Une transition écologique sous tension : pays, paysages, usages dans l’Allemagne contemporaine

Le point de départ est le constat selon lequel la transition écologique en Allemagne, dont on aurait pu penser qu’elle serait plus facile ou tout au moins plus harmonieuse que dans d’autres pays en raison de la place que la question environnementale a eue très tôt dans la culture, la société et la politique allemandes, rencontre en réalité de nombreux écueils voire est remise en question. En témoignent entre autres les difficultés de la transition énergétique ou le succès du parti Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) malgré – ou peut-être plutôt grâce à – sa ligne climatosceptique.

Das Käte Hamburger Kolleg für kulturelle Praktiken der Reparation (CURE) an der Universität des Saarlandes ist ein Institute for Advanced Study und wird seit 2024 vom Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR) gefördert. Jedes Jahr forscht eine internationale und interdisziplinäre Gruppe von Fellows am Kolleg. Für das dritte Kollegjahr (Oktober 2026 bis September 2027) schreiben wir bis zu 12 Fellowships mit einer Aufenthaltsdauer von 10 bis 12 Monaten aus (Beginn im Oktober 2026).

Perspectives transnationales depuis 1848

Cet atelier international se propose d’explorer l’histoire de la démocratie à la lumière des apports du spatial turn, et ce, à partir d’exemples aussi variés que possible et dans une perspective résolument transnationale. En plaçant la dimension spatiale au centre de l’histoire de la démocratie et en nous interrogeant sur les frontières, les interdépendances et les influences réciproques au-delà des frontières nationales, nous espérons faire émerger de nouvelles perspectives sur les systèmes démocratiques. Considérant que les révolutions de 1848 marqué la culture politique en Europe, l’atelier se focalisera la seconde moitié du XIX^e siècle et le XX^e siècle.

The Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies (IZEA) at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg is offering 5 part time (65%) positions as part of the “Politics of the Enlightenment” Research Training Group (RTG 2999) as a Research Associate (m-f-d) for a fixed term of up to 4 years, starting from 01.04.2026. The Resarch Training Group explores the politics of the Enlightenment from the 18th to the 21st century in two respects: On the one hand, it examines the political claims and interpretations that have been and are being developed in the name of the Enlightenment. On the other hand, it focuses on the political discussions and measures that shape the understanding of Enlightenment in a global context to this day.

List, compile, assemble: small forms and the power of collecting

Workshop of the research training group “The literary and epistemic history of small forms”

Unraveling the various asymmetries inherent in collecting requires shifting our focus from collections themselves to how collections come into being. This entails viewing collections as both purposeful and contingent results of scientific or cultural practice. Drawing on the history of collecting and the history of paperwork, this interdisciplinary workshop aims to enhance our understanding of the collecting processes involving written testimonies, inscriptions, and texts. With a focus on contexts such as artistic-literary primitivism or colonial encounters, the workshop proposes a comparative examination of the asymmetries associated with collecting via three main axes: actor-networks involved in the production of collections, the role of collecting in the management of life, and how collections emerge from asymmetrical media practices.

Small textual and material forms seem particularly adept at circulating within and between different publics. This conference investigates how the movement of brief, compressed, and otherwise small forms ranging from early modern pamphlets to Instagram stories shape the development of diverse publics, as well as the interplay between them. We propose to explore the relationship between small forms and publics through three related strands of inquiry: how infrastructures affect the circulation of small forms, how practices including remediation enable their circulation, and how the circulation of small forms shapes the formation, operation, and dissolution of public life.

Die Veranstaltung in Tübingen bildet nach Treffen in Aix-en-Provence und Paris den Abschluss der Serie von drei Symposien. Die auf Gegenwart und vor allem Zukunft gerichtete Idee einer Nachhaltigen Entwicklung, welche weltweit gerechtes und gutes menschliches Leben ermöglicht, ohne zugleich die Mitwelt und den Planeten irreversibel zu schädigen, wird nicht zuletzt durch Phänomene der Ungewissheit und Unsicherheit herausgefordert. Dies betrifft sowohl normative Fragen – sind die gewählten konkreten Wege und Ziele die richtigen und ist die Prioritätensetzung angemessen? – als auch empirische – ob und inwiefern und mit welchen Methoden sozial-ökologische Prozesse vorhersehbar und beeinflussbar sind und sich daraus mögliche Resilienz-Strategien o.ä. mit Blick auf Transformation ableiten lassen. Wir möchten historische, disziplinäre, inter- und transdisziplinäre Perspektiven auf diese Fragen gemeinsam diskutieren, um dadurch Grundlagen für einen guten Umgang damit zu schaffen.

Die Tagung widmet sich Konzepten und Praktiken von „Memoria“ in Nürnberg und Europa zwischen ca. 1450 und 1550. Dabei soll die Frage im Zentrum stehen, welche Ausdrucksformen Humanisten wählten, um an sich selbst oder andere zu erinnern und zu gedenken. Woran orientierten sie sich hierfür? Welche Rolle spielte die Religion, welche die Bildung? Um das Thema zu fassen, können ganz unterschiedliche Medien wie beispielsweise biografische Schriften, Epikedien, Trauerreden, Briefe, Predigten, Grabskulpturen, Musik und Epitaphien in den Blick genommen werden.

De Liège à Strasbourg. Recherches récentes sur la région frontalière franco-allemande au Moyen Âge central et à la fin du Moyen Âge (XIe-XVIe siècle)

La région frontalière entre le royaume de France et le Saint Empire représentait au Moyen Âge central et à la fin du Moyen Âge un espace dynamique, aussi bien sur le plan de la politique territoriale, que d’un point de vue économique, religieux, social et culturel. Les recherches en histoire sur cet espace requièrent donc toujours un travail transfrontalier. Le but du colloque est de fournir à de jeunes médiévistes en début de carrière une plateforme où présenter leurs projets de recherche actuels devant un public intéressé avec lequel ils et elles pourront discuter. Il s’agit également de nouer de nouveaux contacts à travers un échange dépassant les frontières et les barrières linguistiques. Le colloque destiné aux jeunes chercheur·euses se tiendra à l’université de Trèves, située au cœur de la « Grande Région ».

Sortir de l’enclos : jardins et politique(s). Histoires, expériences et perspectives franco-allemandes

Le colloque entend aborder la question des liens entre jardins et politique(s) sous un angle spécifiquement franco-allemand. Il s’agira d’évoquer le rôle des jardins comme symboles du pouvoir politique pour leurs créateurs, mais aussi la manière dont des jardins historiques ont pu être instrumentalisés ultérieurement à des fins politiques. Il sera également question des conséquences des tracés de frontières sur les jardins historiques – de leur destruction à leur reconstruction, sans oublier les opportunités de création de parcs transfrontaliers fonctionnant comme des « ponts culturels ». L’examen de l’importance des vertus pédagogiques et éducatives du jardin permettra l’évocation de problématiques contemporaines, tout comme l’attention accordée à son potentiel sociétal comme lieu d’intégration et d’engagement citoyen.

Die Ehe im Früh- und Hochmittelalter

Das Konzept „Ehe“ existiert seit jeher über unzählige Kultur- und Epochengrenzen hinweg. Sie wird romantisiert und emotionalisiert, aber – gerade im Mittelalter – auch als rechtliches und politisches Mittel genutzt. Dabei hat sich unser Bild von der Ehe im Früh- und Hochmittelalter in den letzten 15 bis 20 Jahren wesentlich geändert. Zentrale Aspekte des Themas Ehe, wie die Ausweitung des Inzestverbots, das „Konkubinat“ und die „Friedelehe“ wurden einer Neubewertung unterzogen und wirkmächtige Forschungskonstrukte revidiert. Daran knüpft unsere Tagung an, die sich der „Ehe“ in der Zeit von ca. 500 bis 1250 widmen und methodisch und inhaltlich neue Perspektiven entwickeln möchte.
