First international congress for young researchers in Middle Ages
On 08, 09 and 10 November 2018, the 1st International Congress of Young Researchers in Middle Ages (ICYRMA) will take place at the University of Évora, Portugal. ICYRMA is destinated to students at master, doctoral and postdoctoral level and/or to those who have obtained their academic degrees in the last five years. It aims to be an interdisciplinary space for dissemination, discussion and contact among young researchers who study the Middle Ages from various perspectives: history, archeology, art history, literature, philosophy, philology, anthropology, methodology, among other areas.

CIDEHUS (Centro Interdisciplinar de História, Culturas e Sociedades) has one book collection with peer-review: Fontes e Inventários that publishes historical sources editing or inventories of archives and other collections. From now on, once a year, CIDEHUS opens a call for book proposals to general academic community and not only to the members of our research center.

A condição humana e o entendimento global: crises, diálogos e diásporas
VI Curso internacional de Verão da Escola de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Évora
Num tempo que perdeu o sentido construtivo das utopias, colocar lado a lado “condição humana” e “entendimento global” corre o risco de ser confundido com uma contradição em termos, como se a condição humana fosse inconciliável com a ideia de diálogo, de partilha, de entendimento global. E todavia, nunca como hoje foi tão premente e vital a redescoberta de caminhos que nos levem a um entendimento global. Mas tal urgência obriga ao redespertar da criação de utopias, ao seu reconhecimento como grandes vias que nos podem resgatar à depressão e ao caos da “sociedade líquida”. A sociedade líquida é a sociedade prisioneira de um tempo só, o do instante, o do imediato. E como nele não há espaço nem para o passado nem para o futuro, nele também não cabem nem memória, nem missão. A sociedade líquida é assim também como um mar de pequenos peixes ciclídeos, prisioneiros da sua incapacidade de reter o erro ou de projectar utopias, tristemente felizes na ilusão de que tudo sabem e de que tudo criam pela primeira vez.

Local vocabularies of “heritage”: Variations, Negotiations, Transformations
L’idée centrale de ce colloque est de mener une comparaison internationale des variantes des vocabulaires et des usages linguistiques locaux du « patrimoine », aussi bien dans le contexte de contact avec les institutions internationales que dans le cadre restreint des usages indigènes et coutumiers. Le colloque se propose donc de prendre au sérieux les définitions et re-définitions émiques des « termes indigènes », et d’en dresser un inventaire critique, en dépassant la fiction d’un champ « patrimonial » homogène, continu et globalisé. Une analyse comparative et une confrontation de concepts voisins dans les différents vocabulaires locaux permettraient également de prendre la mesure des transactions, des mutations, des malentendus ou des transferts qui peuvent naître des contacts globaux initiés dans les échanges culturels au cours des deux derniers siècles. -
