  L'archivage numérique dans le monde arabe

  Digital archiving in the Arab world acts as a major channel of knowledge transmission in the present day. As the practice grows, new archival challenges emerge and act as a catalyst for innovation and development of new technologies. The International Digital Archiving Conference in the Arab World is to be held in Abu Dhabi, October 26-27, 2019. It is the first Digital Archiving conference to be organized by the CEDEJ, Egypt (Centre d’études et de documentation économiques, juridiques et sociales) in collaboration with Bibliotheca Alexandrina and CEFAS (Centre français d’archéologie et de sciences sociales). The conference’s aim is to provide an exploratory gateway of the fast-growing interdisciplinaryfield of digital archiving in the Arab world.

  The Middle East and Europe: cross-cultural, diplomatic and economic exchanges in the early modern period (1500-1820)

  This conference is an international symposium that proposes to study the entire range of exchanges and relations established between these two areas during the Early Modern Times (1500-1820). Its main objective is to think about diplomatic, economic, religious and cultural links between Europe and the Middle East by calling upon over twenty researchers with specializations in the Arab, Persian and Muslim world. In addition, this conference will provide a comprehensive overview to date of the Arabian Gulf at a time of major political change, including the successive arrival of the European “trading empires”. It will focus on some of the methodological challenges raised by a global, connected and cross-cultural thinking approach to the History of the Middle East and Europe”.

  Les héritages culturels dans l'urbanisme et l'architecture au XXIe siècle

  Projets urbains, architecture et identités culturelles en Europe, Afrique du Nord, au Moyen-Orient et en Asie

  Certains projets d’urbanisme intègrent les éléments de la mondialisation des échanges et des cultures. Ils se veulent, d’une certaine manière, tous des « ponts entre les civilisations ». Ils s’inspirent de formes plus ou moins abstraites, en adéquation ou en totale rupture avec les cultures nationales ou régionales traditionnelles. Comment ces projets intègrent-ils le patrimoine urbanistique et architectural ancien ? Dans quelle mesure les similitudes et les convergences entre l’Europe, l’Afrique du Nord, le Moyen-Orient et l’Asie révèlent-elles une cohérence géographique et architecturale dans la valorisation des identités passées ?
