Institution, individual behavior and economic outcomes
The VIII workshop on institution, individual behavior and economic outcomes, is organized by CRENoS, Dipartimento di Scienze Economiche e Aziendali, University of Sassari and University of Cagliari, and the University of Corsica Pasquali Paoli. The scope of the event is to give participants the opportunity to present their work in progress to an audience of interested peers and get valuable feedback for improving their ongoing research. Both the format and the location of the workshop have been chosen to provide an ideal setting for promoting knowledge sharing and social interactions conducive to collaborative research networks.

A vector of sustainable development?
The objective of the conference is to analyze the effect of tourism, questioning more specifically in this second edition its potential for becoming a vector of sustainable development, understood in its more general sense. Within this framework, we will question its economic impact, as well as its social effects, on Indonesia and Southern countries. We are interested in knowing how extra income is redistributed to the local population and whether it affects, or on the contrary, strengthens the traditional organizations of the communities, bringing new actors, investors, decision-makers in the traditional social organization.

The post-tourism future and civil society
The aim of this call for papers is to elicit experiences and/or analyses of the beginning or end of tourism, as well as interpretations of the end of the differentiation between the tourist and ordinary worlds which we are currently observing. Comparisons and attempts at modelling will be welcome. The papers may be proposed by researchers, practitioners or associations and may be jointly authored. They must deal with one of the three topics described below, which are to be the subject of three successive seminars.

Social finance covers a wide range of practices aiming at providing private capital to social organizations, businesses and funds. The development of these practices is justified by promising ways to finance development and social policies in a period of austerity that sees limits to and reductions in public spending. We are especially interested in manuscripts on social rights and democracy. Our intent is to prepare a set of discussions on how democracies promote social rights today, i.e., to what extent social movements, legal institutions, parliaments and executive power are able to find solutions to the challenges of democracies today? Have, for example, affirmative action, housing and health care programs, and even direct financial assistance to the poor actually reduced inequality? In addition, what are the most effective solutions for poverty? Are courts the best way to ensure social rights today? We are also interested in papers that address the costs of social programs. These are some of the possibilities, but many other questions may be brought to the table. We encourage submissions based on historical approaches carried out by jurists, political scientists, historians, sociologists, and other professionals in fields that have particular focus on legal problems.

Open data and competitive intelligence
New resources, new uses, new challenges
The open data movement, which emerged in the USA and the UK in 2009, refers to an organization’s making some of its data (transport, weather, health, public markets, etc.) accessible for reuse by businesses or the public. Beyond the initial challenges related to the transparency of public action, open data are an important source of information. In France, for example, the state makes its data available, start-ups are building innovative services based on open data and historical actors have opened their data to their ecosystem.

Special issue of Third World Thematics, a new sister journal of Third World Quarterly
What roles do spiritual, witchcraft and magical worldviews play in 21st Century development agendas? Responding to this central query, this special issue seeks to engage interdisciplinary scholarship on the variegated means through which these practices, worldviews and/or ontologies intersect, impact and (re)shape contemporary development concerns, particularly in the co-production of knowledges and practices of development at a range of scales. In this special issue we seek to explore the rapidly changing contexts in which contemporary development knowledges evolve, and in doing so, disrupt conceptions about where valid knowledge resides and how development challenges are framed.

7th International conference on Localized Agri-food Systems
During the last decades, Localized agri-food systems (SYAL) have become increasingly important as tools for farmers, rural firms and consumers to meet market challenges and satisfy the rising demand for "food with a farmers face". The potential contribution of localized agri-food systems to rural development by promoting economic development, social cohesion and counter-acting the demographic impact of agricultural modernization has also increased their political relevance. Previous research has addressed various aspects of the relationship between SYAL and geographical indications, as well as territorial, organizational and cultural issues, but there are still many unanswered questions and theoretical gaps to fill.

The economic crisis has led to high unemployment in Greece and in the European South in general and therefore many young people leave their country in order to work in businesses either in Europe or on other continents. This mobility however, if regarded as a factor that promotes the professional competitiveness of young people, enriching their knowledge and skills abroad and allowing them to transfer their interlingual and intercultural experience to other businesses or back to their country, leads us to the conclusion that the knowledge of one or more foreign languages is one of the pillars of young people’s creativity and adaptation in the workplace.

This book will aim to provide identified and relevant proposals of good practices to promote the outcomes and favor the issues of Higher Education providers; proposals that integrate all stakeholders dialogic expectations (the clients: trainers, trainees, companies and society) in a resolutely innovative optical within the sense of sustainability and the EFQM Excellence model. Within theoretical results into perspective by the concrete practice work, clues will be presented to help quality through design process, pedagogy, organization and management for WIL in Higher Education. Value management principles and standards are considered as a global framework to develop such trainings to achieve success in a European Environment (European Standards and Guidelines) but not only: facing uncertainties and constraints. Obviously strategy, policy and leadership have to be considered.

Global diplomacy and natural resources
Stakes, practices and influences of non-state actors (18th-21st centuries)
Since the end of the Cold war, the activity of non-State actors has attracted considerable attention as part of an increasingly globalised governance and diplomacy. As Richard Langhorne has remarked, the 1961 Congress of Vienna ‘marked both the culmination and the beginning of the end of classical diplomacy’, in which ‘the State ha[d] been, since the seventeenth century, the principal and sometimes the only, effective actor’. As Langhorne and Hamilton have convincingly argued in The Practice of Diplomacy, today’s diplomacy is characterised by a ‘blurring [of] the distinctions between what is diplomatic activity and what is not, and who, therefore are diplomats and who are not’.Quite revealing of this change on the international diplomatic stage is the proliferation and the increased importance of multifarious non-State actors (NSA). The waning of classical State diplomacy has thus been paralleled by the advent of transnational organisations, which, whether public or private, now play a key role in the conduct of diplomacy.
