2015 FSAC / ACEF Annual Meeting
In accordance with the theme of “Capital Ideas” for the 2015 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Folklore Studies Association of Canada / l’Association canadienne d’ethnologie et de folklore has selected “Mediations” as the theme for our 2015 annual conference program. The theme of “Mediations” is an invitation for scholars and students of folklore, popular culture, and cultural heritage to examine how the transmission of knowledge and ideas emerges from a complex background of skills, traditions and performances. As cultural forms, practices, representations and traditions are constantly going through processes of translation, adaptation, and mediation, this entails that, paradoxically, practices of cultural conservation and transmission often rely on technological innovations and the creation and extension of new infrastructures of mediation.

Dans le cadre de ce colloque, nous recherchons des interventions qui exploreront les questions entourant les traces numériques et la mobilité dans l’espace public à partir de différentes perspectives et champs de recherche. Nous sommes intéressés par des questionnements critiques et théoriques ainsi que des études de terrain qui présentent de façon problématisée la dynamique abordée dans ce colloque.

The revolution of open science and open access
The current state of issues and debates
La science ouverte recouvre quatre grands aspects de la pratique scientifique contemporaine : 1) l'accès libre pour tous les internautes à toutes les publications scientifiques arbitrées par les pairs (le libre accès) ; 2) le partage des données de recherche et l'évaluation scientifique ouverte (la science en ligne) ; 3) la science collaborative (ou citoyenne) qui intègre des non-professionnels de la recherche scientifique dans les projets de recherche ; 4) la science 2.0 qui regroupe les réseaux sociaux et blogs où s'expriment de plus en plus les chercheurs, y compris pour présenter et mettre en débat leurs hypothèses. Le but de ce colloque organisé par l'Association science et bien commun est de proposer un état des lieux et des débats sur la science ouverte et l'accès libre. Il prendra la forme d'une série de tables rondes et de conférences proposant des bilans, des exemples et des études de cas et laissant largement aux personnes présentes le temps de discuter. -

Ce colloque s’intéresse aux multiples manières par lesquelles les nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication (NTIC) modifient l’accès à la culture. Plus particulièrement, il cherche à identifier l’évolution des relations entre formation du goût et dispositifs de prescription ou de recommandation, compte tenu de l’émergence de nouveaux réseaux sociaux dans leurs dimensions tout autant interactives que technologiques. -

Il s'agira, lors d'une journée de sensibilisation, d'inciter les chercheurs, éditeurs et institutions de recherche francophones à publier dans leur langue, et d'améliorer la visibilité de ces publications, habituellement défavorisés par les calculs bibliométriques. Le prototype d'un index de citation francophone sera également présenté, pour permettre à la francophonie de disposer d'un index conséquent, utiles aux chercheurs de tous horizons. -

From Social Networking to Wealth Creation
Social networking is the way the grey literature community remains connected in the 21st century. It encompasses a range of social media and communication tools that enable subject based communities to create, review, process, publish, and make grey literature openly accessible to public domain. Social networking is not new to grey literature, in fact it is inherent to this field of information. What’s new however are the technologies available to global grey literature communities in developing, monitoring, and sustaining valued information resources and services. In this context, social networking becomes a mechanism both used and applied by grey literature communities in the processes of knowledge generation and ensuing wealth creation. -
