L’école d’été internationale relative à « L’esprit de la démocratie » propose aux étudiant·e·s (niveau Master, Doctorat, Post-doctorat) et aux professionnels une formation de haut niveau sur les débats et enjeux qui traversent le fonctionnement et la réforme des institutions démocratiques, tant à l’échelle locale que nationale ou transnationale. Ce projet d’ecole d’été internationale s’inscrit pleinement dans les réflexions contemporaines sur les transformations ou les métamorphoses profondes du gouvernement démocratique de nos sociétés complexes.

Le but principal de cette école est de contribuer à relancer un investissement de la science politique dans l'analyse du rapport entre l'économie et la politique et ceci notamment en s'appuyant sur un réseau de doctorants et de jeunes chercheurs qui vient d'être constitué à l'échelle bordelaise et nationale. Forcément internationale et comparative, l'objet scientifique de cette école d'été permettra également de resserrer les liens entre des politistes et des économistes bordelais, ainsi que de générer des moments de restitution des résultats de recherche aux praticiens intéressés et au grand public.

Summer university of the Bibliothèque Kandinsky, Centre Pompidou
L’Université d'été de la Bibliothèque Kandinsky est un programme du Musée national d’art moderne – Centre Pompidou qui se déroule dans l’espace public de présentation des collections permanentes. Elle a pour objet les sources de l’art moderne et contemporain : archives, documentation écrite, photographique ou filmique, témoignages, mais aussi d’autres formes d’appropriation artistique et de production documentaire. Format interdisciplinaire, l’Université d'été de la Bibliothèque Kandinsky réunit des jeunes chercheurs : historiens et historiens de l’art, anthropologues et sociologues, artistes, critiques, commissaires d’expositions, qui s’engagent pendant dix jours dans un travail collectif sur les sources avec des professionnels de l’art et des universitaires.

Le CESCM organise depuis 1954 une session annuelle internationale de formation qui regroupe une quarantaine d’étudiants, doctorants et jeunes chercheurs, français et étrangers. Les conférences, les séances de travail autour des ressources documentaires, les excursions et visites au programme des stagiaires sont proposées par des spécialistes du Moyen Âge venus du monde entier. Cette manifestation interdisciplinaire francophone, unique en son genre, a contribué à construire et à renforcer, depuis une cinquantaine d’année, un solide réseau national et international dans le domaine de l’étude du Moyen Âge.

Elle réunira une trentaine de participants issus du réseau mondial des centres d’études allemandes et européennes du DAAD. Le programme sera conçu de manière assez large pour ouvrir le dialogue entre représentants de différentes disciplines et de différentes aires culturelles. Cette rencontre représente l’occasion de faire connaître son travail à un public de chercheurs et d’experts spécialisés dans différents domaine en s’insérant dans un réseau réellement international. En collaboration avec le Willy Brandt Centrum de Wroclaw, la Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität de Münich (Graduiertenschule für Osteuropäische Studien) et la Maison Heinrich Heine.

Museum experiences and the development of communities in Brazil and Quebec
Les sociétés du Brésil et du Québec sont toutes deux régies par des valeurs politiques qui font appel aux notions de tolérance et de diversité. Or, ces notions ont rarement été mises de l’avant par les institutions muséales, préférant consacrer une mémoire sociale représentative des groupes numériquement plus importants et laissant dans l’ombre des groupes entiers, comme si ces derniers n’étaient point détenteurs d’une mémoire qui leur soit propre. À cela s’ajoute la difficulté pour les groupes qui se situent davantage en marge de la société d’avoir un accès à des ressources et des équipements culturels qui leur permettraient de mettre en valeur par eux-mêmes leur mémoire sociale. Différentes thématiques appliquées autant au Brésil qu’au Québec seront abordées par des chercheurs et des professionnels brésiliens et québécois à partir des expériences culturelles et muséales qu’ils mènent en collaboration avec des communautés.

The "Face" of First World War Battlefields and Battles
The centenary in 2016 of the two iconic battles of the First World War – Verdun and the Somme – leads us to reconsider battles and battlefields in the historiography of the First World War. Since John Keegan’s pioneering Face of Battle (1976), generations of historians have expanded our understanding of the experience of combat, as well as our knowledge of the literary and artistic representations of the battlefield. The way we think about the legacy of battles in the memory of the First World War around the world, too, has changed. Our week in Verdun and Péronne will not only give us time to reflect on the current state of research on the battles of the First World War and discover the most recent advancements in battlefield archeology and environmental history of warfare, but also confront these readings with on-the-ground visits to the sites studied.

Il ne s'agit plus d'extraire les observations ou connaissances du citoyen afin d'alimenter la base de données du chercheur, mais bien de co-construire avec le citoyen des projets de recherche adaptés dont le déroulé sera caractérisé par une collaboration permanente aboutissant à une meilleure compréhension des phénomènes et à l'élaboration conjointe de solutions, condition pour une acceptation sociétale efficace.

New perspectives in the philosophy of biology

The scientific domain of the summer school is philosophy of biology. After having mostly focused for several decades on evolutionary biology, philosophy of biology has recently shown an increasing interest for issues coming from other biological disciplines, in particular molecular biology. Today, philosophy of biology must widen its scope, and include the new research domains that are emerging in the Life Sciences: it must deal with the philosophical and epistemological challenges and problems originated by those domains, and thereby profoundly renew the object of its reflection. As a matter of fact, we witness today the emergence of a number of new research domains as, in particular, molecular epigenetics, metagenomics, systems biology and synthetic biology.

From risk to resilience, from past to present: critical perspectives and comparative approaches
2016 Summer School of the Cluster of Excellence Territorial and Spatial Dynamics (LabEx DynamiTe)
This Summer School will give precedence to exploratory work that does not take the concept of resilience for granted but rather examines the social and historical conditions of its use by the scientific community. Thus, a constant dialogue between past and present case studies shall be offered, involving geographers, sociologists, historians and archeologists. By comparing sites distant in both time and space, common mechanisms that lead to system resilience or on the contrary to major qualitative system reorganizations can be identified.

L'Institut d'histoire du livre organise chaque année à Lyon une école d'été dont l'objectif est de promouvoir la diffusion des savoirs spécifiques au monde du patrimoine écrit.
