  Grupos intermédios nos domínios portugueses, sécs. XVI-XVIII

  Revista de História (Universidade de São Paulo)

  A Revista de História da Universidade de São Paulo convida autores para apresentação de artigos destinados a um dossiê sobre grupos intermédios nos séculos XVI a XVIII. Durante esses séculos os grupos intermédios esforçaram-se por afirmar-se no universo rural e ajudaram a dar consistência aos núcleos urbanos do mundo português, correspondendo a uma acrescida demanda por serviços especializados e assegurando o alargamento das funções de representação da Coroa e das atividades da Igreja. Muito embora quase inexistentes em termos jurídicos ou normativos, esses grupos eram, de fato, reconhecidos como uma espessa e vibrante camada "mediana", assinalada em testemunhos nacionais e estrangeiros. Procura-se agora melhor distinguir as suas especificidades, seus mecanismos de constituição e o seu efetivo protagonismo na dinâmica social.

  Contradictions: Envisioning European Futures

  2015 International Conference of Europeanists in Paris

  The Council for European Studies (CES) calls for proposals for its 22nd International Conference of Europeanists is organized around the theme "Contradictions: Envisioning European Futures". The CES invites proposals for panels, roundtables, book discussions, and individual papers that consider the many potential futures emerging from the European crisis. We encourage proposals in the widest range of disciplines, and, in particular, proposals that combine disciplines, nationalities, and generations.

  Academy as Community: English and American Studies in Portugal and Europe

  34th APEAA Meeting

  The tradition of English and American studies in Portugal has long been supported by the dynamics of academic associativism, in which APEAA’s peer network stands out, involving national and international institutions, and establishing continued interactions with research centres. At a time when political and cultural paradigms are on the verge of crisis and/or change, it is of the utmost importance to revisit the theoretical and pragmatic frameworks that sustain (and constrain) our research practices.  Thus, this conference aims to provide a forum to discuss how Anglo-American scholarship, with its vocation for plurality and innovative interdisciplinary proposals, may progress. We also want to build strategies of cohesion among our peers in order to better disseminate our contribution to the interpretation and the fruition of meaning(s), valuing a plurality of cultural and aesthetic manifestations.

  Portugal in the last two centuries – I International Graduate Conference on Portuguese Modern and Contemporary History 2012, will convene between June 21st and 23rd 2012 at Lisbon University Institute. Its main purpose is to promote exchange of knowledge between young graduate researchers (MA and PhD students) and young scholars (PhD concluded in the last five years) working on Portuguese Modern and Contemporary History both in Portugal and abroad.

  Representing the people

  Les participants seront amenés à s’interroger sur la notion de peuple. Comment le peuple se définit-il ? De façon autonome et/ou dans son rapport aux autres ? Pourquoi, comment et quand la notion de peuple émerge-t-elle dans l’histoire, la langue, la littérature et les arts ? Le peuple s’écrit-il lui-même ? Sinon, qui se charge de lui donner une voix ? Cette démarche est-elle légitime ou intéressée ? A qui ces représentations sont-elles destinées ? Quelles sont enfin les modalités de ces représentations ?
