  Ce colloque a pour objectif d'étudier la manière dont les langues et cultures régionales trouvent leur place dans les manuels scolaires, selon quels critères et avec quels objectifs. Il fait suite au colloque organisé en 2006 à Montpellier sur l'École et les langues régionales. Sa perspective est historique et didactique. Il s'agit de discerner la manière dont les langues et cultures régionales sont vues par les éditeurs généralistes, mais aussi comment les militants de ces langues envisagent leur étude à travers les manuels qu'ils créent eux-mêmes.

  Mythical space and orientation

  40th congress of the Société de mythologie française

  Le XL^e congrès annuel de la Société de mythologie française, organisé à Pontgibaud près de Clermont-Ferrand, du 31 août au 4 septembre 2017, se propose de réfléchir à la notion « d’espaces mythiques » et à la façon dont les techniques d’orientation les ont définis ou permettront de les définir. En effet, les récits mythiques mettent en évidence, de façon souvent explicite, la forme géométrique du territoire, mais aussi l’assignation de communautés humaines à des emplacements tels que le Nord ou le Midi, l’Ouest ou l’Est. Décrypter l’origine, la transmission et l’évolution des notions de « géographie sacrée » et « d’espaces mythiques » sera l’un des enjeux du congrès.

  The writing of geography

  Ce séminaire entend développer l’investigation des formes savantes de l’écriture géographique en les mettant en contact et en tension avec d’autres formes de textes qui portent également des modalités de connaissance ou de questionnement géographiques : l’écriture de fiction sous tous ses registres, mais aussi le texte descriptif, le récit de voyage, l’essai, ou encore les écrits intimes. On fait en effet l’hypothèse que les formes d’écriture savante ne procèdent pas seulement d’un formatage disciplinaire, mais tout autant d’une matrice culturelle dans laquelle s’inscrit l’activité scientifique. Les choix d’écriture du monde savant seront dans cet esprit mis en perspective avec des pratiques d’écritures artistiques (et des réflexions sur ces pratiques) qui leur sont contemporaines.

  Depuis sa publication anonyme en 1670, le Traité théologico-politique ne cesse pas d’interroger les interprètes en raison de la complexe stratification de réflexions épistémologiques, anthropologiques, éthiques, théologiques et politiques qui y trouvent place. La journée d’étude essaiera de jeter une lumière nouvelle sur les premiers chapitres du Traité (de I à VII), dans lesquels Spinoza analyse et redéfinit les notions clés de l’imaginaire théologique.

  The disciplinary constitution of the humanities and social sciences in 19th and 20th century Greece: National traditions and transnational movements

  25th Modern Greek Studies Conference of French-speaking universities

  The biennial Congress of French-speaking Modern Greek Studies scholars will take place from October 12^th to October 14^th, 2017 in Aix-en-Provence. Its aim is to bring together researchers from every domain of the humanities and social sciences. The issue at the heart of this 15^th Congress is the historical progress of certain areas of study towards the status of full-fledged disciplines of the humanities and social sciences in Greece from the moment of the establishment of the Greek state (1830) and within a context allowing the study of this phenomenon in both its regional and its international dimensions.

   

  The works of the Congress will be organized around the following themes:

  1. The emergence, institutionalization, reproduction and diffusion of disciplinary bodies of knowledge.

  2. The way each discipline positions itself with relation to other fields of knowledge and implements its theoretical foundations

  3. The processes of establishing legitimacy for the new disciplines and for the groups framing them

  4. Disciplinarization and the field of Modern Greek Studies

   

  Abstracts must be submitted before February 28^th, 2017, in either French or English.

  From science bookstores in the 19th century to digital knowledge

  Le séminaire étudie l'organisation du travail intellectuel à partir de l'activité de publication scientifique du XIX^e siècle à aujourd'hui. En 2016-2017, il poursuivra les enquêtes en cours sur les revues et leurs acteurs éditoriaux (directeurs, rédacteurs, traducteurs, indexeurs, collaborateurs, libraires...) ; il s'intéressera aussi à d'autres produits éditoriaux tels que les encyclopédies. Il mobilise l'expérience d'historiens du livre, d'historiens des sciences, d'anthropologues et de sociologues comme de spécialistes des sciences, des sciences de l'information et des humanités numériques.

  History Review of the technical modernity in France (the twentieth century to the present)

  Critical thinking of modernity has never been more relevant. She also has a history, especially since the late eighteenth century. Its players may have been either movements (1810 Luddites to the Surrealists in the late 1950s, and other movements today) or relatively isolated thinkers, and more involved in writing (sometimes the pamphlet) than in transformative political action. The proposed program focuses on this second category, most misunderstood, but also addresses the first category – in both cases over a period extending from the early twentieth century to today. It puts them into perspective with some excitement speeches of the dominant technical modernity that often they criticize, especially in the period of the 1930s and that of the years 1960-1980.

  Powers of Imagination. Historical Approach

  The concept of imagination is today seen as as a legitimate object of study, having long been discredited by scientific research. However, in modern and contemporary literature, imagination is generally considered in a negative way, as a mental faculty that can cause disease, error, illusion or sin. By cons, its role was very important, because the imagination formed the necessary link between body and soul. So that was the preferred place to act to perform bodily healing as well as spiritual. We would go against this idea of imagination by studying intellectual tradition and alternative and misunderstood practice. Since the XII^th and XIII^th centuries until the early XIX^th century, thinkers and practitioners from a diverse set of disciplines, expressing themselves from different institutional positions, supported the idea that imagination has great powers on the body and on the body and mind of others.

  La notion de barbarie a subi, au cours des derniers siècles, des transformations sémantiques qui nécessitent une attention particulière des historiens, des anthropologues et des philosophes. Redéfinir un espace de réflexion capable de saisir les changements de ce concept peut donc être une contribution importante à l'histoire de la culture et de la pensée contemporaine. Le concept semble aujourd'hui exiger également une réflexion nouvelle du point de vue philosophique. Ce colloque franco-italien a pour objet d’analyser les étapes cruciales qui ont caractérisé la transformation de cette notion, pour éclairer son usage aujourd'hui.

  In this conference, we will examine different occurrences of lying in Anglophone literature, films and comics, but also in the media or the political life of Anglophone countries. We will analyse the various intentions and strategies, as well as the artistic interest and pertinence of the phenomenon. We will consider to what extent lying occurs differently in different contexts, and why this should be so, whether certain historical periods, genres, geographical, social, political or personal contexts are more favourable to lying.

  From Baltimore 1966 to the present day

  Structuralism and its return journeys

  Il y a exactement un demi-siècle, très précisément pendant la semaine du 18 au 21 octobre 1966, se tenait à l’Université Johns Hopkins de Baltimore un colloque organisé par E. Donato, R. Girard, R. Macksey et intitulé « The Languages of Criticism and the Sciences of Man ». Il s’agissait de faire connaître au public américain le « structuralisme ». Cinquante ans plus tard, nous reviendrons sur certains des vrais enjeux historiques de ce colloque qui, plus que tout autre, nous confronte à l’importance et à l’ambiguïté de l’événement structuraliste pour toute la pensée française contemporaine. Nous nous interrogerons aussi tant sur l’actualité de ce qui s’est joué alors que sur ce qui, aujourd’hui, tient lieu de cet échange transatlantique et/ou serait susceptible de faire évènement de manière comparable.
