Para seu numero 11, RITA se propõe de interrogar na sua seção Thema os vínculos entre poder e mídias nas Américas. Diferentes orientações podem ser evocadas, sem ser exclusivas. Artigos que tratarão da analise critica das mídias oficiais ou artigos sobre as mídias de oposição, em contextos históricos e geográficos variados, estão benvindos. Outras contribuições poderiam se interessar pelos efeitos das diferentes formas de tratamento mediático reservadas aos movimentos populares. Análises criticas sobre as relações entre mídias e poderes econômicos são também esperadas. O dossiê temático poderá também integrar reflexões sobre a recente diversificação das mídias de informação, tratando por exemplo do aparecimento de mídias “alternativas” na Internet ou do poder das fake news na construção das representações coletivas.

Le colloque se propose d'analyser dans une perspective multidiscliplinaire (la participation de sociologues, anthropologues, historiens, philosophes, experts de littératures anciennes et modernes est souhaitée) les problèmes posés par les notions d'indentité, alterité, transformation, soit à partir de l'examen de cas d'études, soit à partir d'une perspective epistémologique.

Modèles, données et algorithmes dans et pour l'action publique

L’action publique est traversée par des intentions d’anticiper les situations futures, pour mieux définir les décisions à prendre au présent. Face à l’incertitude et aux risques, elle reprend à son compte la pratique scientifique qui consiste à calculer et modéliser ces situations pour mieux anticiper, sinon les prédire. Que le futur soit objet de connaissance et d'action n'est pourtant pas chose nouvelle. Quelle est la caractéristique du rapport politique contemporain aux futurs ? Qui prédit, comment et avec quels effets sur les politiques conduites, les controverses qui les entourent, les rapports de pouvoir ? Comment les différentes pratiques de computation et de prédiction, des modèles computationnels au traitement algorithmique des données, s’institutionnalisent-elles, ou en viennent à être contestées, et changent ?

The journal’s stated aim is to draw together all academics who share an interest in festivities, including but not limited to holiday celebrations, family rituals, carnivals, religious feasts, processions and parades, and civic commemorations. The specific contributions of the historical, geographical, sociological, anthropological, ethnological, psychological, and economic disciplines to the study of festivities may be explored but, more importantly, authors should offer guidelines on how to successfully integrate them. How can one reconcile, for instance, the discourse of “festival tourism,” dominated by the positivistic, quantitative research paradigm of consumer behavior approaches, with a more classical discourse, mostly flowing from cultural anthropology and sociology, concerning the roles, meanings and impacts of festivals in society and culture?

Christianity emerged as an urban phenomenon, yet monasticism is more often than not presented as an escape from the sinful town into the wilderness, and as more concerned with the soul than with the body. Ascetics, however, have always had a vested interest in the city, and not only symbolically. Monasticism has been an important urban presence since Late Antiquity up to the Late Middle Ages, even if they were sometimes in competition with newer religious orders.

Cinéma diasporique sud-asiatique : Rencontres

The fourth issue of /DESI/ will focus on the question of encounters in diasporic South Asian cinema: Afghanistan, India, Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh Nepal and Sri Lanka. The transformation of this contemporary human condition into filmic material coincides with a turn in the scientific study of diasporas. Forced migrations, which generate a movement of displacement and settlement in home territories, movements of arrivals, caught in a logic of deterritorialization, diasporas – and more particularly South Asian diasporas – are all relocated in transnational and transcultural spaces. Cinema holds a mirror to this experience of movement through this new “ethnoscape” (Appadurai) made up of shifts and disjunctures, free flows and political hurdles, border-crossings and assignment of identity.

Louis Marin’s To DestroyPainting and The Origin of Perspective by Hubert Damisch were bothtranslated into English and other languages, and had considerableimpact on art historical discussions around their topics. For this panel, we seek papers discussing one of these seminal books – or indeed both together – and the legacy of Damisch’s and Marin’s contributions to the discipline.

Séditions et révoltes dans la réflexion politique de l’Europe moderne

Nous souhaitons consacrer une rencontre internationale à la réflexion politique à laquelle ces divers mouvements de révolte ont pu mener, qu’il s’agisse de réflexions inspirées par un événement particulier ou de considérations plus générales sur les causes des séditions et des mouvements de contestation, les moyens d’y remédier et de les prévenir, leurs effets néfastes ou au contraire régénérateurs. L’analyse portera sur un ensemble d’écrits politiques rédigés à l’usage des gouvernants ou d’un plus large public – mémoires et rapports, mais aussi traités sur l’art de gouverner qui foisonnent partout en Europe à l’époque moderne et connaissent une large réception. Si cette littérature a coutume de faire usage d’exemples historiques, généralement éloignés dans le temps et ou dans l’espace, il faut s’interroger sur les possibles répercussions sur la réflexion théorique d’une expérience tirée de mouvements de révolte récents ou contemporains.

While research conducted in the context of the project focus primarily on the medium-sized cities Hangzhou, Zhuhai and Datong, the conference will consider urban China in its diversity, with a great variety of case studies including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Tianjin, the region of the Taihu lake etc. It will address the issue of sustainability from a broad perspective, tackling ageing housing, social inclusion, urban governance, environmental sustainability, participatory processes in urban planning, with a multi-disciplinary approach ranging from geography, political science, economy, sociology, computer science, environmental science, etc.
