  Ce colloque devrait permettre de contribuer à une meilleure connaissance des effets sociaux de l’innovation en santé et plus précisément des processus translationnels dans le domaine biomédical. La persistance de grandes maladies chroniques comme la maladie d’Alzheimer, la maladie de Parkinson, le cancer, l’autisme, l’asthme ne peut qu’encourager à la multiplication des investigations sur les logiques sociales, économiques, éthiques qui jouent sur la valorisation d’une découverte scientifique en application concrète et rapide au bénéfice des malades.

  Mettre à l’épreuve l’acceptabilité sociale

  Alors même que nombre d’acteurs institutionnels et opérationnels la considèrent comme un allant de soi, la notion d’acceptabilité sociale suscite a minima de l’embarras parmi les chercheurs. Cet embarras paraît légitime à propos d’une notion comportant une forte charge normative et par ailleurs encore très peu stabilisée dans le champ scientifique. Cet embarras place les chercheurs face à un dilemme. Soit ils rejettent la notion pour créer des termes alternatifs, au risque alors que ces derniers soient repris pour renommer des pratiques ayant elles, peu évolué. Soit ils s’approprient l’expression portée par les acteurs opérationnels et institutionnels, mais tentent alors d’en changer le sens en proposant des définitions, en précisant des cadres d’analyse ; ce faisant, ils préservent l’expression a minima comme « mot de passe » leur permettant, entre-autres, d’ouvrir un dialogue avec ces acteurs, ainsi qu’avec les autres disciplines.

  Perspectives féministes sur le VIH / sida

  Depuis près de 35 ans, l’épidémie de VIH / sida a profondément redéfini le paysage global de la santé publique. L’épidémie a également agi comme le révélateur social d’inégalités structurelles préexistantes, de genre, mais aussi de classe, de sexualité et de race. Cependant, les enjeux du genre sont souvent restés cantonnés à la compréhension de spécificités féminines (biologiques, sociales, culturelles), sans nécessairement être envisagés comme un ensemble de rapports de pouvoir. L’objectif de ce colloque est de renouer avec des approches féministes des enjeux du VIH/sida. L’accent sera mis sur les expériences et / ou travaux contemporains, mais aussi sur les enseignements du passé. Le colloque aura également pour objectif de mettre en dialogue des réflexions issues des différents espaces de la francophonie, au Nord comme au Sud.

  Participatory Media and Moral Panic

  Panel on "Participatory Media and Moral Panic" at the Social Media and Society conference

  The transformation of the media landscape invites us to rethink the dialectic between "media" and "moral panic", by focusing on the ways in which participatory media enables the public’s participation in moral panic. The coproduction of moral panic, via media participation, can be analyzed to document how individuals, through their relational links, trigger, maintain and propagate moral panic or how these forms of moral regulation affect sociability, notably those stigmatized by the controversial subject. This may also allow the study of how mediatization of social relations, stemming from participatory media, leads to renegotiating a number of democratic balances. These include the relationship between private and public spheres as well as the role of publics in constituting collective dynamics, such as the formation of public problems.

Ce phénomène s’observe à tous les niveaux d’élections et touche également d’autres lieux décisionnels comme dans les syndicats et les organismes publics. Les organisateurs du colloque proposent d’analyser ce phénomène sous trois principaux angles : ses causes profondes, ses solutions et ses effets sur la démocratie et la société en général.

  Le colloque s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une approche exploratoire des questions de médiation dans leur pluralité en Haïti et ailleurs. Il pourrait apporter une impulsion à la perspective d’actions de formation professionnalisante en médiation en Haïti, comme contribution possible à la reconstruction nationale. Ce colloque a pour ambition de : réunir des acteurs engagés dans des actions de médiation pour faire le point, questionner les pratiques de médiation en Haïti, en Amérique Latine et en Europe ; mobiliser des universitaires haïtiens et étrangers pour créer un cadre de réflexion et de production scientifique en matière de médiation ; dégager des besoins de formation en matière de médiation éducative en Haïti en vue d’une formation de premier et de second cycle universitaire, de concert avec les partenaires locaux et internationaux.

  IAMCR 2015

  The Gender and Communication Section invites submissions for its open session at next year’s IAMCR, held in Montreal, Canada, from 12-16 July 2015. The section seeks research that balances theory and practice, and explores the relationship between gender, media and communication. In recent years sessions have included papers on the Internet, television, film, journalism, magazines, violence, queer theory, media production, reception, advertising, representation, the Global Media Monitoring Project, human rights, discrimination, elections, the body, HIV/AIDS, development, pop culture, virtual identity, social change, and consumption. In keeping with our philosophy of inclusivity, we welcome contributions without regard to empirical, theoretical, disciplinary or philosophical perspectives. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 9 February 2015.

  Since its foundation, the Department of religious studies at UQAM is known for its non-confessional approach to the study of the religious and its manifestations within cultures and societies, known as religiologie. Research being carried with this method tends to go beyond the academic status quo, to focus on the religious object as well as on the posture which underpins it. In recent years, a greater amount of attention has been given to the issues of proximity and detachment between the researcher and the object/subject of their research. With this emphasis on avant-garde and innovative research, we invite researchers in all disciplines to explore different approaches and methodologies that question this all too elusive barrier between subjectivity and objectivity.
