  Les pèlerinages sur le front occidental de la première guerre mondiale

  De la fin de la guerre aux pratiques contemporaines

  Dès la guerre, des dizaines de milliers d’anciens combattants, de familles de défunts et de délégations officielles ont entrepris des pèlerinages sur les champs de bataille à la recherche de proches disparus dans un vaste mouvement d’hommage collectif ou individuel sans précédent dans l’histoire. Les pèlerinages, dans leurs spécificités, se poursuivent aujourd’hui vers des sites faisant l’objet d’aménagements renouvelés depuis les commémorations du centenaire, tels que les vestiges des champs de bataille, les ruines, les cimetières, les mémoriaux. Les nouveaux pèlerins (re)découvrent les paysages, l’histoire de ces sites et les multiples conséquences de la guerre, pour les territoires comme leurs habitants.

  Levinas and the anarchy of the Good Readings of “Humanism of the Other Man”

  Published in 1972, Humanism of the Other Man corresponds to the period of full maturity of Levinas’ thought, after the breakthrough of Totality and Infinity. It consists in three papers: “Significance and Meaning” (1964), “Humanism and Anarchy” (1968) and “Without Identity” (1970). In them, Levinas affirms his desire to reclaim humanism, against the general trend of French philosophy, but in full knowledge of the difficulties that this would involve. He promotes a “new humanism”, a new conception of culture and meaning, of time and subjectivity.

  Strangers and foreigners: hospitality and hostility in Britain, France, and Germany, 1680-1850

  The ongoing wars and migrations have foregrounded the issue of the hosting of migrants and the duty of hospitality. This international Early career symposium aims to explore the relationship to foreigners in Germanophone areas, France and Britain (including colonial spaces) from the revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685), which provoked international migrations of Protestant refugees, to the revolutions of 1848, which were characterized both by internationalist fervour and by political exiles.

Are the categories of commitment or disengagement relevant to understanding young people’s relationships with the school institution, work and family? What links are forged between different forms and spheres of youth engagement? How do geographical and historical contexts and societal frameworks influence them? Can we observe new modalities, new spaces and specific vectors of commitment or forms of “demobilisation” - or even non-commitment - among young people?

  The theme of this edition of International Symposium for Young Researchers in Tourism (RIJCT) aims at critically questioning the relationships between innovation, tourism, powers and territories. The proposed axes of reflection seek to analyse the multiple facets of the political dimension of innovation in tourism in relation to space: institutional issues and territorial governance, discourses and representations, socio-spatial power relations, the hierarchy between territories and the production of research on the subject.   This project aims to stimulate reflection on post-revolutionary monarchical regimes by examining the way in which they authorised or encouraged popular participation in the defence of order through irregular militias. The choice of this object of enquiry lies at the crossroads of two themes that have been fertile grounds for research in recent years, the history of contemporary monarchies and that of popular participation in the maintenance of order.   Séminaire francophone du congrès annuel du Groupe européen d’administration publique

  Face aux contextes de crises et à la croissance des besoins, les services publics se trouvent confrontés à des contraintes budgétaires certes, mais aussi sur les ressources naturelles et l’énergie et sur les compétences et l’endurance physique et morale des agents. Des appels à la préservation de services « vitaux », « essentiels », « de première ligne » se font entendre. Mais quelle en est la substance et la nouveauté ? Peut-on comparer les intentions politiques actuelles avec des réformes administratives passées ? Comment les tendances managériales actuelles – gouvernance collaborative, aplatissement des structures, digitalisation des services, notamment – influencent-elles l’action publique ? Enfin et surtout, quelle serait la soutenabilité dans la durée des solutions proposées ? La pénurie des ressources est-elle une barrière ou un facteur de résilience ? Ou pourraient-elles, a contrario, engendrer des effets négatifs : détérioration des services, abandons de mission, effets régressifs sur les citoyens les plus pauvres ou fragiles et les plus dépendants des services publics ?

  Prefects in the war (France / Europe 1914-1918)

  Le comité d’histoire de l’Institut des Hautes Études du Ministère de l’Intérieur (IHEMI) organisera son prochain colloque sur le thème « Les préfets dans la première guerre mondiale ». L’appel à contribution propose une analyse des pratiques et du travail des préfets et de leur administration pendant la première guerre mondiale ; des relations entretenues avec les autorités militaires, les élus locaux mais aussi les administrés ; des modalités suivant lesquelles les préfets ont vécu et ressenti le conflit. La perspective est ici de comprendre ce que la guerre fait à l’État en faisant le pari que l’observation à l’échelle locale permet de mieux saisir les formes plurielles de l’État en guerre ainsi que l’engagement des hauts fonctionnaires dans le conflit.

  To celebrate the Mines in the movies exhibition, the Centre Historique Minier has sought to open up this issue to other coal-mining areas, as it has grown accustomed to doing when addressing themes at the heart of mining culture, for an international symposium. In the contemporary era, mining has formed the subject of numerous artistic performances, particu-larly in the fields of writing and literature (mine novel, testimony, poetry, comic strip …), on the one hand, as well as in the world of cinema and audiovisual arts (fiction, documentary, animated film …). These representations have served as a place of artistic innovation, as well as a medium for mass culture (which developed alongside the mining industry), to such an extent that veritable sub-genres (the mine novel, the mine film) have been created, each with their own archetypes.

  Classifying, Counting, Modeling: What Contribution to Holocaust History?

  This conference aims to bring together international researchers in Paris for two days (May 15^th-16^th, 2024). The conference will be organized around three main themes that will examine the history of how the Holocaust, persecution, and extermination have been measured: 1/ the history of numbers, which will question the practical production of statistics and counts contributing to the ordinary and scientific understanding of the Holocaust; 2/ the uses and controversies surrounding the measurement of the Holocaust; and 3/ the contributions and limits of methods for collecting and analyzing quantitative material for understanding the Holocaust.
