  The Middle East and Europe: cross-cultural, diplomatic and economic exchanges in the early modern period (1500-1820)

  This conference is an international symposium that proposes to study the entire range of exchanges and relations established between these two areas during the Early Modern Times (1500-1820). Its main objective is to think about diplomatic, economic, religious and cultural links between Europe and the Middle East by calling upon over twenty researchers with specializations in the Arab, Persian and Muslim world. In addition, this conference will provide a comprehensive overview to date of the Arabian Gulf at a time of major political change, including the successive arrival of the European “trading empires”. It will focus on some of the methodological challenges raised by a global, connected and cross-cultural thinking approach to the History of the Middle East and Europe”.

  XXe conférence annuelle du programme « Partenariat avec les universités dans le domaine de la recherche et du développement en matière douanière » (PICARD)

  The World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Azerbaijan Customs are pleased to announce the 10th annual WCO PICARD conference. The conference will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 8 to 10 September 2015. Papers should focus on Customs or, more globally, the regulation, dynamics, and practices of the international trade of goods. The WCO encourages attendance and paper submissions from anthropologists, economists, geographers, historians, lawyers, and political scientists. The WCO is particularly interested in interdisciplinary approaches regarding contemporary systems of regulation and control at borders.

  Territoire et économie des populations des confins des empires hellénistique et romain

  IIe Conférence internationale multidisciplinaire à wādī Ramm

  Une première conférence internationale multidisciplinaire s’est déroulée du 11 au 13 novembre 2011 à Wādī Ramm et a été l’occasion de faire le point sur les avancées scientifiques sur la région. La deuxième édition de la conférence internationale multidisciplinaire à Wādī Ramm se tiendra au Visitor Center de Wādī Ramm les 12, 13 et 14 novembre 2013. La nouvelle édition de la conférence sera consacrée à l’étude des territoires et à l’économie dans la Nabatène. La problématique de l’eau, particulièrement présente dans la région, est au cœur du colloque. Ce sera l’occasion de comparer ce qui a pu être fait au fil de l’histoire à Wādī Ramm mais également avec d’autres régions du monde.

In collaboration with the UNESCO Chair "Safeguarding and Promotion of Cultural Food Heritages" (University François-Rabelais of Tours, France).This conference aims to :1. look at the politics of foodways and heritage, 2. investigate how different kinds of food are produced, sustained and inherited, 3. investigate how they are preserved as intangible heritage for various reasons.

  Nous souhaitons comprendre comment une ville comme Alep est fabriquée et transformée par ses fonctionnements au quotidien et par l’intervention de mécanismes et de principes d’aménagement et de contrôle, dans son architecture, ses espaces, et dans les liens et les interactions qui la structurent. Nous nous intéressons aussi à sa zone d’influence et d’activité directe, qui constitue une partie de la Syrie : l’identité alépine est un élément de l’identité nationale dans un État-nation en cours d’élaboration. Nous nous intéressons enfin à son réseau d’interaction économique et culturelle à plus longue distance.
