De nouveaux défis à relever dans l’éducation
La vie et le vivant intéressent autant les scientifiques que les poètes ou les philosophes. Notre rapport au vivant ou, pourrait-on dire, nos rapports aux vivants se construisent, se complexifient, se structurent au fil des expériences, à l’occasion de rencontres ou d’événements vécus en famille, à l’école, au gré de différentes activités auxquelles on accorde différentes significations et valeurs. Pour appréhender le « vivant », la « vie », différents paradigmes ont été identifiés selon des approches philosophiques, épistémologiques, biologiques, sociologiques, historiques. Considérant que vie et vivant sont porteurs d’enjeux importants concernant l’individu comme la société, notre perspective dans ce colloque est d’explorer divers enjeux susceptibles de nourrir la réflexion des acteurs de l’enseignement et d’autres domaines concernés.

IAMCR 2015
The Gender and Communication Section invites submissions for its open session at next year’s IAMCR, held in Montreal, Canada, from 12-16 July 2015. The section seeks research that balances theory and practice, and explores the relationship between gender, media and communication. In recent years sessions have included papers on the Internet, television, film, journalism, magazines, violence, queer theory, media production, reception, advertising, representation, the Global Media Monitoring Project, human rights, discrimination, elections, the body, HIV/AIDS, development, pop culture, virtual identity, social change, and consumption. In keeping with our philosophy of inclusivity, we welcome contributions without regard to empirical, theoretical, disciplinary or philosophical perspectives. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 9 February 2015.

Examining the religious : alter/native views
Graduate Student Conference AECSSR-UQÀM
Since its foundation, the Department of religious studies at UQAM is known for its non-confessional approach to the study of the religious and its manifestations within cultures and societies, known as religiologie. Research being carried with this method tends to go beyond the academic status quo, to focus on the religious object as well as on the posture which underpins it. In recent years, a greater amount of attention has been given to the issues of proximity and detachment between the researcher and the object/subject of their research. With this emphasis on avant-garde and innovative research, we invite researchers in all disciplines to explore different approaches and methodologies that question this all too elusive barrier between subjectivity and objectivity.

The Crisis Communication Working Group aims to provide a forum for scholars researching the mediation of political and economic crisis, wars and terrorism, disasters, catastrophes and risks, combining global and local perspectives. We adopt a broad understanding of crisis communication with theoretical contributions from different perspectives and disciplines and hope to stimulate fruitful discussions about threat-image constructions and the consequences for democracy and civil rights.

Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) 2015
The Comic Art Working Group, founded in 1984 by John A. Lent, is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. As part of that occasion, the group hopes to have a full program of papers for the 2015 IAMCR conference in Montreal. Papers on any aspect of comic art are requested, such as political, advertising, or gag cartoons, newspaper strips, comic books, graphic novels, humor /cartoon periodicals, animation, and caricature.

Les métiers et les formations à l’information et de la communication ont pris une expansion considérable ces dernières années et il semble que la communication soit aujourd’hui une activité incontestée et reconnue, tant dans les milieux professionnels qu’à l’université. Cet état de fait pose question. Comment le communicateur peut-il faire valoir son professionnalisme ? Comment les communicateurs peuvent-ils développer une identité de métier ? Autant de questions qu’entend aborder ce colloque international (Sherbrooke, 28 et 29 mai 2015) en interrogeant de front la notion de professionnalisation.
