    Seminar - Sociology

    DATARights Seminar 2025

Access rights, Algorithmic transparency, and Data protection challenges

In the digital age, online platforms collect and exploit huge quantities of personal data, profoundly influencing social, economic and political dynamics. Yet their opaque operation limits access to the information essential for analyzing their mechanisms and measuring their impact. These infrastructures act like black boxes, making the study of their practices particularly complex. The DATARights seminar examines the right of access to personal data as a lever for transparency, particularly in the context of scientific research. Through several sessions in French and English, it will bring together researchers and experts from various disciplines to examine the concrete uses of this right, its limits and the challenges linked to its collective exercise in the face of algorithmic and data governance issues.

Nous souhaiterions marquer l’anniversaire de sa mort par un colloque commémorant son œuvre et se focalisant plus particulièrement sur son rapport aux pensées, aux littératures, et au champ intellectuel français.

Intermelodicity in the Caribbean Musical Repertoire

    Archipélies N° 20 – Décembre 2025

This issue of Archipélies offers a multidisciplinary, cross-disciplinary approach to the process of artistic creation, which often involves, consciously or unconsciously, borrowing, reworking, imitating, appropriating and re-appropriating. Where many will use plagiarism, others will see original works as a constant source of creative renewal. This is where the notion of intermixing comes in. If in literature we speak of intertextuality, in musicology we should use the term intermelodicity.

Architecture as a project for society: the teaching of Giancarlo De Carlo, twenty years after his death

The aim of the call (papers and posters) is to update and put into perspective the teaching of the architect Giancarlo De Carlo, twenty years after his death. By reconnecting with the roots of a way of thinking that closely links theory and practice, the aim is to situate De Carlo's contributions within the theoretical and methodological debates of his time and to place his legacy in the context of the debates and practices that question the evolution of architectural education and their links (or lack of links) with contemporary professional practices. The combination of these two objectives should make it possible to open up a more global debate on the development of architectural education in the face of global changes.

The Construction of Latin-American Historiography: An Inter-Cultural Dialogue

In the field of architecture and urban history, the issue of cultural transfers has become a significant theme in the discipline, discussing the artifact in the space —i. e., the architectural object or the urban fabric— considering different mediations, from the circulation of images or printed texts to the circulation of practitioners. Nevertheless, the same approach can be applied to the writing of history itself,. This call for papers does not discuss the artifact but intends to question Latin America’s architecture, urban and landscape historiographical operations that covered the long interval from the colonial period to the end of the 20th century.

Le commerce et ses représentations. L’activité marchande dans les arts et l’architecture aux XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles

Trade and its representations. commercial activity in art and architecture during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries

During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the many transformations and significant expansion of commercial activities led to the diversification of consumption and the expansion of commercial areas. These phenomena reflected improvements in transport conditions, better organisation of trade networks and the resources of capitalism. The images and literature related to the world of commerce diversified and transformed society’s perception of this practice and its players (pedlars, itinerant merchants, manufacturers, wholesalers, entrepreneurs, etc.). How do the representations of these places of professional sociability reflect these societal changes?
