From the Closed Internet to Infinite Metaverses? The future of technological mediation in journalism and the media

    Supporting Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship

Review of Entrepreneurship - special issue

This special issue proposal aims to collect original work focused on different ways of supporting creative and cultural entrepreneurship (CCE), including the entrepreneurial work of those who themselves provide support for CCE. We invite a wide range of contributions aimed at analyzing different support logics, in different geographical, sectoral, political, and institutional contexts. We particularly aim at international, comparative perspectives that could help us take stock of novel ways of supporting CCE.

    Crises in the Americas

    Revue « RITA » N°16

Crises are generally understood as undesirable, unexpected and contingent situations. In this issue of RITA, we wish to question the production of these phenomena that are calledcrises, from “laissez-faire” to “negligence”; from the banalization of the crisis in media oracademic discourse to the enunciation processes of public authorities. In “times of crises”, theywill justify more directly the imposition of social, economic or even military measures.

The world of sports in the Americas and their political, cultural and social representations

    Amerika Journal n°25

Sporting events mark the center of interest in the social life for many countries in the world. However, if we focus on the Americas, this importance is even more obvious. Sport becomes a reason for encounter, community, and connection. It brings out levels of interest and reinforces local, regional or beyond that, the game that is often unparalleled. Few people escape the passion that surrounds a country in the face of success in global competitions. This phenomenon, based on collective pride, pushes boundaries and includes even the most critical viewers. Can we consider this contradiction one of the keys to success?

Artificial intelligence and artistic and literary creation

International Conference on digital humanities n°2

The aim of this conference is to pursue, starting from the heritage of humanism, as a movement and a current of thought stemming from the Renaissance, the uses of the digital in the process of redefining the Human and the Humanism. What is the place of the human being while confronted to the promised alterations and the technological and ecological challenges? How does the change induced by digital and computational models lead to a reconsideration of the individual and the collective, and open the way to new practices (from writing to reception) of literary and artistic works? What approaches do the disciplines of the humanities take and what can they ‘do’ in a sometimes blurred ecosystem? How do literary and artistic works establish new narratives, “shaken up” and modified by the irruption of technologies?

Class, Race and Place in the US South: American Politics Through the Lens of Michael Goldfield’s Work

Recent events in the United States remind us to what extent the South is both a place of distinctive identities and a space sharing a common heritage. According to the political scientist Michael Goldfield, “The South is a distinctive, atypical part of the United States; it is also, however, America writ large”. These specificities are inscribed in social, cultural, political and, according to the author, above all economic structures, in a configuration that makes any definition of the “South” problematic. On the occasion of the release of Michael Goldfield’s latest book, The Southern Key (2020) we want to address these issues during an international symposium in the presence of the author.

Internationalization of intelligence methods. The case of the military attachés

    Making women’s history

Circulation of knowledge around the Baltic Sea from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century

We have come a long way since the first university courses on women’s and gender history, and it is more than ever at the heart of current scientific interests. This field of research has been very well received when applied to Nordic studies, as shown by the large number of projects that are being organized. It is in this continuity that we wish, to question the place of women around the Baltic Sea and the way in which we can apprehend, study, and report their history. It seems necessary to carry out this research to deconstruct female figures, from the anonymous to the great names of history, in a space that we limit to the Baltic Sea and the regions that border it.

Christian missionary productions in distant territories: a comparative approach on strategies and alterity

Melting and dissolution: a contemporary aesthetic?

    « Cultural Express » - 2023

At the Anthropocene epoch, where the cyclicality of seasons no longer holds sway, where the characteristic climatic markers of winter are fading, we aim to question the paradigm of melting, dissolution, liquefaction, and on the opposite, drying. In this sense, the contributors will study the disappearance of the winter season in contemporary productions, fictions or non-fictions, in order to highlight the articulation between the affective loss of this ideation and what contemporary societies perceive of themselves.

    Animal Magnetism in Motion

    Reconfigurations and Circulations, 1776-1848

The European, and later global, circulation of theories and practices of animal magnetism, which covers a large part of the “long 19th century”, is a phenomenon that is significant but little studied in its complexity. The theory of the universal fluid and the magnetic therapies developed by Franz Anton Mesmer in Vienna flourished in Paris, and spread around 1784 all over France, to the colonies, to Malta and throughout Europe following the trajectories of learned, Masonic, mystical and esoteric societies, and of artistic and musical creation. This phenomenon of diffusion continued and was extended, particularly after the Revolution, in a double dynamic of claimed continuity with Mesmer’s discoveries, and of re-elaboration in the direction of the practices of somnambulism and hypnosis. It deserves to be studied from different sources, perspectives and disciplinary approaches.

    Violence and digital

We have just undergone a health crisis of rare proportions and the violence of the war in Europe is engulfing us on a daily basis. How do we cope with such brutality? How can we overcome difficult events of this type? How can children and adolescents cope with such threats on the psychological level? What is the impact on health in general? And last but not least, what kind of treatment is needed? How can we respond to the massive increase in suicide attempts that we are currently witnessing? How should suffering be assessed? What innovative forms of care can occupational physicians, psychiatrists or psychologists offer? Online therapies seem to have undeniable advantages for some patients but what effect does this have on a patient's relationship with a therapist? Is digital technology more of an obstacle to or conversely a catalyst for that therapeutic relationship?
