The Diplomatic World in Paris, Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries: Cultures and Networks

    Sources held outside France

This one-day online research workshop is part of a program led by the Centre de recherche du château de Versailles (CRCV) devoted to the social, material, and cultural history of foreign diplomats in Paris during the early modern period (from the Treaties of Westphalia in 1648 to the end of the French Ancien Régime in 1792). The program aims to shift the focus toward the individuals who keep diplomacy running day to day, from ambassadors to secretaries, from nuncios to residents, without neglecting their entourages, wives, families, and domestic staff. Its objective is to examine their sociability, material and symbolic cultures, and the networks they weave within urban and courtly environments.

Cooperation: geopolitical scope and legal framework

The European University of Valencia is organising its 5th Global Congress on International Relations and International Law on 10 and 11 June 2026. In a world characterised by growing interdependence, cooperation between states and other international actors has become an indispensable element in addressing global challenges such as climate change, pandemics, international security, education and the protection of human rights. International law has evolved to incorporate this principle as the structuring axis of multiple legal regimes and institutional mechanisms.

Call for Researcher on the religious studies collections of the National and University Library of Strasbourg

How groups shape photography: groups, networks, collectives

The practice of photography, which arises from the encounter between an eye and a camera, is often perceived as an individual exercise. This monocular vision, indebted to the myth of the photographer’s genius, is exemplified by figures such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, known as “the eye of the century.” Beyond this mythification—often instrumental in the construction of Art History—, photography must now be reconsidered as a set of relational practices, shaped by dynamics of collaboration, exchange, and circulation of images, techniques, and knowledge. The aim of this conference is therefore to reassess both official and informal collective structures that have made photography possible.

Gender-Based Violence: Mixed and Intersectional Analysis of a Heterogeneous Phenomenon on the Rise

Gender based violence (GBV) has emerged as a multidimensional and increasingly heterogeneous field of inquiry, requiring renewed epistemological, theoretical, and methodological engagement across the social and human sciences. This interdisciplinary call for papers seeks contributions that critically interrogate the evolving configurations of GBV through mixed, intersectional, and context sensitive approaches. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and encouraging contributions grounded in robust theoretical frameworks and rigorous empirical inquiry, this call aims to advance scholarly understanding of GBV and to inform the development of more effective prevention strategies, institutional responses, and public policies.

    Deafnesses and Musical Experiences

    Revue « Intellectica »

Over the past several decades, a growing body of scientific research, artistic practices, and cultural initiatives related to music has sought to explore new perceptual dimensions of the art of sound, grounded in a multisensory experience, encouraging a redefinition of its conventional understanding as an art primarily situated within the audible realm. In this context, the relationship between musics and deafnesses – expressed in the plural to encompass the diverse categorizations and realities – reveals a particularly rich and dynamic field of research and artistic experimentation.

Reporting in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Truth, Ethics, and Responsibility

Towards an Ethical Charter for Artificial Intelligence in Journalism in Cameroon

Around the world, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing media practices. This technological shift is both an unprecedented opportunity and ethical challenge. This call for contributions aims, through a pluralistic and collaborative approach, to foster dialogue between AI and journalism in order to analyze this complex relationship. Beyond examining how it transforms the modes of information, production and consumption, the goal is to question the normative and institutional frameworks that attempt to manage its implications.

    Our brother Dante

    Dante contemporaneo nella World Literature

Nell’ambito del progetto Dante World Writer ?

Economic Regulation and Informal Economies in the Medieval and Early Modern Periods

In response to the global environmental crisis and the aporias of sustainable development, the concept of transition has spread as a central paradigm of public policy, despite –or perhaps because of– its vagueness and its instability depending on how it is used by a wide variety of actors. While transitions are often thought of in a sectoral and segmented manner, the territory has emerged as an integrative framework that promises to synchronise sectoral dynamics, stakeholder interactions and highly diverse scalar logics, enabling THE transition to take shape from multiple transitions.

Artificial Intelligence: From Militarization to Peacebuilding

    “Communications” Journal (2028)

The journal Communications is launching a call for papers for a special issue on alternative approaches to artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on peacebuilding and breaking away from the militarization and surveillance logics associated with AI, robotics, and automation. As a dual-use technology with both civilian and military applications, AI is shaped by the military-industrial complex. Contributions will seek to analyze geopolitical, epistemic, and economic power relations, while advancing social justice and sustainability. The call encourages an interdisciplinary approach, including philosophy, sociology, history, STS, anthropology, political science, political economy, and humanities.

    Art, mediation or intercultural counter-mediation

Essays presented to Professor Ngetcham of the University of Dschang

Art is a form of cultural expression and a mode of mass communication. Through their works and their strong transcultural audience, artists have the ability to build bridges between different cultural communities, where ignorance and political or economic power struggles tend to build barriers. Unfortunately, artists also have the ability to reinforce existing barriers when they lack the intercultural skills needed to step outside their own perspective and immerse themselves in the conceptual frameworks of others. It is this view of art as an activity that straddles intercultural mediation and counter-mediation that should be highlighted here, in a global context marked by a strong resurgence of nationalism and intercultural or inter-ethnic conflicts.

    Lecture series - America

Cycle of conferences on post-colonial studies from Latin America

This first edition of the Conference Series on Postcolonial Studies from Latin America — conducted in collaboration with the Department of Languages — arose from a particular concern: what does it mean to engage with Latin American thought from France? In an article that also serves as a statement of position, historian Serge Gruzinski attempts to answer this question: France is a place where it is possible to seek a new conception of the relationship between Europe and America, far from the reductions that certain intellectual traditions—notably American postcolonial studies—have made of Latin America.

Environmental Economics and Dynamics of Fair and Sustainable Development

    Challenges, Instruments and Perspectives

Countries such as Morocco and Senegal have embarked on ambitious transitions through their national sustainable development strategies, but they face a funding gap that limits their adaptive capacity. At the same time, the traditional ecological knowledge of indigenous communities—rooted in centuries of experience in ecosystem management—represents a valuable heritage for developing resilience models tailored to local contexts. It is within this framework that an international congress will bring together researchers, experts, and local stakeholders to identify economic and financial tools capable of supporting a just and balanced transition for Africa.
