Thirty years after the fall of communism in Central and Easter Europe will be marked by the international, multidisciplinary conference called Thirty Years Afert-Post Communism, Democracy and Illiberalism in Central and Eastern Europe, organized by the Faculty of History, Univeristy of Bucharest and its network of academic partners. We would like to invite scholars in History, Political Science, International Relations, Economics or any other related fields to an international conference about the way in which the fall of communism and its inheritance profoundly marked the evolution of Central and Easter countries in the past thirty years.

L’UNESCO nous rappelle que la diversité linguistique et le multilinguisme sont essentiels pour le développement durable, mais l’attention se porte essentiellement sur les langues menacées et place la sauvegarde de la diversité linguistique sur le même plan que la biodiversité. La question des langues en danger est en effet essentielle, et quelques études suggèrent que la disparition des langues présente des risques importants pour la conservation de la biodiversité. Ce que nous voulons faire apparaître, c’est que les langues entrent en jeu dans tous les processus économiques, sociaux et culturels qui sont à la base du développement. La culture, l’éducation et la santé sont des facteurs de développement majeurs dont l’accumulation du capital est plus une conséquence qu’une cause et, où que l’on se place dans le monde, on peut en faire le constat, le rôle de la langue est omniprésent.

Mega-data in the social sciences
The Brexit, Donald Trump’s election, and the alleged interference of Russian hackers mark a turning point in the relationship between the Internet and social science research. The failure of media, analysts and opinion polls to predict the outcome of two crucial democratic consultations is challenging the research methods used since the end of the Second World War. Between the researcher and the data he/she collects there is a space of indeterminacy where suspicion looms. On the one hand, it’s said that we’ve entered the era of electronic democracy: the citizens express themselves freely in the international media. On the other hand, one becomes aware that a certain part of the contents accessible on the Web are actually produced by software; the data would tell us nothing about citizens’ opinions and sentiments.

Flexibility and continuity in hay-meadow management
La XXIe parution de Martor, la revue d'anthropologie du musée du Paysan Roumain, se concentrera sur l'histoire sociale du foin. Durant le dernier siècle, les paysages de l’Europe ont changé d’une manière dramatique à cause du développement socio-politique et économique qui a fait décroître les domaines gérés d’une façon traditionnelle, comme les prés semi-naturels, très riches en biodiversité. Les institutions de l’Europe regardent de plus en plus attentivement la dimension patrimoniale des pratiques et des politiques de gestion de la terre. Les politiques bâties autour du concept de paysage déterminent un souci croissant pour la perte de la diversité biologique et plus précisément pour la perte du savoir local et traditionnel concernant la gestion des terres. Nous essayons de recueillir des contributions afin d'avoir une approche pluridisciplinaire sur le sujet.

On a vu se multiplier dernièrement les ouvrages, produits dans différentes disciplines, faisant de l’incertitude une des principales caractéristiques du monde dans lequel nous vivons. Les certitudes s’effondrant les unes après les autres, il nous faudrait admettre que nous vivons dans un monde « incertain » et qu’un des défis contemporains serait de penser nos actions, nos décisions, notre épanouissement dans ces temps risqués de l’incertitude. L’objectif de ce colloque pluridisciplinaire est d’interroger ce que ce discours de l’incertitude doit aux sciences et ce qu’il fait aux sciences.

In this context, the International Conference on R&D Perspectives. Promoting Innovation through Education, Culture and Communication seeks to provide an international forum for the presentation of new research results and problems related to these topics. All scholars, researchers, policy makers and advisers with an interest in these explosive fields are invited to exchange ideas and approaches. Their contributions can be in the form of: theoretical presentation adding new insights to the debate in the literature; original empirical research; case studies.
