L'université d’été a pour but d’offrir, aux participants, par le biais de conférences, d’ateliers, de workshops, de séminaires, d’exercices pratiques, de « performances », un vaste panorama de ce qui fait courir, et agir, nos théoriciens et nos méthodologues d’aujourd’hui. Quelles pratiques se profilent ? Comment choisir ses outils et selon quels critères ? Il s’agit d’aider les uns et les autres à mieux trouver leur chemin dans le fascinant paysage de la recherche littéraire dans tous ses aspects. La théorie, donc, servira ici à enrichir, et à perfectionner la pratique.

This is an International Conference of advanced training and postgraduate education and research in the History of Science field, although following an interdisciplinary and collaborative perspective, open to a specialized public as well as other interested and general public. Our main purpose is to value the biographical methodology approach in academic training and scholarly research, not just for the historiographic practice, where it is of increasing interest the conjunction between History of Science and Intellectual History, but also with regard to broader contexts of production and incorporation of knowledge both by the concerned communities and by a socially and publicly responsible society.

The role of health and social welfare policies in European inclusion and exclusion processes

Health risks created by population movement, and policy responses to them, have been an integral part of European history since the early modern period. They have helped to shape wider cultural ideas on economic risks, attitudes to integration, and enlargement of the EU. Twenty first century Europe is addressing new questions and challenges: how to live together, and include new territories and new populations and cultures without compromising our health, both personal and economic. These have contemporary policy implications. Our aim is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the cultural heritages and roots of the European welfare model.

Funerary Sculpture: from the Creation to the Musealization”. Historians, museologists, restorers and all the researchers in general working on the topic are invited to submit proposals

EASA Medical Anthropology Network – 2017

In 2017 the biannual conference of EASA Medical Anthropology Network will be hosted in Lisbon, Portugal, with the prospect of promoting a compact encounter with more plenaries and less parallel sessions. The purpose is to maximize the interweaving of our experiences and understandings across the different niches and orientations within medical anthropology and in exchange with neighboring fields; we hope that bringing back plenary sessions creates room for unpredicted synergies. Around 120 medical anthropologists from around the globe will meet at the University of Lisbon to debate current research and developments and discuss the field’s contribution to gain a broader and deepened understanding of the conference’s overarching topic.

A reorientação teórica dos estudos literários no sentido da sua renovada aproximação ao “real”, identificada mais tarde por alguns como o “spatial turn” (Soja, 1989) começa a desenhar-se no panorama teórico-literário a partir de meados do século XX, no momento em que teóricos de referência no campo estruturalista concedem largo espaço da sua reflexão ao relacionamento entre “a literatura e a realidade”, com o objetivo de denunciar, insistentemente, qualquer “ilusão referencial” (Barthes et al., 1982) e de remeter o espaço literário à sua especularidade intratextual (Dällenbach, 1977).

International Conference on the values of tangible heritage

Tangible heritage is the support of some of the most relevant and perennial values of Mankind. It connects us with History, projects us to past environments and to lost cultural contexts, includes landmarks of our identity and constitutes a relevant economic asset. Therefore tangible heritage has intangible aspects inextricably associated to it and when tangible heritage is addressed, intangibility matters. Conservation of tangible heritage is a cultural act with the value approach as a leading concept. The protection statutes, the arguments used to sustain the protection policies, the management options and definition of priorities, the allocation of resources and the uses of heritage assets are intimately connected and dependent on values, bringing to focus the intangible side of their nature.

Depuis les aventures des pionniers, en passant par les premières compagnies aériennes, jusqu’à l’âge du jet et, de nos jours, les opérateurs à bas prix, l’aviation a profondément changé les notions de temps et d’espace. Ce colloque international vise à réfléchir au rôle de l’aviation dans la mutation subie par ces notions, aussi bien qu’aux effets de ce phénomène sur le commerce, la sécurité, la culture et les territoires.

Au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’Europe est en pleine décadence. Au cours de cette période difficile, la confrontation entre les deux Europes ne cesse de s’accroître. Face à l’expansionnisme soviétique, les pays d’Europe occidentale se tournent vers les États-Unis qui leurs octroient de l’aide économique et de la protection militaire. La reconstruction de l’Europe fait alors l’objet de débats houleux. Sous la pression des mouvements européanistes, les débats prennent de l’élan surtout à partir de 1948 dans le but de rebâtir l’Europe et la paix en Europe. L’atmosphère de « Guerre froide » est très présente depuis 1946.
