The DHNord colloquium brings together the digital humanities community every year at the Maison Européenne des Sciences de l'Homme et de la Société in Lille. The theme chosen for 2020 considers computational approaches to images in the history and theory of the arts. This conference will bring together for the first time in France the leading specialists in artificial intelligence applied to the arts.

Territorial fractures, ruptures, discontinuities and borders: issues for planners
The French-British Study Planning Group / Groupe franco-britannique de recherche en aménagement et urbanisme, has worked for 20 years on the building of networks and intellectual bridges between the communities of planning research and practice on both sides of the Channel. Since 2005 it has been formally constituted as a sub-group of the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP). The potential retreat of the current United Kingdom from the European Union presents a new context and it is natural that the group should turn its attention to the territorial impacts which could arise as a result. It is also an occasion to reflect more widely on all forms of territorial discontinuities, ruptures and borders, including those at the national, regional and local scales, and which are of concern to planning research and practice.

Translation and the culinary arts are universal human activities. Both have been practised since time immemorial. They are also eminently cultural. When Larbaud says “you are who you translate” (“Dis moi qui tu traduis, je te dirai qui tu es” – 1946: 95), he is obviously thinking of Brillat-Savarin’s aphorism, “you are what you eat” (“Dis moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai qui tu es” – [1825] 2017, Aphorisme IV, p. 19). Each has long been an object of investigation in the humanities and beyond, and the recent growth of research in the field of Translation Studies has been mirrored in the field of Food Studies. It seems curious that the complementary areas of investigation have not been combined more often. We have therefore decided to marry these two ingredients at an international conference to be held at the University of Lille, France, from 18 to 20 March 2020.

How long must women wait for liberty?
Woman Suffrage and Women's Citizenship In The Long History of the 19th Amendment
The aim of this conference is to rethink the history of the 19th amendment by reassessing its significance as well as its multifaceted legacy. Individual papers may address, but are not limited to, the following topics: The place of suffrage in early feminisms before and after 1920: Was woman suffrage a central demand of the women’s rights movement in the nineteenth and early twentieth century? The place of suffrage in the definitions of women’s citizenships before and after 1920; The long 19th amendment from a transnational and international perspective: To what extent was the American fight for woman suffrage specific to the United States? What were the international networks that American suffragists benefited from before 1920?

International research network in sport tourism (IRNIST) conference 2018
Sport tourism has become the fastest growing sector of the tourism industry and is still thriving. What's more, even if, mega events (Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups) or other largescale events (World Championships in some sports, major tennis tournaments, etc.) had been drawing attention for a long time, it now seems to be obvious that small-scale events carry diverse benefits for their host towns too. The cost of their organization is lower, the required facilities are less expensive to construct and also to maintain after the event, and these can then be used by the local residents.

Nodegoar est un environnement web qui permet la gestion, l'analyse et la visualisation de données, développé par Pim van Bree et Geert Kessels (LAB1100). Une base de données bien réfléchie offre aux projets d'histoire numérique la possibilité d'analyses variées, de visualisations et d'interconnexion. Toute base de données historiques nécessite une compréhension approfondie des modèles conceptuel et logique des données. De même, le développement d'une interface adaptée est aussi une question importante. L'atelier aborde trois phases distinctes dans la modélisation des données: l'élaboration du modèle conceptuel, la conception du modèle logique de données et l'utilisation d'une application de base de données.

Spaces and industrial landscapes - Zola and the social realities of his age
Le colloque sera international et interdisciplinaire. Le sujet est à interpréter de manière large, afin d’inclure des écrivains et artistes contemporains de Zola, des analyses génétiques, politico-historiques et sociologiques aussi bien que des études de l’œuvre de Zola. Les invités d’honneur seront Professeur Henri Mitterand, Madame Martine Le Blond Zola et Madame Monique Sicard. Parmi les activités proposées il y aura une exposition, une visite du Musée de la mine de Lewarde et une sortie sur les pas de Zola à Anzin.

(De)constructing Digital History
dhnord 2017
The rise of digital history is in general perceived as the phase defined by the democratization of the personal computer technology, network applications and the development of open-source software. However, specific disciplinary objects, sources and approaches continue to be present within the connected use of methods and tools that takes place under the digital humanities big tent. A typology of digital history projects identifies three main fields: academic research, public history, and pedagogy projects, of which the last two categories are considered particularly specific to historians within the digital humanities field. We therefore propose to address digital history through this triple spectrum: academic research, public history, and pedagogy, in order to trace continuities and transformations in history as a discipline; and contribute to explore the broader digital humanities field through this case study.

Workplace democracy: arguments, policies, practices
While democracy is usually taken for granted within the political sphere, it usually draws less attention in the economic realm and our societies tolerate highly undemocratic forms of economic organizations, which prompts many questions: How is it possible to question this asymmetry? Does justice require democracy in the workplace? How can we make sense of democratic ideals within economic organizations? Is it possible to draw an analogy between states and business firms? Which institutional forms can workplace democracy take? What are the best theoretical frameworks to articulate the ideals of workplace democracy? This international conference aims to bring together experts in political philosophy, business ethics, sociology, history, political science, economy and management around these issues.

Which are the existing tensions between institutionalized participatory designs, citizen mobilization and environmental questions? To what extent the debate between experts and laymen about sociotechnics controversies contributes to enlighten the decision? What is the place of public authorities in these new forms of cooperation? This Panel of Interpretive Policy Analysis conference (Lille 8-10 july 2015) is interested in the mobilization of experts as well as of concerned population and of their elected representatives in the diagnosis discussion and definition of solutions of environmental issues.

Sports, genders and sexualities
Social, Ethical and Political Challenges
As expressions of cultural embodiment, sexualities, genders and sports can be analyzed as a mirror of societies’ transformations and developments. The analysis of sports, gender and sexuality can be a key to analyze changes and persistence's in social interactions and collective representations. This workshop seeks to create a discursive space for contributors to explore the social, ethical and political criticalities arising in the interaction between sports, gender and sexualities in contemporary societies. We invite papers aimed at both understanding the relationships between sports, genders and sexualities, and using them as a tool to analyse broader social, ethical and political transformations. As such, such, we hope to provide both critical evaluation of current theories and paradigms by which sport, gender and sexuality are understood and encourage the opening of new horizons for critical investigations.

Policies and their publics: discourses, actors and power
10th International Conference in Interpretive Policy Analysis
Anti-austerity protests in Southern Europe, the Occupy Movement in North America and Europe, to say nothing about the Vinegar Movement against the costs of hosting the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, are recent examples of spectacular contestations against government programmes which are paradoxically justified as being in the public interest. In a somewhat different vein, the widespread promotion of participatory democracy, at all levels of government, has spurred heated scholarly discussions regarding the 'democracy of the publics' (Manin, 1995). As such, the tenth IPA conference is devoted to studying public policies through their publics. The latter can best be understood as beneficiaries, recipients, and targets of public policies but also as stakeholders or participants in policy-making. In other words, publics are products as well as policy actors insofar as they inform public judgment (Dewey, 1927).

The concept of object is one of the most general concepts in philosophy. On the one hand, we may be interested in the general question of what it is to be an object. On the other hand, we face the problem of delineating the criteria of objecthood in connection with specialized topics, giving rise to specific questions on what it is to be an object of a certain kind (such as concrete, abstract, indeterminate, mathematical, etc.) Accepting or refusing things of a certain kind as legitimate objects (of that particular kind) when developing a scientific theory or a philosophical position is likely to have important general repercussions. In our workshop we wish to investigate the notion of object, both generally and in relation to particular fields of research. The emphasis is on the grounds and consequences of specific views on objects.

Le premier colloque international « La morphologie et ses interfaces » se tiendra à l'université Lille 3, les 12 et 13 septembre 2013. Le symposium abordera les questions liées aux interfaces que la morphologie peut construire avec d'autres disciplines linguistiques : les interfaces internes entre morphologie flexionnelle et dérivationnelle ou interfaces externes entre la morphologie et la syntaxe, la pragmatique, la traduction, la phonologie, le lexique, la linguistique computationnelle, et ainsi de suite.

Sport Tourism and Local Sustainable Development
Prospective of the globalization effects. Actors strategy and responsibility
The knowledge about sport tourism today is at the same level as the economy of sport was at the beginning of the eighties, at least in Europe. A quick overview on what is done today concerning the investments in sports tourism shows that the same mistakes are done everywhere and the development of Sport Tourism without knowing the long term effects avoid to optimize the short term economic results and impacts the long term results. One of the purposes of the IRNIST is to propose a definition of the concept as to gather the scientific community and build the basement of a new part of the studies concerning tourism.

On the one hand, the concept of identity naturally enters the discussion concerning many types of paradox that are not, primarily, about identity itself. On the other hand, there are a number of paradoxes considered as paradoxes of identity in which identity is apparently the concept generating the paradox (e.g., the ship of Theseus paradox, Chrysippus's paradox, the paradox of change, the paradox of constitution). The goal of the workshop is to discuss philosophical, logical and linguistic aspects of paradoxes in which the notion of identity plays a role. More specifically, we wish to examine whether the so-called paradoxes of identity really are paradoxes of identity in the sense that their paradoxicality is primarily connected to the concept of identity; and we want to investigate the role of concepts of identity in connection with the formulation/solution of other types of paradoxes. -

Le rock est un phénomène socio-musical complexe, qui mérite d’être étudié non seulement pour lui-même, mais comme un révélateur de mutations sociales et culturelles essentielles à la compréhension des sociétés depuis la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. Le Ceraps (Centre d’études et de recherches administratives politiques et sociales, UMR Université Lille 2) recrute un(e) assistant(e) de recherche/ ingénieur d’étude pour contribuer à la réalisation d’un projet européen qui porte sur les modalités d’ouverture des projets de recherche à la société civile dans différents pays européens. A travers une étude de terrain sur différentes modalités d’inclusion des membres de la société civile à la recherche, il s’agira de construire des modèles de gouvernance de la recherche qui reprennent les limites et les avancées constatées. Il s’agira principalement de contribuer à la conduite de l’enquête de terrain, à l’analyse des données et à la rédaction d’articles. Le candidat sera aussi amené à assister la chercheuse coordinatrice du projet dans les aspects organisationnels et administratifs du projet.
