Constraints and Sources of Innovation in Research
The visualization of archaeological results can clarify, while at the same time also obscure ; walking the line of simplification for public consumption, disagreements or misunderstandings among experts and color codes/omissions can blur the lines of where exactly uncertainty lies. Yet these constraints stimulate invention, participation, and new data. Sharing research findings with a general audience may result in oversimplification, while visualizing 3D models or other visual aids can lead to misunderstandings among experts. The limitations of visualization, such as colour coding, the omission of details, and inadequate information can lead to overanalysis, obscure uncertainty or skew tentative conclusions.

Final International Conference of the Horizon Europe Project RESPONSIVE
This international conference explores the question of how democracy can be enhanced within Europe’s social sector. It asks how citizens can shape the work of social services and what innovations can improve the responsiveness of practitioners, services, and policymakers to input from citizens using social services. In particular, the conference aims to highlight solutions that have been co-created by citizen groups and social services to promote inclusiveness, reduce inequalities in civic participation and widen the diversity of citizen voices at different stages of social service delivery or social policy-making processes.

Arts and Crafts in the Late Ottoman Empire
Rethinking Practices and Concepts of Material Culture in Syria and Beyond (18th - early 20th c.)
The conference Arts and Crafts in the Late Ottoman Empire aims to advance art historical and interdisciplinary research on practices and concepts of material culture in Ottoman lands between the 18th and the early 20th centuries. While inviting contributions on all geographies of the Empire, our call for papers foregrounds late Ottoman Syria as a case through which to expand the analytical and historical horizons of Islamic art and architecture studies and to contribute to broader debates in Ottoman and Arab historiographies of modernity. We encourage authors to consider the analytical frameworks—temporalities, epistemes, and materialities—that underpin the conference’s critical inquiry into the entangled modernities of Ottoman arts and crafts.

Ontological Pluralism in Medicine and the Humanities
This conference asks whether the biomedical humanities can intervene in the very constitution of the phenomena they study. We propose to rethink the body as a relational entity shaped by biological, social, environmental, and existential assemblages—moving beyond traditional partitions (body/mind, nature/culture, biological/social) that structure contemporary medicine. These dichotomies, by assigning allegedly separate domains to different disciplines, obscure the fundamental entanglements that characterize embodied existence.

TACT (Touch, Arts, Affects)
The nostalgia for lost touch, like the utopian hopes for assistive touch, responds to haptic scenarios of comfort and consolation. What happens, however, when touch does not just alleviate but generate trouble? Can we complicate these curative narratives of touch by engaging with the frictions, failures and disputes of tactile experience? Drawing on the polysemy of trouble in critical theory, this conference proposes to interrogate haptic trouble as a site of sensory and social subversion, urging us to acknowledge the unresolved discontents of the haptic, to embrace its critical disturbances, and to test its emancipatory potentialities.

Literature, Spiritualities and the Politics of Meaning in Liberal Italy, 1861–1915 (Romance Studies)
This special issue examines the intersections of literature, spirituality, and politics in Italian culture between 1861, the year of Italian unification, and 1915, a symbolic threshold that, for Italy, marked both the onset of the war and the collapse of its liberal order. This period witnessed a profound epistemological crisis, as traditional structures of knowledge and belief were increasingly destabilized by the pressures of modernization, secularization, and rapid ideological and social change.

Alchemy between Science and Magic
Arcana Naturae n° 7
For its seventh issue (scheduled for release in 2026), Arcana Naturae (Agorà & Co) will be looking at the “black legend” of alchemy and its intersections with the history of magic and science. Initially regarded as a “sacred art”, then for a time as a legitimate scientific pursuit, alchemy has nonetheless become synonymous with demonic practices in the collective imagination. How can such a turnaround be explained? When did it start, who were its instigators (whether voluntary or involuntary), and what were its consequences?

Historical Epistemology: Intersections of Psychological Research and Psychotherapeutic Practices
Ten years ago, the Research Network on the History and Methods of Historical Epistemology, EpistHist, began in Paris with its inaugural workshop on épistémologie historique. These workshops have turned into an annual opportunity to discuss key issues in the history and philosophy of sciences and engage in contemporary methodological debates. This anniversary workshop will focus on the topic of Intersections of Psychological Research and Psychotherapeutic Practices. Here, we aim to explore which approaches within historical epistemology are most suitable for investigating the production of knowledge and practices related to the psyche. We welcome proposals exploring the relationship between scientific inquiries producing knowledge and the technical development of psychotherapeutic practices.

For the Interdisciplinary Study of Personal Transformation
By bringing into dialogue studies of personal transformation from individual and collective/structural perspectives and from various traditions, this symposium aims to offer a more holistic and nuanced understanding of this complex phenomenon, and to encourage reflection on the epistemological issues that undergird the fundamental human question: What does it mean for a person to change?
