The Learner at the Heart of Educational and University System

The third edition of the International Citizen Education Forum focuses the attention of scientific contributors, experts, and citizen actors on The learner at the heart of the education and university system. It offers a moment of pause and reflection to fully grasp the complexity, the paradoxes and the challenges posed by the state of education and the pitfalls that weigh on the basic mission of the school (training, socialization, qualification ) and the university (training, research, services to the community). The dynamic that will be injected by this approach assumes that we are not content to simply grasp the inventory; on the contrary, it calls for projecting multiple and diversified development prospects.

Society in the age of covid-19

Causes, issues and consequences of a crisis

Art and decoloniality (practice, theory, paradigm)

This international symposium, « Art and decoloniality (practices, theory, paradigm) », far from the controversies that often stand in the way of a real scientific debate, proposes to analyze the effects of the phenomenon of « decolonization » both within sciences of art, and within artistic practices. The intention is to assess the possible epistemological and methodological repercussions, as well as the possible changes of objects of study and artistic approaches that this “question of the decolonial” may have given rise to.

Pedagogy in the digital age: obstacles and challenges

In the era of information and communication technologies (ICT), digital devices have taken precedence over other forms of language, thus allowing all those who have them to communicate in the best possible conditions. The humanities did not miss this great opportunity to join this movement by applying information technologies to the various disciplines of the humanities, letters and arts. The objective of this symposium is to question the articulation between research, learning situations and digital tools for the optimization of the quality of teaching.

The conference “Borders, Limits and Environment: times, spaces, methods” held in Mulhouse from 1st December to 3d December, 2022, aims at deepening the dialogue between humanities and social sciences on environmental questions by considering the theme of borders and limits. These two terms can be considered as historical or geographical objects, but also as a way to reflect upon disciplinary, methodological or didactic limits. During the conference, we wish to study, and maybe to reconnect the links between studies and academic disciplines involving time, space and the environment, especially between environmental history and geohistory of the environment.

    Cinematerialisms

New Materialist Approaches to the Audiovisual (Cinema, Media, Digital Arts)

The goal of this conference is to investigate the contemporary reconfigurations of the notion of materialism within the disciplines of the arts and of audiovisual cultures. Is it possible to locate a common or core base of materialist practices, methods, or objects of study in these disciplines, or must we accept the plurality of meanings associated with this theoretical axis? To what degree is it productive to distinguish between the terms material, materiality, materiological, etc.? Beyond these terminological questions, we intend to interrogate the points of articulation between reflections on the materiality of audiovisual works and the materialist analysis of their processes of production and reception.
