Revue Portus plus
Portus plus is the new ‘online-magazine’ edited by RETE (Association for the collaboration between ports and cities) will be dedicated to developing the themes in the relationship between city and port and the regeneration of urban waterfronts. In particular, exploiting the advantages of communicating on the Internet, Portus plus will become an opportunity to present original works, theoretical studies or the results of practical experiences. Portus plus will be edited twice yearly and may be consulted on the website of Rete, www.reteonline.org, in the ‘Portus Plus’ section. Anyone can participate in the selection of articles, by responding to the ‘call for papers’ in accordance with the procedures indicated in the forms. The papers submitted will be evaluated by a “Review Committee”, composed of prestigious international experts in the field, and, if they are considered worthy, will be published in the Portus plus digital magazine. -

A West German Governance Compromise?
Stakeholder Relations from the ”Wirtschaftswunder“ to the Industrial Structural Crisis - 1950’s to the 1980’s
The current economic crisis leads one to question the main objectives companies should be striving for. The possibilities range within a field of controversy between an absolute shareholder orientation and a governance compromise with the different company’s stakeholders. This workshop aims to reassess how far stakeholder relations in different companies prove the existence of a specific West German governance compromise from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. Did companies only have the possibility to meet their stakeholders’ expectations because of their financial scope or did stakeholder orientation rather emanate from attempts to insure the company’s long-term profitability? -

L'historiographie médiévale d'Alexandre le Grand
Deuxième rencontre
Cette journée d'études, qui a été précédée par une première rencontre sur ce même thème le 22 janvier 2010, s'inscrit dans les programmes CPER et ANR « La création d'un mythe médiéval d'Alexandre dans les littératures européennes ». Dans de très nombreux récits autonomes ou intégrés à des histoires universelles naît et se renouvelle une historiographie médiévale européenne sur Alexandre le Grand, qui reste encore peu étudiée. La conciliation d’autorités diverses, la juxtaposition de plusieurs points de vue, avec une exploitation nouvelle des textes historiques de l’Antiquité tardive, avec aussi l’appropriation ou au contraire la mise à distance de données héritées du Pseudo-Callisthène, assurent de constantes modifications dans l’interprétation du personnage, de même qu’évolue l’importance accordée à son souvenir dans la mémoire collective réinventée. -

11è Conférence internationale sur l'Histoire et l'Archéologie de la Jordanie
La 11ème conférence sur l'Histoire et l'Archéologie de la Jordanie s’inscrit dans une série de rencontres scientifiques initiée par Son Altesse Royale le Prince Hassan bin Talal de Jordanie en 1980. Elle reste, depuis cette date, placée sous son patronage, en associant occasionnellement le Palais Royal – en 1989, Sa Majesté Royale la Reine Nour avait inauguré en personne la conférence qui s’était tenue à Lyon, en France. La conférence se déroule dans des lieux différents tous les trois ans (Oxford au Royaume-Uni, Amman, Irbid et Pétra en Jordanie, Tübingen en Allemagne, Lyon en France, Turin en Italie, Copenhague au Danemark, Sydney en Australie et Washington aux Etats-Unis), en partenariat avec une institution universitaire de la ville d’accueil. La Conférence n’a jamais encore été accueillie à Paris. -

Atlantic Catholicism: The French-American connection
The Catholic Church is a particularly valuable topic for pursuing an internationalized approach to the history of the United States. French Catholicism has played an important but largely neglected role in the history of the United States because so many of the sources are in French, and because of the dispersion of the archives on both sides of the Atlantic. The rich French sources on religious history found in American archives (including those at the University of Notre Dame) remain underexplored by scholars from either France or the United States. The goals of this colloquium include facilitating conversation among scholars studying the intersection of French and American Catholicism from colonial times through the twentieth century, and identifying fruitful areas for further research. -

Les moyens de mettre juridiquement en œuvre la justice intergénérationnelle
Nos démocraties sont confrontées à une nouvelle problématique: il s'agit de la nécessité de prendre en compte les intérêts des générations futures. Telles qu'elles se pensent et s'exercent à l'heure actuelle, nulle place n'est réservée à la protection des hommes de demain au niveau du processus démocratique. Dans ce contexte, les impératifs de justice intergénérationnels ne peuvent être mis en œuvre. Chaque partie politique se focalise bien souvent sur les préférences très actuelles de l'électorat. Nous souhaitons trouver des moyens pour réconcilier la démocratie avec les impératifs de justice intergénérationnels. À cette fin, il est nécessaire d'instituer les intérêts des générations futures au sein du processus démocratique. Le récent échec du Sommet de Copenhage confirme l'urgence de penser à situer les générations futures au sein de ce processus. Comment faire ? -

Gouvernance internationale d'Internet : un champ de recherche pluridisciplinaire en construction
Troisième atelier international de recherche
GigaNet (réseau académique sur la gouvernance globale de l'Internet - http://giga-net.org) organise son troisième atelier international de recherche sur le thème « Gouvernance internationale d'Internet : un champ de recherche pluridisciplinaire en construction », qui se tiendra à Montréal (Québec), Canada, les 30 et 31 mai 2010. Cet atelier est organisé en collaboration avec l'Association canadienne de communication et Media@McGill. Cet atelier représente une excellente opportunité pour la communauté scientifique internationale de se rencontrer et d'échanger régulièrement autour des travaux de recherche en cours sur ce thème. Il proposera également des tutoriaux sur la gouvernance globale d'Internet, ouvert aux chercheurs de différentes disciplines ainsi qu'à toute personne intéressée à comprendre les enjeux et développements internationaux dans ce domaine. -

La rencontre se tiendra pour honorer le prof.Yoshiki Morimoto et coïncide elle-même avec le 45e anniversaire de la présentation par Adriaan Verhulst, prof. à l’Université de Gand, d’une communication fondatrice aux Semaines de Spolète. Dans celle-ci, A. Verhulst avait formalisé le cadre conceptuel qui allait présider à l’étude du « modèle domanial classique » carolingien. La présente rencontre ne cherche pas à revoir les acquis de la recherche relative au grand domaine carolingien ; elle vise plutôt à les confronter avec d’autres formes domaniales, avec d’autres modes d’organisation du patrimoine foncier et avec d’autres modes de prélèvement. Convaincus des vertus du comparatisme, les organisateurs de cette rencontre proposent de confronter les modalités de prélèvement du travail paysan et/ou de la mise en culture de la terre dans les zones proches de l’empire carolingien, mais moins directement soumises à son influence. -

Symposium sur la TEI et l'édition scientifique
This symposium, to be held in conjunction with a meeting of the TEI Council, will explore such questions through a series of presentations outlining the current state of the art in institutional publishing operations such as those of universities in the UK, France, US, and Australia, from the point of view of private sector publishers (among which the NLM DTDs are increasingly adopted), and from international initiatives where interoperability has been identified as a major factor (e.g., PEER, which includes European research institutions, repositories, and STM publishers). The objective is to identify current difficulties in making publication systems interoperable and identify priority actions for the TEI to intervene in this arena. -

French Theory : réception dans les arts visuels aux États-Unis entre 1965 et 1995
Nombreux sont les artistes américains, actifs dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, à avoir nourri leur réflexion et leur pratique des apports de la philosophie, des études littéraires et des sciences sociales. À cet égard, un certain nombre d’auteurs français ont bénéficié très tôt d’un intérêt soutenu. Parmi ceux-ci, on retrouve des figures majeures comme Lévi-Strauss, Barthes, Bourdieu, Foucault, Lacan, Althusser, Lyotard, Baudrillard, Derrida ou Deleuze. Autant de penseurs dont les écrits en sont venus à constituer le corpus de ce que l’on désigne désormais sous l’appellation de French Theory. La perspective de ce colloque sera donc l’étude de la réception de cette « pensée française » dans le domaine des arts visuels américains à partir de 1965 et jusqu’en 1995. -

Things and spirits: new approaches to materiality and immateriality
This conference is aimed at exploring new ways of approaching the tensional and intimate connections between ‘things’ and ‘spirits’ across distinct practices and epistemologies. In recent decades, the theme of materiality has gained wider currency and centrality in social sciences and anthropological theory. A growing number of scholars in the anthropology of religion, material culture studies, and history and sociology of science and technology have been reexamining the partition between humans, material objects, and immaterial entities, along with the ideas of agency, evidence, and materiality itself. -

Making Europe will offer one of the first sustained critiques of that vision by investigating the economic, cultural, ideological, scientific, and political connections of Europe (and, especially, its regions) to the rest of the world. -
