Pour sa XXIVe édition à Bucarest, le colloque franco-roumain en science de l'information et de la communication (SIC) propose de stimuler la réflexion interdisciplinaire sur la reconfiguration du statut des intellectuels, dans un contexte de redéfinition de la sphère publique par l’apparition des nouvelles formes de débat et d’engagement en ligne, avec une place particulière accordée aux recherches relevant des sciences de l'information et de la communication SIC francophones.

Impact de la digitalisation des formes d'engagement et de débat public
Le questionnement formulé dans les années 1970-1980 à propos des effets de la télévision sur le statut des intellectuels dans la sphère publique (voir notamment les travaux de Régis Debray) mériterait d’être renouvelé, dans un contexte où les réseaux sociaux, les blogs et les autres formes de communication en ligne constituent désormais un espace de légitimation pour les intellectuels susceptibles de s’y investir. Pour sa 24ème édition à Bucarest, le colloque franco-roumain en SIC propose de stimuler la réflexion interdisciplinaire sur la reconfiguration du statut des intellectuels, dans un contexte de redéfinition de la sphère publique par l’apparition des nouvelles formes de débat et d’engagement en ligne, avec une place particulière accordée aux recherches relevant des SIC francophones.

Fashion, food, health and manners across South-Eastern Europe and the Ottoman Empire (17th-19th centuries)
The international conference “Shaping the Modern Body. Fashion, Food, Health and Manners across South Eastern Europe and the Ottoman Empire (17th-19th centuries)” intends to open a rich field in an under researched variety of sources. The body is the prism through which we intend to analyse four areas of historical enquiry and social interactions: manners and behavior; dress and fashion; food; health. Private and public spaces, meetings and social events, mediators, translators and go-betweens provide an important backdrop to our focus on male and female bodies and the disciplining, feeding, clothing, healing practices that shaped and changed their self-perceptions, experiences and social identities. We aim to explore a set of sources ranging from costume books and portraits; inventories; correspondences and journals; books of etiquette, food and cosmetic recipes and medical prescriptions; photographs and magazines.

Big Data - truths and fictions
La puissance de calcul des ordinateurs, le progrès des algorithmes, les travaux en machine learning et en intelligence artificielle (IA) ouvrent de vastes possibilités devant les chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales. Tout d’abord, la possibilité de mettre en question de telles entreprises : en quoi élargissent-elles le champ de notre compréhension ? Qu’est-ce qu’elles apportent à nos principes méthodologiques ? Quels types de vérités échappaient à notre sagacité, que les nouveaux outils d’étude nous permettent de saisir ? Et la suprême provocation - l’écriture des textes, la composition des tableaux et des mélodies – mène-t-elle à un remplacement de l’artiste par la machine, ou bien c’est l’équipe des programmeurs, artistes et critiques qui vient de produire simplement un nouveau média numérique, l’art de la « machine intelligente » ?

The construction of reality in the post-truth age
We invite papers for the 25th issue of the intersdiciplinary academic journal Interstudia, based at the Faculty of Letters, Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau, Romania. The proposed topic for this issue is "The construction of reality in the post-truth age". We will accept articles written in English, French, Italian and Spanish whose main points of interest will be related to ideas deriving from these following themes for reflection: the role of language in the construction of post-truth, the manipulation of emotion in the media, ethics and post-truth, the role of humanities in the preservation of human values, truth versus opinion in the post-truth society, the relation among data, information and knowledge, ICT and post-truth, the role of numerical devices in the propagation of post-truth attitudes. These are only suggested topics, and should not be considered exhaustive. authors should be free in choosing their topic of research within the frame offered by the general title.

Le no 1/2019 (39) de la revue Annales de l’Université de Craiova (Roumanie), série psychopédagogie vous propose un débat sur le thème « La Méthodologie de la recherche dans différents domaines d’action — de la recherche scientifique fondamentale à la recherche appliquée ». Comment procéder à l’adaptation de la méthodologie de la recherche au spécifique d’un champ scientifique d’action ? Comment se reflètent les divers paradigmes éducationnels sur la méthodologie de la recherche ? Comment procéder pour valoriser les instruments de recherche et disséminer les résultats d’une telle manière qu’ils puissent être généralisés au niveau de la pratique éducationnelle. Voilà des pistes de réflexion et/ou de possibles questions. La réponse se trouve dans différentes démarches de recherche, tant théoriques qu’appliquées, expérimentales, suivant des approches mono disciplinaires, mais aussi inter et transdisciplinaires.

L’UNESCO nous rappelle que la diversité linguistique et le multilinguisme sont essentiels pour le développement durable, mais l’attention se porte essentiellement sur les langues menacées et place la sauvegarde de la diversité linguistique sur le même plan que la biodiversité. La question des langues en danger est en effet essentielle, et quelques études suggèrent que la disparition des langues présente des risques importants pour la conservation de la biodiversité. Ce que nous voulons faire apparaître, c’est que les langues entrent en jeu dans tous les processus économiques, sociaux et culturels qui sont à la base du développement. La culture, l’éducation et la santé sont des facteurs de développement majeurs dont l’accumulation du capital est plus une conséquence qu’une cause et, où que l’on se place dans le monde, on peut en faire le constat, le rôle de la langue est omniprésent.

Migrations, economy, and societies: from cultural transfers to “identity marketing”
Special issue of RIELMA (International Review of Studies in Applied Modern Languages)
This special issue of RIELMA (Revue Internationale d’Etudes en Langues Modernes Appliquées / International Review of Studies in Applied Modern Languages) from Babeş-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) aims at studying cultural transfers resulting from migration and how these transfers have given birth to new products that could be considered ethnic. In many cases these different products have led to a new type of entrepreneurship that could be called “Identity marketing”. With expected submissions coming from different fields, as a reflection of the interdisciplinarity of Applied Modern Languages degrees (civilization, marketing and international trade, intercultural communication, translation…) as well as a reflection of different cultural and historical environments, we would like to underline the importance of cultural transfers in business relations, especially when they involved different languages and different cultures.

Transnational dimensions of dealing with the past in ‘Third Wave’ democracies
Southern Europe, Central Eastern Europe, and the Former Soviet Union in Global Perspective
This conference aims to fill the gap by looking at how post-dictatorial justice and memory experiences in Southern Europe, Central Eastern Europe, and the former Soviet Union after the “third wave of democratization” have reciprocally affected each other. It also seeks to unpack how memorialization practices in these regions were shaped by and influenced in turn criminalization discourses in other geographical contexts (Latin America, Asia, Africa). The conference focuses on transnational activism, transfers of knowledge, and expertise at bilateral, regional or international levels, the impact of legal and mnemonic narratives outside their countries of origin, and the role of international organizations and NGO's in dealing with mass violence. The conference aims thus to trace the mutlidirectional circulation of ideas, norms and models of reckoning with authoritarian regimes both within these regions, and between them and other areas of the world.

The Association international d’études du sud-est européen is happy to invite you to the 12th Congress of South-East European Studies, taking place in Bucharest, from the 2nd to the 7th of September 2019. One of the conference panels, organized by Robert Born (Leipzig) and Marian Coman (Bucharest), is dedicated to the cartographic history of south-eastern Europe. Proposals for individual papers are welcome on various aspects of the history of south-eastern Europe cartography, from the Ottoman period to the post-communist era. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Renaissance and Early Modern maps of the Ottoman Empire, Enlightenment cartographies of Eastern Europe, the birth of national cartography, war and peace cartographies, historical and propaganda maps, national and local surveys, Cold War cartographies.

The implementation of France’s commitment in Central and Eastern Europe in the interwar period (1917-1939)
The aim of this conference is to shed light on joint practical initiatives between France and all the allied countries of central Europe during the inter-war period to concretely build the alliance between the partners. France’s collaboration with the member states of the Little Entente (Czechoslovakia, Romania, Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes) — and of these powers amongst themselves — will be emphasized, but communications on the ties with the other Allied Powers or partners from the region (Poland, the Baltic States and Finland, Greece, Turkey), and even with the revisionist powers (Soviet Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria) are welcome.
