Local vocabularies of “heritage”: Variations, Negotiations, Transformations
First congress of the Network of the Researchers on Heritagisations and the Centro Interdisciplinar de História, Culturas e Sociedades da Universidade de Évora. The central idea of this symposium is to carry out an international comparison of vocabulary variants and local linguistic uses of "heritage", both in the context of contact with international institutions and in the limited one of indigenous and customary uses. The symposium therefore proposes to take seriously the emic definitions and redefinitions of "indigenous terms" and to draw up a critical inventory of them, by going beyond the fiction of a continuous and globalized homogeneous "heritage" field. A comparative analysis and the confrontation of related concepts in the different local vocabularies would also make it possible to get the measure of the transactions, mutations, misunderstandings and transfers that may arise from the global contact initiated in cultural exchanges over the last two centuries. -

Proposé par le NUPEE (Noyau de recherches sur l'espace et l'économie), le deuxième colloque national espace et économie veut discuter des façons dont la mondialisation, en changeant le mode de régulation et le régime d'accumulation de capital, a affectée et continue à affecter la dynamique spatiale, en soulignant le besoin d'une analyse géographique. Si la compréhension de l'espace peut éclairer quelques questions parmi les plus importantes de l'actualité (l'exploitation du travail, l'intervention de l'État, les nouvelles configurations régionales, les politiques publiques), il faut évaluer comment il a été aménagé en tant qu'une pièce clé de la vie sociale. -

Identities and Limits
In the year which marks the 900th anniversary of the birth of the first King of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, the Centro de História of the Faculdade de Letras of Lisbon, decided, within the frame of its Research Group on Identity Models, to host an International Meeting in which experts on the construction and legitimation of new or renewed political entities and bodies, during the 12th and 13th centuries, as well as on the theoretical support for such development, might meet in order to debate and compare both the forms and the mechanisms involved in the construction of these new political realities and relationship between powers, which strangely enough seem to assume quite similar features in Medieval West during that period.
