  State-Rooms of Royal and Princely Palaces in Europe (14th-16th c.)

  Spaces, images, rituals

  From the fourteenth to the sixteenth century, European monarchies saw a gradual centralisation of power. This was accompanied by the dissemination of political ideas that contributed to the making of a new image of the prince, which relied on visual instruments to assert and construct the prince’s sovereign power. Royal and princely residences with their designated state-rooms were at the centre of this phenomenon. Their decors, particularly during ceremonies, reflected political interests and ambitions that were essential to the image of the prince. By placing a particular emphasis on the decor of those state-rooms, this workshop aims to increase our insights into the relations between the architecture, decoration, and rituals of monarchical power in state-rooms from the late middle ages to the beginning of the early modern period.

  Progressive Catholicism in Latin America and Europe 1950s–1980s

  Social Movements and Transnational Encounters

  This conference, organized on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of 1968, intends to investigate and cast new light on the transnational transfer of ideas and encounters between religious and secular progressive movements on both sides of the Atlantic during the period ranging from the 1950s to the 1980s. Critically, it wants to assess the role of progressive Catholicism in the broader context of expanding social and cultural relations between Latin America and Europe, and to stress its relevance to other burgeoning research fields, such as the history of “1968”, human rights, transnational activism, and the Cold War. We are seeking to assemble a critical mass of researchers actively engaged with such questions and focusing on networks and encounters to elaborate new answers to the questions associated with these themes.

  Ce colloque se propose d’examiner tout d’abord l’archipel des musiques électriques, depuis le projet de « clavessin électrique » du prêtre jésuite Delaborde (1759), dès les débuts de la science électrique, donc, jusqu’au développement des pratiques électroniques, puis numériques (de Schaeffer au dub, puis au sampling, jusqu’aux applications informatiques les plus récentes). Il s’agira également de mesurer l’incidence de l’électricité sur les musiques du XX^e et du XXI^e siècles, ainsi que sur les sujets connexes comme par exemple la pédagogie musicale, sur la lutherie (au sens large) et son emploi, sur l’enregistrement de la musique.

  Durkheim and socialisation

  Le terme de « socialisation » était peu répandu chez Durkheim et les sociologues contemporains. On n’en compte qu’une seule occurrence dans les ouvrages et mémoires de l’auteur parus de son vivant, à la fin de son mémoire de 1898 sur la définition du phénomène religieux. Quant à sa définition de l’éducation comme « socialisation méthodique de la jeune génération », souvent reprise, elle n’apparaît que dans la leçon d’ouverture de sa chaire de la Sorbonne (1902), ainsi qu’en 1911 dans un article de dictionnaire. Cela ne veut pas dire qu’il n’a pas traité de la notion de socialisation. Toute communication résonnant clairement avec les deux termes de son titre est susceptible d’être retenue. Les communications s’inscrivant dans un ou plusieurs des trois axes suivants retiendront cependant plus particulièrement l’intérêt du comité scientifique.

  L'étymologie du mot chantier renvoie au latin « canterius » qui désigne un support servant au maintien d’un objet, en vue de son stockage ou de son travail par un ouvrier. Depuis, ce mot fait également écho aux matières premières, bois, roche et minerai ; il désigne les lieux où elles sont entreposées, à partir desquels leur extraction est réalisée. Son acception contemporaine la plus fréquente permet de dénommer le terrain à l’intérieur duquel démolitions, réparations et constructions sont en cours de réalisation, mais aussi la séquence, d’ordinaire transitoire, durant laquelle une configuration matérielle succède à une autre.

  Political Shiisms

  The shift from the Lebanese Hezbollah’s ideology of “resistance” to Israel to a regional “existential war”; the expansion and institutionalisation of Iraqi Shia militias; the development of political solidarities between Twelver Shia and partisans of heterodox trends that were doctrinally far apart: these are a few of the ideological and praxeological reformulations that call for the construction of new analytical frameworks able to overcome the simplistic paradigm of a “Shia awakening”. This thematic issue proposes to analyse these reconfigurations in the present, and to put forward, as a hypothesis, a concept of “political Shiisms”, i.e. representations and political practices informed by reference to varieties of Shia Islam and, as such, amenable to being constructed as an object of study.

  The conference will bring together researchers who are interested in the collection, organization, processing, analysis and sharing of Computer-mediated communication data (CMC data) for research purposes. We invite submissions on corpus analysis of various types of CMC data for linguistic or applied linguistic purposes and Natural Language Processing. The focus will encompass different CMC genres. These include, but are not limited to, discussion forums, blogs, newsgroups, emails, SMS and WhatsApp, text chats, wiki discussions, social network exchanges (such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin), discussions in multimodal and/or 3D environments (virtual worlds, gaming worlds).
