Economy of leftovers and recycling
Social, political and environmental dynamics in the Global South
Economies built around waste – rubbish, unsold goods, surplus, scrap, used materials – are becoming increasingly important in the Global South. This issue therefore aims to examine these forms of economic activity from three main perspectives: environmental, socio-economic and political. The objective is to bring together empirical and theoretical work that documents, compares and problematises these waste economies based on surveys conducted in Southern countries, while taking into account the circulation and cross-influences with Northern countries. These ‘waste products’ can take various forms, which the issue intends to consider in an open and pluralistic perspective.

Emerging Practices in Technologies and Communication for Development
Digital technologies constitute a central factor in the transformation of contemporary societies, with artificial intelligence representing one of their most significant vectors. They simultaneously carry promises of innovation and participation, and act as vectors of dependency, exclusion, and renewed forms of domination. The aim is to explore the tensions that run through the imagination, uses and challenges of artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies, combining critical approaches, field studies and theoretical perspectives.

Geographies of Vulnerability. Assessing Protection in the Screening and Resettlement of Refugees
Central to policy discourses on refugee protection and resettlement is the imperative to include those with the greatest needs. International protection mechanisms for refugees increasingly aim to categorize and identify target populations according to their vulnerability. This topical collection recognizes vulnerability as fluid and contested, shaped by evolving policy landscapes and international cooperation dynamics and explores the impact of different understandings of vulnerability on access to protection and the aim of burden-sharing.

Maintaining public goods in an era of austerity
Espaces et Société n°200, march 2027
This special issue aims to highlight the spatial dimension of public goods maintenance and evolution in the context of austerity by adopting the spatial care perspective through three axes: 1) actors and practices involved in maintaining public goods; 2) maintaining public goods on a day-to-day basis; 3) the work and values of public goods. We encourage ethnographic and situated perspectives that consider top-down political experimentation, bottom-up urban practices and their convergence in the protection, maintenance and regeneration of public goods. This call is open to interdisciplinary, national and international contributions.

Economies of Renewal and Transformation
The "celebration" or post-crisis period is not merely a moment of festivity but an opportunity for tension release, reinvention, collective creativity, and the creation of new identities and relationships. This symposium proposes to examine how, from an economic and organizational perspective, societies reshape, rebuild, and find new avenues for transformation after times of crisis, both systemically and discursively.

The word crisis, derived from the Greek word krisis, means judgment, decision. Conceptually speaking, “a crisis is an illness” (a conceptual metaphor justified diachronically by its etymological meaning of “the decisive phase of an illness”), or “it is a war”, if we focus on the meaning of “an outbreak with violent manifestations”. It is, therefore, a moment of major change. Our societies are plagued by successive and often overlapping crises, enabling them - if not forcing them - to evolve and transform themselves. The conference will focus on two parallel and complementary themes: “The economic crisis / The economy of the crisis” and “Discourse in a time of crisis”.

Call for papers - Ethnology, anthropology
This edition of Savoirs en Prisme review proposes some reflexions on how their manner of conversing defines human societies. Nowadays the word conversation can refer to interactions without voice or body using predictive text and artificial intelligence. Can this type of communication meet the needs of human beings? Is not face-to-face conversation a necessity, almost an urgency at the moment? Literature and all forms of representations have bequeathed to us this principle present at the very core of societies.

Chinese public space, a shared space?
Espaces et Sociétés’ perspective on the Chinese city and urbanization, through a notion that is both distinctive and paradoxical in China: public space. The title of this call for papers, “Chinese public space, a shared space?” questions on the one hand the specific definition of Chinese public space, which is undergoing very rapid changes, and on the other hand its ability to be “shared” locally and internationally.

A Time after a Setback: Persistent Reverberations of the Carnation Revolution
Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal Nº 21
At a time when there will be multiple proposals for perspectives on the fiftieth anniversary of April 25, 1974, a revolution marked by a euphoria that surpassed the day before and that surprised the day after, in an unlocking of the future, we suggest a look at the threshold of several disciplines in this cross-sectional issue of Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal, between the social and human sciences, the arts, literature and other forms of intervention in reality, through four areas.
