The Art Museum in the Digital Age (2026)
This international online conference explores the complex interrelations between truth, fake and falsified information, and knowledge authority in the context of digital transformation processes. In light of increasing disinformation, AI-generated content, and algorithmic bias, museums face the challenge of rethinking their role as trusted spaces for knowledge dissemination. At the same time, digital technologies open up new possibilities for participation, contextualization, and translation. At the heart of the conference is the question of how museums can assume digital responsibility and actively contribute to fostering an open and reflective information culture.

In L’économie du XXe siècle (The Economy of the 20th Century), François Perroux stated that “we do not have a comprehensive, coherent and usable theory of what I propose to call the ’domination effect’” Why talk about relations of domination when we are dealing with the circulation of knowledge, imaginaries, and skills in relation to linguistic diversity? When there is circulation, movement, transfer, there are differences in level, which means that knowledge, imaginations and skills do not emerge everywhere at the same time and in the same way, giving rise to differences, imbalances and potential conflicts.

Le colloque infoclio.ch 2025 explore les antécédents intellectuels et techniques de la notion d’Open science et discute des enjeux pratiques de sa mise en œuvre à l’ère des modèles génératifs d’intelligence artificielle.

Ce séminaire constitue un lieu d’échanges sur les travaux actuels concernant les transferts culturels. À chaque séance, deux chercheurs sont invités pour présenter leurs recherches et débattre de leur approche. Le cadre intellectuel est celui de l’histoire et de l’épistémologie des sciences humaines, et le fil directeur des séances, méthodologique : il s’agit de repérer les vecteurs par lesquels s’opèrent les déplacements de contenus intellectuels et culturels ainsi que de questionner les processus de resémantisation qui accompagnent ces transformations. D’une séance à l’autre, les thématiques varient : ce choix est lié au souci de tester la pertinence de l’approche en termes de transferts culturels au-delà de la diversité des objets abordés et de nouer un dialogue entre les disciplines.

Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies, offers 8 temporary positions as part of the “Politics of the Enlightenment” Research Training Group, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2029 (48 months), as a Research Associate (m-f-d) Part time (65%). The Research Training Group (RTG) examines the politics of the Enlightenment from the 18th century to today. Its approach is twofold: firstly, it asks – in terms of the genitivus subjectivus – how both the historical Enlightenment of the 18th century and also later Enlightenment enterprises think and act in a political sense. Secondly, it questions – in terms of the genitivus objectivus – how the conception of Enlightenment is constructed and perpetually renewed through political aims and decisions: How does the Enlightenment shape politics? And how do politics shape the Enlightenment?

Conservation-restoration of embroidered textiles from the Renaissane to the 19th century

The study of embroidered textiles presents several points of interest: research may focus on the embroidery itself (materials, techniques, patterns), its supporting medium (nature, composition of materials, type of weaving), as well as the relationships between these two fields. We aim to identify topics of discussion by juxtaposing ancient texts with materials analysis; to present examples of the conservation of embroidered textiles with an emphasis on the choice of technical protocols; and to consider the difficult problem of exhibiting these rare and precious textiles.

Quo vadis ouvre un espace de discussion franco-allemand pour les doctorantes et doctorants et les étudiants de master dont les projets s’inscrivent en histoire médiévale et/ou utilisent les méthodes des humanités numériques comme approches analytiques. Sur la base d’une publication scientifique sélectionnée, la méthode utilisée ou la théorie suivie dans le projet doit être présentée afin de discuter ensemble des problèmes qui découlent de son utilisation dans le cadre d’un travail scientifique, dans l’objectif de trouver des solutions à ceux-ci. L’objectif est de mettre en contact les jeunes chercheurs et chercheuses : les chercheurs présentent leurs projets ainsi qu’un article scientifique de la littérature, essentiel à leur recherche.

La troisième édition du colloque international Les relations culturelles européennes au sein du Triangle de Weimar se concentre sur les constellations culturelles, historiques et politiques qui permettent et favorisent le transfert culturel entre la France, la Pologne et l’Allemagne. Une attention particulière sera accordée aux jalons et césures dans l’histoire jusqu’à nos jours, ainsi qu’à leurs répercussions sur la coopération européenne dans un contexte trinational. En mettant en avant des perspectives qui peuvent être historiques, contemporaines et/ou tournées vers l’avenir, le colloque souhaite être une plateforme de discussion autour des défis socio-politiques influant sur la réalité quotidienne des citoyen·ne·s européen·ne·s, pour lesquels il s’agit de trouver des solutions supranationales.

This international symposium brings together transdisciplinary researchers in order to renew the outlook on European Protohistory. Protohistoric societies having left few texts, can sites or artefacts tell us about the immaterial production of knowledge? Recent researches on comparatism, in archaeoastronomy, ethnomathematics, paleopathology or bioarchaeology, show that these societies produced knowledge and transmitted it, raising the question of the exchange of this knowledge and technologies. The texts produced by the contemporaries of the Celts show a complex and codified culture, corroborated by the found artefacts. Our gaze must therefore depart from a disciplinary compartmentalization, researches combining archaeology, astronomy, artificial intelligence, mathematics, provide interesting answers on this question.

The relationship between “knowledge”, “power” and “action” affects many areas of social life and individual existence. Let us think, for example, of politics, health care or education: What kind of knowledge is at the service of power? How “having to let know” and “not wanting to know” intersect in clinical practice? How to teach and to learn “to act” and “to be able to act”? In all these areas, philosophy can accompany a careful reflection on the three concepts with the aim of learning more: about “knowledge” in its various forms (theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge, universal knowledge and singular knowledge, rational knowledge and sensitive knowledge); about “power” as the ability to act and produce effects or also as authority and domination; about “action” in its manifold implications, especially about the responsibility towards others that is always inherent in it.

Mediator, Depakine, Thalidomides, contaminated blood, breast implants... health scandals over the past fifty years have regularly focused general attention on the problem of medical risk. They have raised many questions, abundantly relayed by the different media, showing us how crucial and complex the question of medical error is: where did the error come from? But before becoming a scandal, medical error has also been an inherent risk in the practice of medicine, since its very beginning. A mistake in diagnosis, prognosis or therapy, no matter how small, can have disastrous consequences for the doctor and the patient if not detected and corrected. Far from the huge media coverage of current health scandals, what is the status of medical error in ancient medicines and what are its issues?

Research and innovation practices in non-academic settings in Europe (17th-21th Centuries)
The aim of this conference is to examine the production of scientific, medical, technical and artistic knowledge in non-academic settings in Europe between the 17th and 21st centuries. The point is to understand who these non-academic social actors were, and to study the interactions between their research conditions, the knowledge produced and its reception. No presupposition on the marginality of or indeed centrality of said social actors should be deduced from the wording of the question. On the contrary, it calls for a study of the complex interactions between social and scholarly social spheres.

Ce numéro spécial de la revue Tsantsa souhaite initier une réflexion anthropologique autour des questions suivantes : Comment et dans quelle mesure le synthétique et le digital peuvent-ils aussi être biologiques, et qu’y a-t-il de naturel dans des produits et processus artificiels ? Quelles sont les frontières et les formes de contamination entre intelligence humaine et artificielle, entre production digitale et matérielle, ceci aussi bien dans les espaces économiques que dans les sphères intimes de la vie ? Quels questions et enjeux l’émergence de cultures digitales et synthétiques posent-elles à la condition humaine et post-humaine ? Comment le travail, la santé et les pratiques sociales sont-elles transformées par la digitalisation et le synthétisation croissantes des processus de production ? Comment la valeur est-elle créée et définie au travers de ces différents ordres épistémologiques, matériels et sociaux ? Quelles sont les conditions politiques, épistémologiques, écologiques et sociales qui sous-tendent un futur où propriétés digitales et synthétiques sont toujours plus imbriquées ?

Ethnology, prehistory and politics from the late 19th century to the interwar period
Ce projet de colloque s’inscrit dans le cadre du programme ANR/DFG ANTHROPOS 2 (2018-2020), Une histoire croisée de l’ethnologie et de la préhistoire en Allemagne et en France jusqu’aux années 1960 porté par l’Institut Frobenius et Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle. Il a pour objectif d’étudier les outils conceptuels forgés par la préhistoire et l’ethnologie, en particulier dans le cadre du tournant organiciste depuis le début du XIXe siècle et de l’émergence de la déclinaison de l’idée d’aires culturelles, de montrer les transferts théoriques s’opérant entre ces deux disciplines, tout en analysant leurs origines et implications politiques dans leurs contextes nationaux.

The 2019 conference in Trier will focus on this process of diffusion and transformation of zoological data in Late Antiquity and the Byzantine Period by selected case studies. We welcome studies on single authors or texts in Greek, Latin and Arabic, studies on visual images and monuments, or – in a wider perspective – on literary genres, different media in the visual arts or specific cultural contexts in view of their influence on literature and art.

L’avènement de la modernité s’est accompagné d’une critique radicale de la métaphysique traditionnelle. Depuis les Lumières (notamment françaises) et plus encore avec Nietzsche et sa déconstruction des « Hinterweltler », la quête de justifications ultimes (Letztbegründungen) ou de connaissances transcendant l’immanence est devenue une entreprise largement suspecte. Si le rétablissement de systèmes métaphysiques aspirant à « expliquer tout », comme le formulait Kierkegaard avec ironie, ne semble aujourd’hui ni possible ni souhaitable, se pose toutefois la question de savoir s’il reste légitime de poser des questions métaphysiques dans l’ère post-métaphysique, et sous quelle forme.

Professors, students and public powers in Europe (1848-1945)
Cette journée d’études souhaite, sur la période d’un siècle allant des révolutions de 1848 à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, interroger la relation entre l’université et le politique. Il s’agira de réfléchir aux liens multiples entre acteurs du champ universitaire, qu’ils enseignent, étudient ou administrent, et acteurs du champ politique, dans l’espace européen. Une problématique centrale que cette journée d’études propose de questionner est celle de l’autonomie du champ universitaire, de sa constitution et de son éventuelle limitation, par rapport au champ politique, dans une période où l’institution universitaire est en pleine expansion et transformée par la formation de nouvelles disciplines, liée professionnalisation et la spécialisation des métiers scientifiques et intellectuels.
