominant. Au travers de ces journées, nous voulons comprendre l’incidence de ce décollement sur les trajectoires individuelles et le développement d’une pensée collective portée par la critique et l’émancipation. Dans ce séminaire pluridisciplinaire, nous invitons à réfléchir sur les notions de critique  et d’émancipation en partant d’exemples-types de médias et acteurs de presse communautaire, mais aussi de sujets sociétaux en rapport, ou non, avec cette presse.

  The Renaissance of Origins

  Beginnings, Genesis and Creation in the Art of the VXth and XVIth Centuries

  This conference seeks to introduce a variety of different approaches and interpretations of the concept of “origins” within the visual arts during the Renaissance. However, to consider the question of origins necessitates establishing a distinction between an original beginning such as the creation of the world, an event which initiated historical time, and the symbolic exercises of re-creation that follow it. These phenomena of echo or aemulatio are defined by their manifest desire to capture the primal energy of the original beginning. Such re-creations attempt to reproduce the vitality inherent in the original beginning, and are characterized, above all, by a fundamental desire to reestablish a link to an ideal and initial origin.

  Agencies and labour regulation in building sites

  13th - 19th centuries

  Through the historical process that western European societies have known since Middle age to the dawn of contemporary age, it has never been supposed that labour in the construction sector - although it is often acknowledged to have played a decisive role in economic - may have been decided, controlled and managed by several institutions that overlapped their influence. Public entities, intermediate organizations and private actors performed in different ways in the labour market, for instance by cooperating, competing, or even conflicting. Nonetheless, they all were involved in labour regulation and workforce organization. An interesting question relates to the nature of regulating authorities, of the overlapping of their competences and their strength, considering the different nature of labour in building sites (free, forced, organized)

  Social Sciences and Humanities Research: translating findings into medical practices

  The aim of this international conference is to initiate a multi- and interdisciplinary discussion, involving various actors, on the use and utility of social science research for and by health professionals, broadly defined. Drawing on examples from completed and ongoing research projects, we will explore the issue of “translation” and “implementation” of Social Sciences and Humanities research findings to the field of medicine and health by analyzing how and under what conditions these findings are mobilized, translated, and used by various actors. The objective is to contribute to a better understanding of the processes involved in the communication and dissemination of knowledge in the social sciences, as well as how this knowledge is actually used by healthcare practitioners.

  Si l'inflation narrative « ruine la crédibilité narrative » que reste-t-il, comme se le demandait Walter Benjamin dans « Le Narrateur », de « notre faculté à échanger nos expériences » et comment révéler « ce qu'il y a de réel dans le réel », comme le nommait Pasolini dans  Les Cendres de Gramsci ? Si les principes de la fable, comme mise en fiction et transmission du réel, sont dominants dans les usages médiatiques, publicitaires et politiques, comme « communication narrative » et puissance de persuasion, de quelle marge dispose le théâtre pour faire advenir, mettre en jeu ou à distance un « fond commun » en apparence épuisé?...Face à cette confusion entre réel « virtualisé » et fabulation poétique, il semble fécond d'interroger dans un premier temps l'état de la fable contemporaine au regard de la relation qu'elle entretient avec l'Histoire... Comment s'écrit l'Histoire ? Y a-t-il nécessité de fiction ? Dans quel temps historique sommes-nous ?

  The Max Weber Foundation, the German Historical Institute (GHI) in Washington DC, the American Historical Association (AHA) with the National History Center (NHC), and the German Historical Association propose to convene a conference that takes a fresh look at the end of World War I, the events of 1917–1923, at the immediate post-Versailles period and at the cultural, social, and political ripples that the postwar settlements sent across the globe in subsequent decades.
