  Current State of Haitian Migration

  Études caribéennes N° 61, 2025

  In Haiti, the migration issue is a key structural factor in understanding the realities of this society. Since the country’s first occupation by the United States in 1915, national life has been punctuated by the massive displacement of Haitians, making it a country of emigration. From 1915 to the post-2010 years, marked by the January 12 earthquake, the country experienced at least six major waves of migration. Starting from these considerations as a powerful factor of expulsion, there is an invitation to take stock of a century and more of Haitian emigration.

  Special Issue of “Sport History Review”

  The general idea behind this special issue for the Sport History Review is to bring together an international team of some thirty renowned researchers within the field of sports history and a team of directors, curators, lecturers, resident experts and public program coordinators, etc., from the Alpes-Maritimes museums (Musée Léger, Musée National Marc Chagall and Chapelle Picasso) specializing in Fernand Léger’s work, in order to produce new, scientific knowledge based on both a thematic approach by sports category and a more cross-disciplinary approach. The major series of works produced by Fernand Léger between 1903 and 1955 constitute the corpus of this collective research project.

  The ‘Mettre en scène l’Apocalypse’ research project has been conceived in two phases - a workshop in spring 2025 followed by a colloquium in summer 2026 - with the aim of reviewing our knowledge of the Angers Apocalypse tapestry and proposing a comprehensive and renewed study of the work and its functions. By bringing together specialists from different fields of research who have worked on other objects or other themes, the aim is to analyse the functions of this object and the discourse it was used to support in a fresh and collective way. In this respect, all proposals for comparisons are welcome.

  Queering the Archive - Queering the Exhibition

  Our symposium wish to focus on alternative practices relating minority collections, memories and heritages. It is about to consider ways of challenging the dominant norms in terms of heritage constitution, exhibition and the narratives they contribute to impose. Taking into account the diversities of gender and sexuality, as well as their intersections with other registers of discrimination, the queer field of thought plays a full part in this contestation. We therefore invite the contributors to the symposium to explore what the possibility of a ‘queer agency’ might mean, of an openness to ‘the object that slips away’ (Sara Ahmed) for this set of practices that accompany archives and collections. Following Jennifer Tybuczy, we want to ‘call for, describe, and enact queer display praxis’. We encourage contributions from all fields of human sciences and archival, curatorial and artistic practices. Our aim is to fertilise a multidisciplinary and diachronic approach to the addressed themes.

  Misopaedia refers to the hatred of children (in the same way that misogyny refers to the hatred of women). A first-ever international and transdisciplinary colloquium was held in October 2024 at the University of Limoges. The aim is to continue this movement with a second part of the colloquium around adult or adultist domination and discrimination of children. Not only from a legal and psychological point of view, but also through various fictional representations which we know to be of vital importance in shaping individual and collective visions. This will hopefully contribute to changing behaviors towards the youngest members of our society.
