European Hermeneutics and Tafsîrs in Contemporary Islam

Les universitaires Éric Geoffroy, Rachid Benzine (sous-réserve) et Réda Benkirane ainsi que les théologiens Tareq Oubrou et Al Ajamî ont tous en commun un lien avec le Maroc : de naissance pour Tareq Oubrou, Réda Benkirane et Rachid Benzine, de résidence pour le Dr Al Ajami ou de séjours spirituels pour Eric Geoffroy. Ils partagent également une même foi. Mais chacun de nos intervenants trace librement son propre sillon dans la pensée musulmane et arabe contemporaine, à partir du support de leur corpus religieux. À partir de leurs méthodes et sensibilités respectives, ils exposeront leurs rapports à la tradition scripturaire musulmane, leur compréhension de la période de la Révélation, et l'interprétation (ou l'« approche littérale », selon...) qu'ils appliquent au Coran, ainsi que la manière dont ils articulent son contenu à la réalité contemporaine.

The Roles and Values of Menzuma : Islamic panegyrics in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa

The songs of praise called menzuma, sung by a soloist accompanied by a choir and percussion are popular all over the Muslim areas of Ethiopia where the practice of Sufi Islam is still well rooted. The purposes of this workshop are many : to study Menzuma genre from different perspectives and in the different languages in which it is performed ; to study the role of Menzuma as a social performance in public or private spheres ; to understand the relations between the oral performance and the written text of Menzuma ; to explore the different levels of significance of Menzuma texts, i.e. Religious, moral, historical, artistic, etc. ; to observe the circulation, exchange and transformations of Menzuma among different societies of Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa.
