  Italy’s Decade of War: 1935-1945 in International Perspective

  From the invasion of Abyssinia to the end of World War II, Italy experienced a decade of war. This conference aims to re-evaluate the history of the Italian experience during this ten-year period with a unifying perspective that places the Italian Fascist regime and its foreign and military enterprises in an entirely internationalised framework of analysis. It will bring an international focus upon the Italian role in the break-down of the international system and appeasement, and will analyse the consequences of Italian militarism on a global scale. It will explore comparative and transnational histories of the Italian occupations of France, the Balkans, Greece, and Albania, as well as the Allied occupation of Italy following the defeat.

  Le génie est considéré depuis son origine comme une arme savante. Dès l'Antiquité, les soldats de l'armée romaine étaient des bâtisseurs autant que des guerriers. En France, les savoir-faire des ingénieurs du roi acquirent une grande renommée qui rayonna au-delà des frontières du royaume. Du Maréchal de Vauban au  général Du Portail, père du corps des ingénieurs américains au XVIII^e siècle, nombreux furent les sapeurs à se distinguer et à laisser en héritage des réalisations qui allaient bien au-delà des aspects militaires.

  War and the army - manufacturing the city - Antiquity, 21st century, Lorraine and Eastern France

  Antiquité - XXIe siècle, Lorraine et Grand-Est

  Ce colloque s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un cycle consacré aux Conflits, initié en 2014, en écho aux commémorations de la Grande Guerre, par le comité d’histoire régionale, service du conseil régional de Lorraine. Il a pour ambition d’aborder ce thème dans la diachronie (de l’Antiquité à nos jours) et aborde les conflits en tant que processus long, intégrant les temps de préparation ou de conflit larvé, l’éclatement et le déroulement de la guerre, et la période suivant le retour à la paix. Après un premier opus consacré aux conflits et progrès scientifiques et techniques, ce sont les relations entre conflits, urbanismes et territoires qui sont au cœur du présent colloque. Centrées sur le fait urbain, les problématiques peuvent toutefois être étendues aux territoires connectés à la ville ou aux relations entre agglomérations rurales, même modestes, et fait militaire.

  « Former les esprits à la guerre » : le séminaire commun au CERHIO (Rennes 2), au CRHIA (Nantes) et au CREC (Écoles de Coëtquidan) poursuit son exploration des questions en rapport avec le fait guerrier. Cette séance s'intéressera plus particulièrement à la manière dont on prépare moralement, spirituellement, culturellement les soldats au combat, de l'antiquité romaine (B. Rossignol) à nos jours (C. Weber) en passant par les XVI^e-XVII^e siècles (A. Boltanski).

  L'objectif de ce colloque est d'avoir une meilleure connaissance du patrimoine issu de la Première reconstruction afin d'alimenter la réflexion sur sa conservation, sa restauration, sa mise en valeur voire sa protection au titre des monuments historiques. Le colloque est à destination du plus grand nombre car il s'agit d'un patrimoine fragile, souvent mal pris en compte dans les documents d'urbanisme. Ce colloque réunira des chercheurs débutants ou confirmés en histoire de l'art et de l'architecture, des architectes, des professionnels de la conservation, de la restauration et de la valorisation.

Ce colloque sera l'occasion pour les universitaires et professionnels intéressés par les enjeux soulevés par le Code de la sécurité intérieure, de discuter de son objet et de son contenu, mais aussi des controverses qu'il a suscitées en particulier au lendemain de la loi du 24 juillet 2015 sur le renseignement.

  Historians have been conscious of the major importance of arsenals and for some time now have been interested in these establishments, for to study the arsenal is to understand the preparation made for war, a common and transversal thread of naval historiography. This unit also lends itself to "total history", that is simultaneously economic, social, financial, technological, industrial, geographical, strategic, maritime ... Naval arsenals are therefore well known and the study of them has mostly been carried out within the framework of major theses, each institution having found "its" historian.

  The Allied Occupation of Germany Revisited

  New Research on the Western Zones of Occupation, 1945-1949

  The Allied occupation of Western Germany after the Second World War has long constituted a classic component in academic histories of post-war Germany. After having been the subject of sustained scholarly attention in the 1970s and 1980s, the subject has subsequently faced a decline in academic interest. This two-day conference is intended to showcase new research and provide a forum for the presentation of innovative approaches to the history of the three western zones of occupation. It also aims to stimulate dialogue between historians of the different zones of occupation and so bring together hitherto almost entirely segregated historiographies. We are inviting papers from both emerging scholars and established specialists.

  L'objectif de ce séminaire est de repenser les rapports entre les concepts de crise et de souveraineté. Nous interrogerons l’hypothèse selon laquelle, malgré l’apparence d’une universalité et d’une nécessité, la souveraineté cache en elle-même une faiblesse, à savoir le risque permanent de la crise. Nous étudierons à la fois les discontinuités entre les paradigmes de la philosophie politique, les oppositions entre doctrines, mais aussi l’ensemble des phénomènes qui manifestent une rupture de la légitimité du pouvoir.

  Geoeconomical and geopolitical approaches

  For several years, the world seems to have entered a period of high instability. Economically, the "subprime mortgage crisis" appeared in 2007 in the USA, then spread planet wide in all areas of activity. In 2015, economic difficulties persist (growth stagnation in developed countries and lower growth in emerging markets, explosion of unemployment, deindustrialisation and offshoring, market tensions in China, the euro zone, etc.). In geopolitical terms, tension spots have also multiplied (Saharian and Sahelian Africa, Middle East, Far East and Eastern Europe) leading to strong migratory waves while power poles seem to be redeploying between the USA, China and other regional powers.The aim of the conference "Contemporary Crisis and changes" is to question these contemporary upheavals through both a geo-economic and a geopolitical reading. The conference will provide elements of analysis and compare them especially with contemporary representations of globalisation emphasizing in particular the logic of closure that seems to characterize this phenomenon.
