II International Congress for Young Researchers in Middle Ages

On 13, 14 and 15 November 2019, the II International Congress of Young Researchers in Middle Ages (ICYRMA) will take place at the University of Évora, Portugal. ICYRMA is destinated to students at master, doctoral and postdoctoral level and/or to those who have obtained their academic degrees in the last five years. It aims to be an interdisciplinary space for dissemination, discussion and contact among young researchers who study the Middle Ages from various perspectives: history, archeology, art history, literature, philosophy, philology, anthropology, ethnology, sociology, geography, methodology, among other areas.

On 08, 09 and 10 November 2018, the 1st International Congress of Young Researchers in Middle Ages (ICYRMA) will take place at the University of Évora, Portugal. Political communication and diplomacy in the Late Middle Ages

This meeting wants to carry out a state of the art on the history of medieval diplomacy, a topic on methodological renewal process. For this, it will focus on aspects such as new historiographical tendencies the wide range of sources available (literature, archives, letters...), sociology of the protagonists (clergy, nobility, lawyers, merchants...) and the different political contexts of medieval diplomacy (papacy, kingdoms, cities...).

Call for papers - Middle Ages

The Mediterranean and southern Iberian peninsula in Medieval times: culture, identity and heritage (5th-15th centuries)

Le Congrès International « La Méditerranée et le Sud Ibérique l’époque médiévale : culture, identité et patrimoine. Siècles V-XV » aura lieu le 5 et 6 Décembre 2013, signalant les 1100 ans du pillage de Évora, ville du Alentejo, par le futur roi Ordoño II de León en 913. Le Congrès aura comme principal objectif de rassembler jeunes chercheurs et spécialistes, portugais et étrangers, de domaines si divers comme l’Archéologie, l’Histoire, la Littérature, l’Histoire des Arts, l’Anthropologie et autres dédiés à l’étude de la thématique du Sud Ibérique à l’époque médiévale. On cherche une analyse multidisciplinaire des relations de proximité et les affinités qui ont eu lieu à l’époque médiévale, entre des régions méridionales et l’espace méditerranéen ainsi que d’autres thématiques reliées à champs spécifiques de l’Art de l’Histoire économique, politique et sociale ou de la culture et mentalités du Sud Ibérique.

Arqueologia de transição: entre o Mundo Romano e a Idade Média

O Centro de História de Arte e Investigação Artística e o Laboratório de Arqueologia Pinho Monteiro da Universidade de Évora organizam este Iº Congresso Internacional sobre Arqueologia de Transição: "Entre o Mundo Romano e a Idade Média", que reunirá em Évora alguns dos reconhecidos especialistas sobre esta temática. Este congresso centrar-se-á na busca das várias teorias que abarcam as realidades de transição, tantas vezes envoltas no mundo oculto da imprecisão histórica! Precisar estas realidades, torna-se, sem dúvida, o objectivo primordial deste evento. Pretende-se promover o debate científico relativo a problemáticas relacionadas com o mundo tardo-antigo.
