Entre memoria y agentivida, ¿cómo refleja el agua la capacidad de los individuos y las comunidades humanas para articular discursos o actos de resistencia a través del arte ? ¿Las representaciones del agua —elemento dual— funcionan como símbolos de violencia o permiten imaginar otras formas de habitar el mundo ?

Fotografiar la ciudad española: Historia de la fotografía, prácticas y desafíos – Siglos XIX-XX
Cette journée d’étude, organisée à l’occasion de l’exposition Sur les pas des Lumière. Séville en couleurs au Collège d’Espagne, se propose d’explorer l’histoire de la photographie urbaine espagnole des XIXe et XXe siècles à travers ses techniques, ses usages, ses supports et ses enjeux esthétiques. En s’appuyant sur des exemples précis, elle tentera de mettre en lumière les conditions matérielles de production, de diffusion et de réception des images urbaines. Il s’agira également de réfléchir aux choix esthétiques et aux contraintes techniques qui ont façonné les représentations des villes espagnoles depuis le XIXe siècle, dans un contexte de perpétuelle évolution des pratiques photographiques.

It examines the role of design in the sustainable transformation of the desert through three key approaches: the desert as an in situ creative laboratory, an in vitro catalyst for innovation, and an in vivo space for learning.

The aim of this colloquium is to highlight the histories of photography generated during the processes of decolonization, while rethinking methodological and aesthetic approaches to the medium that are still too Western-centric. What has happened to the production and circulation of photographers and their images since the independence struggles? How did new iconographies, new aesthetics and, with them, new networks of visual exchange develop, complicating the one-sided visibilities and photographic circulations from the “South” to the “North” established during the colonial periods?

Ce colloque propose de réfléchir à la façon dont les désastres (catastrophes naturelles, pandémies, guerres civiles, dictatures, etc.) affectent la construction des subjectivités individuelles et les liens communautaires.

It engages all five senses, and not only sight as is often believed. How are these sensations conveyed to the reader in manga? What roles do images, text, narration and onomatopoeia play? But we want to explore Ethics from an artistic point-of-view: How do artists/artworks contribute to the ethical debate? Is there an ethical way to create art? Far from being confined to his era, Geoffrey Chaucer's work continues to resonate through the ages, inspiring a multitude of post-medieval representations. The poet himself remains a regularly invoked figure, sometimes even without direct connection to his texts, suggesting an autonomous legacy of Chaucer both as a man and an artist. Whether through the prism of cinema, music, theater, television, poetry, or other artistic forms, the poet remains an endless source of inspiration and reinterpretation. This conference invites us to question how adaptations and reinterpretations of Chaucer and/or his work by artists from diverse cultural backgrounds enrich our understanding of his legacy. His various incarnations over the centuries raise fascinating issues regarding intercultural dialogue, the politics of memory, and the evolution of popular culture.

Consisting of about 120,000 items, the vast collection of photographs of the Brussels Royal Museums of Art and History has never been studied thoroughly. This project aims at the assessment, study and disclosure of this collection. This function is part of the FED-tWIN programme of the Federal Science Policy, which aims to promote sustainable cooperation between the ten Federal Scientific Institutions and the 11 Belgian universities through the funding of joint research profiles. In this case, its is a joint initiative of the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels and Ghent University. The position consists of a part-time position at the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels combined with a part-time position at Ghent University. It combines research tasks, educational tasks, organization of exhibitions, project leading tasks.

Histories of Photography from the Struggles for Independence: practices, circulations and aesthetics
It's a well-known fact that the history of photography as a discipline has for the most part been constructed as that of "Western" photography, more specifically that of Europe and the United States. Between the introduction of so-called "extra-Western" photographers on the contemporary art market since the 1990s and the numerous works on the history of the medium during colonial periods, there is still a lack of information on the history of photography from the liberation and independence struggles onwards, from a global and transnational perspective, across all geographical zones. The aim of this colloquium is to highlight the histories of photography generated during the processes of decolonization, while rethinking methodological and aesthetic approaches to the medium that are still too Western-centric.

Writing a Decentred and Entangled History of Cinema-Going
Epistemological and Methodological Issues
The aim of this conference is to shift the focus of the study of cinema, which is largely centred on Western Europe and the United States. It will bring to a close the 'Faire communauté(s) face à l'écran' research project (Université Paris Lumières, École universitaire de recherche ArTeC), which for three years has been examining the identities of cinema audiences and intermediaries involved in the exploitation and distribution of cinematographic entertainment in the twentieth century from a transnational and comparative perspective.
