  Uses, practices and experiences of digital sports

  Special issue International Journal of Sport Science and Physical Education

  The digitisation of sport involves the use of connected self-tracking devices and/or mobile training apps (such as Strava), which enable users to collect, store, view, process and, in some cases, share physical activity data such as time taken, distance covered, speed, heart rate, calories burned and GPS tracking. The widespread phenomenon of early distancing from digital sports devices seems to temper the promises made in the rhetoric of digital sport. This special issue aims to document the plurality and ambivalence of everyday uses of digitalisation (self-quantification and use of mobile applications) in sporting contexts.

  The study day Sharing Strangeness seeks to explore imaginary languages created within works of fiction (film, literature, television series, video games, etc.). Still relatively under-researched, these languages constitute linguistic, aesthetic, and cultural objects in their own right. Used to build fictional worlds, represent otherness, support narrative development, or foster audience engagement, they deserve closer scholarly attention. The event will welcome a wide range of contributions, from linguistic and semiotic analyses to reflections on the creation, reception, and social use of these languages.

  Body awareness: therapy - practice - pedagogy

  The theme of body awareness has been chosen for this conference, given the marked resurgence of interest in "reconnecting" with the body and sensations in our contemporary societies. We will concentrate on the different areas where body awareness offers new perspectives of practice and research, from healthcare to education, including the arts and sports. However, the increased visibility of this concept has also led to a proliferation of discourses and practices lacking any real conceptual or methodological foundation. These are often driven by the growing popularity of alternative or New Age approaches.The aim of this conference is to clarify the current situation by distinguishing between knowledge and practices that are supported by research and those that are not.

  Reflecting on the richness of poor cinemas around the world in the 21st century

  This symposium aims to put into global perspective the aesthetic and economic issues as well as the analysis of the creative and distribution processes that were at the heart of the study days devoted to low-budget cinema in France, which took place in 2024. Without romanticising the lack of resources, how can we define the theoretical, practical, political, economic and aesthetic contours of these ‘poor cinemas’ in a contemporary international context? What specific filmmaking processes ensure its existence? What original film forms emerge from it? What parallel distribution channels do these films require to be created and defended?

  Rural Issues in Africa: Challenges and Prospects

  Les questions rurales en Afrique sont complexes et multidimensionnelles. Elles touchent à la fois le développement économique, social et environnemental. Le continent africain, vaste et inégalement peuplé, a connu une forte croissance de sa population au cours des cinquante dernières années, lui permettant ainsi de combler progressivement son déficit démographique. Cette dynamique démographique exerce une pression croissante sur les ressources naturelles (eau, énergie, biomasse, foncier, etc.). Le colloque intitulé « Les questions rurales en Afrique : défis et perspectives », vise à offrir un espace de réflexion, de débat scientifique et d’échanges d’expériences entre chercheurs, décideurs, acteurs du développement et organisations de la société civile.

  Les habitants en assemblées (Europe, XIIe-XVIIIe siècle)

  Ce colloque international a pour but d’éclairer la place des assemblées d’habitants de la fin du Moyen Âge. À l’écart, en collaboration ou en opposition avec les gouvernements communaux, les assemblées d’habitants ont parfois été définies comme des lieux d’une « démocratie médiévale » en réunissant les chefs de famille d’un même lieu. Cette question permet d’aborder le rôle des assemblées au Moyen Âge et de la participation politique, et ainsi de renouveler notre compréhension des interactions entre gouvernement local et participation citoyenne médiévale. La dimension militaire de ces assemblées, de même que leur définition dans les textes juridiques et politiques pourront également être approfondies.

Ce dossier envisage de s’organiser autour de trois thèmes principaux qui s’articulent et qui ne s’excluent pas les uns les autres : les espaces du religieux, les acteurs du religieux, la circulation du religious. Les propositions peuvent s’inscrire dans tous les champs disciplinaires relevant des sciences humaines et sociales (y compris de la littérature et des arts).

  Paysages sentinelles et arts du refuge

  Sentinel Landscapes and the Arts of Refuge

  The interdisciplinary research field emerging from ecological humanities depicts a situation in which the ontology of our relationship with nature is being disrupted, altered by the intrusion of new entities and phenomena, and by the resulting change in human modes of perception and action. In particular, the distortions of scale and temporality implied by the notion of the Anthropocene – which are taking shape in the territories of the critical zone –, are eroding our entire relationship with the world. Numerous investigations have thus focused on the now inextricable intertwining of the geological and the historical, the non-human and the human. With regard to the already abundant literature on the Anthropocene, this conference aims to bring together studies, creations, and perspectives around the concept of the “sentinel landscape,” instructing a semiotics of low-noise catastrophe.

  Le travail im/mobile : circulations, dépendance et droits des travailleuses et travailleurs subalternes

  Revue « Sociologie du travail »

  This special issue of Sociologie du travail examines how subaltern workers are affected by im/mobility, understood as the multiple spatio-temporal assemblages that simultaneously constrain and delimit their movement and mobility practices. The aim is to rethink work as the product of a tension between the mobilisation of labour, the restriction of workers’ movements, and the agency of workers themselves. Mobility and its corollary, immobility, are thus conceived as a battlefield on which logics of coercion, control, mobilisation, and engagement confront and are reconfigured alongside the aspirations to autonomy of the most vulnerable workers.

  From America to France: Beaumarchais and the experience of Revolution

  In 2026, as the United States celebrates 250 years of independence and takes an increasing aggressive stance toward Europe, the Museum of the French Revolution – Domaine de Vizille and the LUHCIE laboratory at Grenoble Alpes University are organizing an international symposium aimed at rethinking the revolutionary origins of Franco-American relations through the figure and writings of Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (1732-1799). This reinterpretation has been made possible by the recent acquisition by the Bibliothèque nationale de France of Beaumarchais' voluminous personal archives, as well as by the unprecedented digital publication of his entire surviving correspondence and manuscripts, undertaken as part of the collective and interdisciplinary program @rchibeau (2024-2029).
