  À l’occasion du 85^e Congrès de l’Association francophone pour le savoir – Acfas, qui aura lieu du 8 au 12 mai 2017 à l’Université McGill, les artisans de la recherche sont invités à partager leurs plus récents résultats de recherche, tout en reconnaissant les avancées scientifiques pionnières du passé, pour repousser les limites du savoir et atteindre de nouveaux sommets. Les professeurs, chercheurs, étudiants de cycles supérieurs et autres professionnels de recherche qui souhaitent organiser un colloque ou présenter une communication libre dans le cadre de cette nouvelle édition du congrès sont invités à transmettre leurs propositions au Comité scientifique par le biais du site Internet de l’Acfas.

  L’étude des innovations sociales nous amène à examiner ce qui se construit, ce qui émerge de la base (Lévesque, 2014). Cela invite à une coconstruction d’une approche fédératrice et émancipatrice permettant non seulement une reconnaissance de la pratique par la théorie et une reconnaissance de la théorie par la pratique, mais également une théorisation par observation et mise en dialogue des innovations et transformations en cours (Hall and Lamont, 2009; Klein et al., 2016). Par une attention portée aux initiatives et émergences sociales ainsi qu’aux acteurs et actrices qui les mettent en œuvre, ce colloque cherche à participer à la construction d’une telle approche.

  Dans un monde en mutation, dont la dynamique de changement s’accélère depuis le XX^e siècle, notamment à travers les développements technologiques et informationnels, former des praticiens réflexifs à l’université est devenu « normal » (Boud, 2010 ; Brockbank et McGill, 2007 ; Cowan, 2006  Paquay, Altet, Charlier et Perrenoud, 1996). Il s’agit d’entraîner les professionnels à l’intelligibilité et à l’autonomie au travail, afin qu’ils puissent affronter le complexe et l’énigmatique ou l’inédit (Durand et Fabre, 2011 ; Pastré, Mayen et Vergnaud, 2006).

  Maritime Ivories in Western Europe, 900-1500

  In the history of carved ivories, maritime mammals have often been eclipsed by the elephant, considered as a nobler ivory to which walrus or whale ivory would only be a poor man's substitute. But this historiographical view is not without its shortcomings, as not only did walrus hunting play a significant role in the first European explorations toward the west, but the trade for those ivories went as far as the Islamic world and even the Far East. This session at the 52^nd International Congress on Medieval Studies, sponsored by the National Museum of Scotland, aims to address the variety of questions posed by the maritime ivories: how the raw material was collected, how it was traded, the workshops that carved them and their specific symbolic value in medieval treasuries

  This hackathon will bring together a small group of 20-30 participants to collaboratively develop new open-source tools and approaches to hackathon, and to kick-off collaboratively inspired research projects.   Fung Global Fellow Program - Princeton University

  Each year, the Fung Global Fellows Program selects six international scholars to be in residence at Princeton for one academic year and to engage in research and discussion around a common theme. During the academic year 2017/18, the program theme will be “The Culture and Politics of Resentment.” Resentment is a powerful emotion for expressing culture and politics. Experiences and memories of humiliation, oppression, and marginalization have stimulated emotions of resentment, and produced compelling demands for political inclusion and justice around the world. Alternatively, rage against what is seen as the “tyranny of the minority,” inequality, the corruption and aloofness of elites, the “foreign,” and the illegitimate have generated powerful populist upsurges against the perceived enemies of a homogeneous body of “the people.”

  An element that seems to characterize the 20^th century reflection on utopia is its secular nature. Through a re-thinking of the place and roles of religion in society, the post-secular turn we are witnessing in recent theory (Habermas, Taylor, Asad, Mahmood) may provide a critical point of departure for questioning this specific aspect of utopian tradition. In this panel, we invite papers that reflect on the relationship between utopia and religion, as it is worked out in 20^th century literature and philosophy: How does the place of the utopian tradition change in the context of the “return of the religion” in a post-secular society?

  Inside the ritual: Approaches, practices and representations in the arts

  In its simplest formulation, ritual consists of repeated and codified gestures that are collectively or individually experienced. Ritual is far more complex than this, however, as is demonstrated by the diversity of approaches in anthropology. Moreover, it is better to understand and conceive of ritual as a fluctuating, open concept in order to explore its full potential. Ritual convenes historical and contemporary perspectives, both sacred and profane. It further invites reflection on how practices intersect, particularly with regard to the transformation and dissemination across time and culture.

  Money is at once elusive and concrete. As a mode of economic exchange it exists within a relatively fixed playing field, with clearly delineated boundaries of benefits and costs. However, poor handling, bad advice, or even a bad turn at a game of chance can swallow money up in one fell swoop. The workshop will investigate this wide array of pre-capitalist, western and non-western contexts from the English Isles, Flanders, France, Germany, Italy, and China between the Middle Ages and Early Modern times.

  Loin de se réduire à un simple colloque singulier entre le médecin et son patient, les questions de santé et de maladie impliquent une pluralité d’acteurs engagés dans des relations multiples. Des interactions au sein d’une équipe de soins au dialogue entre un malade et ses proches, en passant par les relations entre un patient et son infirmière, son ostéopathe ou son pharmacien, les rapports entre médecins généralistes et médecins spécialistes ou encore les liens des professionnels de santé à l’administration ou au gouvernement, le monde de la santé est tissé d’une multitude de liens aux formes variées et parfois inattendues. Encore trop rarement traités en tant que tels par l’histoire de la santé, ils en constituent pourtant le cœur vivant puisqu’ils incarnent l’expérience même du soin.
