Cet évènement entend réunir des chercheuses et chercheurs en sciences environnementales, sciences humaines, arts et littératures, mais aussi des artistes et des activistes pour aborder la question des extractivismes contemporains et la manière dont les arts et les littératures y participent, en rendent compte ou les combattent.

Minority Uses of the Past and Dynamics of Power in the Americas (19th–21st Centuries)
This conference follows on from an initial meeting, which focused on the forms of uses of the past, to examine the consequences of these uses and their results, both on national history and on minorities, as well as on disciplines and their methods. Researchers from different disciplines are invited to reflect on the same subjects from the perspective of their methods: anthropologists, sociologists, geographers, historians, specialists in literary studies, cultural studies, art historians, and linguists. The following four themes may guide proposals for papers.

Arts and Literature in Latin America in the 21st Century: A Crossroads?

Following the colloquium held in Rennes, France, on October 9 and 10, to celebrate the magazine's fifteenth anniversary and as we approach the end of the first quarter of the 21st century, we would like to explore how contemporary Latin American imaginaries (primarily through literary and artistic production) contextualize not only belonging to specific territories but also the place these territories occupy in an increasingly globalized cultural universe.

L’objectif est de faire un état des recherches sur les évolutions des représentations et des imaginaires d’identité et d’altérité sur/dans les Amériques, ainsi qu’aux enjeux de pouvoir qu’ils portent, à travers les pratiques et productions artistiques et culturelles et de poser les bases pour la création d’un réseau international de recherche dans la matière. La réflexion sur les contenus sera indissociable d’une réflexion sur les formes et les conventions narratives et esthétiques en tant qu’« instruments cognitifs » qui véhiculent une adhésion ou une critique au paradigme colonial de la connaissance et du pouvoir occidental.

Résiliences, écologie et plurivers : dialogues entre savoirs, sciences et création (REPLU)
Ce colloque propose d’interroger les dialogues entre savoirs autochtones, sciences humaines, différentes approches scientifiques et pratiques artistiques et littéraires, dans une perspective décoloniale et pluriverselle. Inspiré par les théories du More-than-Human Turn et par les réflexions autour des Pluriversalist Revolutions — entendues comme des pratiques auto-poétiques de recherche-création entre arts performatifs et [contre-] anthropologies —, il s’agira de réfléchir aux manières dont les savoirs situés, les cosmologies locales et les formes esthétiques participent à la construction d’alternatives au paradigme extractiviste dominant.

Economy of leftovers and recycling
Social, political and environmental dynamics in the Global South
Economies built around waste – rubbish, unsold goods, surplus, scrap, used materials – are becoming increasingly important in the Global South. This issue therefore aims to examine these forms of economic activity from three main perspectives: environmental, socio-economic and political. The objective is to bring together empirical and theoretical work that documents, compares and problematises these waste economies based on surveys conducted in Southern countries, while taking into account the circulation and cross-influences with Northern countries. These ‘waste products’ can take various forms, which the issue intends to consider in an open and pluralistic perspective.

Interculturality, Diversity and Inclusion
Contemporary Issues in Societies and Businesses in the Americas
L’objectif de cette rencontre est d’analyser l’interculturalité, la diversité et l’nclusion tant dans les sociétés que dans les entreprises de différents pays du continent américain. Il s’agit d’une activité qui comprendra des communications sur des pays tels que les États-Unis, Haïti, la Jamaïque, le Mexique, le Costa Rica, l’Équateur et l’Argentine. Outre le questionnement sur ces nouvelles et possibles instances inclusives, les différences culturelles, sociales et de genre ainsi que les transformations de la société dans de nombreux pays, ont conduit à une réflexion et à des propositions sur la possibilité de construire de nouvelles citoyennetés inclusives et diverses.

Depuis le début du 21ème siècle, les Amériques connaissent un moment mémoriel particulièrement investi par les groupes dont l’histoire a été invisibilisée. Ils portent, dans l’espace public, contestations, demandes de reconnaissance, voire de réparation. Ce colloque engage une réflexion sur les usages du passé lorsqu’ils sont mobilisés par des membres de minorités ethnoraciales, qu’il s’agisse de contester une histoire nationale, de chercher à s’y inclure ou d’écrire une histoire de la minorité.

This issue of Terrain proposes to explore forms of accidentality that lie outside industrial and insurance-based norms of the “risk society.” Through ethnographic, historical, or documentary inquiries, the aim is to approach the accident as a lens revealing social tensions, material imbalances, technical arrangements, or subterranean affects. Far from being a mere rupture, the accident here becomes a heuristic operator—a revelator of world orders.

Au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, un élan démocratique se fait jour en Amérique latine. Il s’exprime au travers d’élections, mais se manifeste aussi dans des mouvements sociaux ou des révoltes. En lien avec les tensions générées par la guerre froide qui favorisent les coups d’État dans différents pays, des dictatures se mettent toutefois en place dès les années 60. Trouvant leur justification dans la doctrine de la « sécurité nationale », ces dictatures sont fondées sur le contrôle social, la persécution politique et l’usage massif d’une violence étatique. Mais des stratégies de résistance se développent, variables selon les contextes politiques et socio-économiques des pays. Quelles mémoires, artistiques et narratives, découlent de ces événements ?

“Community Healthcare” in the Americas: (dis)continuities and reappropriations
Revue « IdeAs » n°28 (automne 2026)
Community health, which refers to a set of practices and intervention models grounded in social participation and a promotional-preventive approach, began to emerge during the 1960s as an alternative way of delivering healthcare. The American continent was one of the incubators of this approach, drawing on liberation theology and popular education movements in Latin America, the Free Clinics and the Neighborhood Health Clinics in the United States, and the interaction between popular movements and the State during Quebec’s Quiet Revolution. This issue of the journal IdeAs proposes a continental approach to community health.

En s’appuyant sur une approche comparative et interdisciplinaire, elle vise à analyser les dynamiques de transferts, d’appropriations et de résistances dans les domaines politique, littéraire, artistique, scientifique et urbain, tout en mettant en lumière les figures et les espaces de médiation qui ont structuré ces échanges transatlantiques.

In 2015, the first conference dedicated to decolonial studies was held at Lumière University Lyon 2. Ten years ago, decolonial studies, born in South America, were little known in France. The Toulouse conference, to be held in October 2025, aims to take stock, ten years later, of decolonial studies in European, American, and African spaces (Francophone, Lusophone, and Anglophone).

La surprise dans les mondes hispaniques
D’après Natalie Depraz, la surprise est un système dynamique qui ne peut se limiter à son seul objet puisqu’il met en œuvre un processus qui commence par un horizon d’attente, culmine dans un moment de décalage pendant lequel s’ouvre une brèche, puis laisse place aux conséquences de cette irruption. La surprise est ainsi indissociable de l’attente, qu’elle « déçoit », déborde, trompe. D’une certaine façon, la surprise est l’échec de notre anticipation. Elle est alors liée à la notion de hasard ; elle est ce moment, de « bon-heur » ou de « mal-heur », un seuil inattendu. Il s'agit d'explorer ce processus dans les divers champs culturels des mondes hispaniques : en histoire, en littérature, en langue, en arts visuels.
