This is the call for papers for the 9th midterm conference of the European Sociological Association’s Sociology of Emotions Research Network (RN11). This year the midterm will be organized jointly with the Catalan Sociological Association in Barcelona. As in previous years, we will give serious consideration to all high quality abstracts on any emotion-highlighting topic. At the same time we would like to offer several focal areas of investigation in which abstracts are particularly welcome.

Si le tourisme est un phénomène moderne, le tourisme spirituel se pose comme une mutation post-moderne et plurielle de la pratique du pèlerinage vers les lieux sacrés. Pèlerins et touristes partagent les mêmes exigences concernant la disponibilité de structures, infrastructures et services. Toutefois, les motivations qui les poussent à entamer le voyage dont la connotation est spirituelle peuvent être profondément différentes, comme sont différents les moyens de transport utilisés pour atteindre la destination. Une mobilité spirituelle non seulement amplifie le registre du sacré, mais ouvre aussi à l’immanence au point de pouvoir analyser cette pratique dans le domaine des loisirs spirituels.

XXXVe congrès de la Société internationale de sociologie des religions (SISR) - Session thématique

Les petites nations d’Europe centrale et orientale ont fait l’objet d’une attention soutenue des chercheurs qui s’intéressent aux relations entre la religion et le politique. Inspirées des cas-types d’Europe de l’Ouest, plusieurs de ces recherches ont vu « à l’Est » un « nationalisme religieux » de facture « ethnique », tendanciellement « anti-moderne » voire « régressif ». Elles ont souvent expliqué de l’« extérieur » les petites nations, en fonction de leur écart à l’idéal-type moderne de l’État-nation civique et sécularisé. Cette session thématique bilingue, organisée dans le cadre du congrès 2019 de la Société internationale de sociologie des religions (SISR - 9 au 12 juillet 2019 - Barcelone), se propose de contribuer à comprendre de l’« intérieur » les relations d’hier et d’aujourd’hui entre la religion et le politique au sein des petites nations.

El patrimonio alimentario, como el «patrimonio» en general, ha sido considerado tanto como una construcción socio-cultural, con capacidad para representar simbólicamente una identidad, como una industria de valores añadidos. Por parte de numerosos gobiernos, estatales o regionales, existe una voluntad de conocer el patrimonio alimentario de las poblaciones con el propósito de proponer políticas de fomento productivo y de iniciar procesos de desarrollo local mediante la valorización de los productos y cocinas locales. Las gastronomías locales forman parte, cada vez más, de los recursos susceptibles de ser explotados por parte de la oferta turística. Turismo y restauración no solamente contribuyen a la valoración de la cocina tradicional y a su posible recuperación si no, también, a su transformación y redefinición, bajo parámetros diversos y, a veces, contradictorios: por un lado, «selección», «reducción» y «simplificación» de aquellos platos y productos considerados representativos; y por otro, «idealización», «replicación» y generalización...

So far, comparative research on immigrants’ descendants and on migrants focus more on the comparison of cross-sectional indicators and on the degree of inequalities on those outcomes in education and the labor market. We invite submissions of papers tackling questions related to the analysis of the trajectories of immigrants' descendants and/or young migrants on the labour market. The contributions might use qualitative or quantitative data but we especially welcome contributions based on a mixed methods design or on longitudinal (retrospective or panel) data. International or regional comparative studies are also welcome.

Euro-African memories: Colonial and postcolonial Spanish legacies in Morocco and Equatorial Guinea

Despite the fact that there were significant differences between Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean colonisation, it is clear that a series of socio-cultural, linguistic and evangelising practices of Spanish colonialism did leave an imprint on these two countries as did other European colonial experiences. First of all, we know for a fact that socio-cultural policies created two separate legal frameworks (one for colonists and one for the autochthonous population), but we do not know exactly how most of the everyday conflicts and tensions that used to arise between the two groups were solved. Second, other practices that were carried out as part of the colonists' hispanicisation language policies lingered in Morocco and took root in Equatorial Guinea, eventually leading to unequal management in both territories.

Nuestra propuesta de sesión para Latin American Studies Association (LASA) 2018 se propone crear un espacio de contacto y diálogo entre investigaciones que aborden desde una perspectiva etnográfico-antropológica o micro-histórica las realidades urbanas en el área andina, evidenciando cómo el estudio de la vida cotidiana, de las prácticas de memoria popular, y las lógicas de creación de subjetividades subalternas permiten considerar de manera diferente el fenómeno urbano, a través de sus múltiples variaciones.

How can an object and its materiality be defined? Which are the relationships and/or bonds that link individuals to objects? Which are meanings and values that should be considered in an object that is stripped from its context? How can it be described, replaced and represented in its natural environment (if it exists)? Are there limits to said representations? For the next issue, Forma. Revista d'Estudis Comparatius joins the project put forward by the collective “Jeune chercheurs de TELEMMe” for the preparation of their annual study conferences about the "object" in the Humanities and the Social Sciences.

Dans la lignée des réflexions menées lors de la XII^e journée Realiter de Santiago, axée sur la normalisation linguistique, la journée 2017 propose d’approfondir l’analyse des opportunités et des tensions dues à la convergence des objectifs de la normalisation linguistique et de l’internationalisation, de réfléchir à l’impact de cette dynamique sur les demandes linguistiques des organismes et des universités dans lesquels travaillent la plupart des membres du Réseau, ainsi qu’aux solutions apportées aux nouvelles priorités. Dans cette perspective, on mettra l’accent sur les changements et les possibilités d’innovation en matière de méthodologie et de pratiques terminologiques, sur les ressources mises au point et, en particulier, sur les profils des professionnels en terminologie déjà formés et en formation.

The Transatlantic Embrace: Spanish Civil War in America’s Intimate Distance

Spanish Civil War has been studied under its multiple angles. This can also be said about the literature concerning this topic: novels, poems, and all literary forms generated by this armed conflict (both by Spanish and foreign intellectuals) have been commented by academic criticism from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. However, fewer approaches have set the axis of their critical focus on the importance of the Spanish conflict in America and its decisive relevance as a part of a phenomenon that is also American. This special number of the FORMA journal sets out to give a voice to all types of contributions able to shed a new light on this fundamental aspect of the war, whose causes and consequences are clearly rooted in Spain, but whose horizon overflows the peninsular and continental borders and requires an inevitably transatlantic point of view.

La predicación es un tema particularmente propicio para el análisis de las interacciones entre las sociedades del Mediterráneo y de Europa, sobre todo en la época premoderna y su investigación resulta idónea para trascender ciertos tópicos historiográficos. ¿Cómo definir el papel de los predicadores cristianos, judíos y musulmanes en la construcción, la transmisión y la difusión de conceptos sobre la identidad y la alteridad religiosa, cultural y política o las distinciones? ¿Cuáles son las estrategias retóricas, narrativas u otras que se emplearon? ¿Puede calificarse la predicación en la Edad Media como práctica transcultural? Se trata de definir el papel desempeñado por la predicación y por los predicadores en la elaboración de representaciones culturales operantes en las sociedades europeas y mediterráneas.

Who we are – how we tell the story of our lives – has always traversed the divides between artistic invention, personal reflection and historic fact; being as much the product of the creative process as the characters depicted by artists in their works.
