Knowledge Transfer and Cultural Exchanges
Censorship in the dynamics of cultural exchanges in early modern times
This panel is about a technology in the early modern ideological and textual control. It debates upon the censorship corrective procedures. In the framework of reception studies and communication theories, censorship as a whole is both a medium and a source of noise and perturbation of the message. It is considered as an obstacle and a positive element to its development. The phenomena about negotiation between intellectual and material producers of knowledge (works of Raz-Krakotzkin, Jostock) lead to reflect on the interactions between the actors of politics of control. These often vary due to local, chronological, political and religious circumstances. But censorship studies tend to localize the fields of investigation.

Visibilities. Multiple Orders and Practices through Visual Discourse Analysis and Beyond
Special issue of the peer-reviewed multilingual online journal Forum Qualitative Research/Forum Qualitative Sozialforschung (FQS). The texts in this volume will be dedicated to understanding the practices, the types of power relations and the technological infrastructures in which practices of visualising and orders of visibilities unfold. While most discourse analyses rely on the notion that everything which is said is dependent on what is sayable, we invite contributors to imagine how we might analyze visual practices in relation to the visible.

Images environnementales globales : nouvelles perspectives

Social Networking in Cyber Spaces
European Muslim's Participation in (New) Media
The increasing growth of the Internet is reshaping Islamic communities worldwide. Non-conventional media and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter are becoming more popular among the Muslim youth as among all parts of the society. The new channels of information and news attract new Muslim publics in Europe. The profile of the people using these networks range from college students to Islamic intellectual authorities. Such an easy and speedy way of connecting to millions of people across the globe also attracts the attention of social movements, which utilize these networks to spread their message to a wider public. Many Muslim networks and social movements, political leaders, Islamic institutions and authorities use these new media spaces to address wider Muslim and also non-Muslim communities, it is not uncommon that they also address and reach certain so-called radical groups.

International workshop on computer aided processing of intertextuality in ancient languages
This workshop was initiated as the conclusive meeting of the project Biblindex, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), which aims at establishing an exhaustive statement of the biblical references found in the texts of the Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. At this meeting will be gathered computer scientists and digital humanists, specialists of corpora written in ancient languages. The planned sessions aim to present the state of art regarding concepts and technics used to process quotations in ancient languages. A lot of projects work nowadays on various corpora, asking similar questions about text-reuse. Comparing experiments, we hope to clear perspectives to mutualize developments and methodological choices, in order to build a federative project at the European scale in the coming years.
