Borders in all shapes and forms
The eighth edition of the Young Researchers Days in Human Sciences and Arts (2L2S) will take place in Nancy on October 20th and 21st 2016. This year we launch a call on the topic of “Borders in all shapes and forms” through five thematic axes : spatial borders; culture borders; human borders; magical, religious and scientific borders; work borders. In a cross-disciplinary perspective, all disciplines are invited to participate in this scientific exchange.

Mapping Fields of Study: Renegotiations of Disciplinary Spaces in the English Speaking World
Disciplines and fields of study are far from being stable entities; tracing the history of any field of study reveals their connection to social and cultural contexts, attempts at legitimation, shifts in methodological approaches, complex relations with other fields of study, as well as the influence of institutional factors.

From « Traditional » Games to Digital Games
Since the early 2000’s, the importance of studying digital games has increased to take a significant place in the academic literature dedicated to entertaining phenomena, to such a point that many articles offering to make an inventory of current “game studies” primarily focus on work related to games on this media. In this context, we cannot ignore the fact that work aimed at conceiving and studying digital games is also regularly referred to as reflections on (non-digital) “traditional” games, whether to build their theoretical framework, or to conduct comparative and contrastive studies. According to us, this kind of mutual lighting encourages researchers to examine the peculiarities and complementarities of the two areas, as well as the theoretical interest of connecting or of confronting them. Therefore, in order to analyse the relations established between “traditional” games and digital games, this call is divided into five themes that give a broad overview of the different kinds of possible links. All types of research, fundamental or applied, as well as disciplinary approaches are welcome.

Symposium of The International Society for Cultural History — Lunéville (2012)
Le congrès annuel de l'International Society for Cultural History, organisé au château de Lunéville du 2 au 5 juillet 2012, propose d’engager une réflexion sur l’articulation entre travail et culture, en établissant un dialogue entre différents courants historiographiques, dans une optique résolument transdisciplinaire. Il privilégiera la diversité des communications sur les plans méthodologique, géographique et chronologique. À l’heure où les questions du chômage, des retraites et de la souffrance au travail constituent des enjeux majeurs des sociétés contemporaines, l’histoire culturelle peut apporter un nouveau regard sur la notion de travail. -

Colloque international, Nancy-Université, 20-21 juin 2008
Le groupe de recherche I.D.E.A. (“Interdisciplinarité dans les Études Anglophones”, E.A. 2338) de Nancy-Université lance un appel à communications en vue d’un colloque sur « Les Vies du Livre » qui se déroulera à Nancy les 20 et 21 juin 2008. Dans le cadre de la réflexion sur l’interdisciplinarité menée au sein d’IDEA, le colloque envisage d’explorer, par le biais de perspectives diverses, les questions liées à la production, à la distribution et à la réception du livre. Sont particulièrement encouragées les communications ayant trait aux domaines et champs d’étude suivants: l’évolution historique du livre, le statut du livre dans la culture contemporaine, le livre et le texte. Parmi les autres champs d’étude envisageables on peut citer: les politiques de préservation du livre dans les archives et les collections publiques et privées, l’illustration et l’ornementation du livre, les rééditions et les nouvelles éditions, les études comparatives de différents marchés du livre. -

Colloque international du CRESAB (Université de Nancy 2)Le nationalisme est un domaine particulièrement sujet à controverse. Il se peut que cette absence de consensus s'explique en partie par le fait que des théoriciens ont souvent tenté d'appliquer des modèles basés sur des contextes précis d'une manière universelle. Ce colloque vise à examiner cette hypothèse en étudiant l'application de divers modèles théoriques à divers contextes nationaux du monde anglophone. -
